Academic Affairs Kick-off Meeting & Luncheon for Department Chair and Heads Advanced Technology Lab (ATL) – Building 007

Hosted by the Provost, this event provides academic department chairs and heads an opportunity to meet as a group prior to the start of classes, have a dialogue with the provost, receive updates on important issues and participate in a focused discussion on relevant topics. Further detail will be sent prior to the meeting.

10:00-11:00 AM Intro to PolyLearn Kennedy Library – Building 35, Room 111B

PolyLearn is Cal Poly’s Learning Management System, enabling faculty to provide students with 24-hour access to course content and materials. This hands-on session will provide an overview of the PolyLearn system. We will demonstrate how PolyLearn supports teaching and learning, what tools are available, and how to get help when needed.

During this session, we will provide hands-on training, support and advice on how to setup your PolyLearn Gradebook. The PolyLearn Gradebook allows students to view their grades during the quarter. We will demonstrate Gradebook options and examples, what tools are available, and how to get help when needed.

The resource fair brings together representatives from almost three dozen organizations, services and clubs from across campus to host tables during the Fair. These subject matter experts present information regarding essential services and benefits while showing you how to continue to explore, engage and connect at the University. Graduate Student Orientation Business Silo, Building 03 Room 213

The orientation will cover important information regarding the graduate path to degree completion, a panel of on campus service providers, and lunch with Graduate Coordinators. 2:00-5:00 PM International Student Orientation Chumash Auditorium

The International Student Orientation is required for all new freshmen, transfer, and graduate students on an F or J visa. At the orientation, new international students will be introduced to the International Center staff, learn about important campus resources, and will have the opportunity to interact one-on-one with staff from those resources as well as other international students during a reception.

In addition, new international students have the option to schedule an individual advising appointment with an International Student Advisor and will be invited to attend the “Coffee & Donut Check-In” group meeting on Friday September 21st 10:00 AM -12:00 PM in Bldg. 52 Room E28.
