• Body condition score (BCS) is measured scale of 1 to 5• Target 3.5 at mating• One unit of BCS is equivalent to approximately 12 kg body weight • One unit change in BCS increases the number of lambs reared by 0.1/ewe joined• Measured by hand along the ewes back (see diagrams)• Assess the condition along the spine and transverse processes
