AIC FOOTBALL SEASON SCHEDULE 2020 All schools will be broken into two pools of four schools. The first three weeks will be played as a round robin with each team in the pool. After the first 3 rounds all schools within same the pool will be ranked. During the last round (12 th September) schools will play the same ranked school in the opposite pool. Each school will be responsible for hosting a certain age group during the finals round. A list of the host Colleges is found below. Year 5&6 teams will compete on Saturday mornings as usual, however, they will not play finals on Saturday 12 th September. The Year 5&6 teams will play another normal round on this day as they do not compete for premierships in the AIC competition. All boys who trial for a Football team will be able to play and included in a team for the season. Pool A – Ashgrove, Padua, St Patrick’s and St Edmund’s Pool B – Villanova, St Laurence’s, Iona and St Peter’s Round 1 - Saturday 22 nd August vs St Laurence’s College (home schedule) Round 2 - Saturday 29 th August vs Iona College (away schedule) Round 3 – Saturday 5 th September vs St Peter’s Lutheran College (home schedule) Final Round - Saturday 12 th September. Each AIC College will be responsible for hosting a specific age group on this day as per below. AIC FOOTBALL SEASON SCHEDULE 2020

All schools will be broken into two pools of four schools. The first three weeks will be played as a round

robin with each team in the pool. After the first 3 rounds all schools within same the pool will be ranked.

Each school will be responsible for hosting a certain age group during the finals round. A list of the host

Please Note

• 4ths, 5ths, 6ths and Coloured teams will be scheduled to play at various times on Saturday. Please check the ‘Weekly Fixtures’ section on the College website for venue and game times.

AIC Football Trials

Any boy wishing to make an AIC Football team must complete the ‘Trimester 2 Sign-on Form’ to register

their interest. These forms are now completed and can be found in the AIC Football section on the website

via the ‘Locker Room’.

Year 5 and 6

Boys in Years 5 and 6 will have the opportunity to attend three trial sessions. All trials will be conducted at

Little Langlands. There will be an initial trial held for each year level during the week commencing Monday

3rd August (please see trial schedule) followed by a ‘trial week’ which will commence on the week beginning

Monday 10th August. Within this trial week the boys will have 2 trial sessions as well as a trial game against

St Patrick’s College on Friday 14th August. The students will be walked up to the College by the coaches at

the end of each morning session. For students training in the afternoon, coaches will meet them at the

Junior School and walk them down to Langlands. All interested students are to attend ALL trial sessions and

the trial game in order to assist coaches to select teams. After these trials, the coaches will then select all

teams within that age group. Once selected all teams will then follow the training schedule as outlined on

page 4 of this document commencing week 6 (Monday 17th August).

• Year 7- Open Trials

Boys trialling for teams from Year 7 to the Opens will have three trial sessions. There will be an initial trial

held for each year level during the week commencing Monday 27th July (please see below). The first trial

will be held at Little Langlands. The remaining two trials will be conducted at Villa Park for all age groups.

Boys trialling at Villa Park will be transported to training on Monday and Wednesday afternoons. Boys must

then be picked up after each trial session. There will not be a return bus to the College after training. ‘Trial

Week’ will commence on the week beginning Monday 10th August. Within this trial week, all age groups will

have 2 trial sessions as well as a trial game against St Patrick’s College held on Friday 14th August. All

interested students are to attend ALL trial sessions in order to assist coaches with the selection of teams.

After these trials, the coaches will then select all teams within that age group. Once selected, all teams will

then follow the training schedule as outlined on page 4 of this document commencing Week 6 Monday 17th

August.

Villanova Football Uniform

• Villanova Football Jersey (purchased from the Uniform Shop) • Villanova Football Shorts (not the PE shorts/ not the Basketball shorts) • Villanova Rugby/Football socks • Shin guards compulsory (not stocked in the Uniform Shop)

What to wear at training? – It is acceptable for both the rugby and football players to wear any

coloured/club or other old clothes to training. Boys are not encouraged to wear their Villanova playing

uniform to training but may do so if they wish. We certainly would not recommend rugby players to wear

their PE uniform or any shirt that will get ripped and torn.

Pre-Season Training (1st, 2nd and 10A’s)

The 1sts, 2nds and 10A football squads will be invited to be involved in pre-season training to prepare for

the AIC Football season. Please note the start date/s for each squad listed in the table below. There will be

transport arranged to take the boys from the College to Villa Park for these sessions except the Tuesday

16th June, Tuesday 23rd June, Tuesday 30th June and Tuesday 7th of July where boys will need to make their

own arrangements to get to and from Villa Park. Please note that the sessions where the boys are bussed

out to Villa Park that this is one way only and there is no return bus service from Villa Park. Parents are

asked to collect their son from training at 5:00pm.
