Tiger Times My Experience at Saint Anna School

I have been at Saint Anna Catholic School since third grade, and I am so glad I came here.

I have learned so much and made so many close friends. The teachers are so nice and helpful, and supportive. Being at St. Anna Catholic School has been a great experience for me, and I’m so glad I came here. I have gotten a great education from St. Anna Catholic School. I feel completely prepared for high school, and I feel that I have learned everything I needed to know, and more.

My Experience…

Also, the teachers make learning fun. In science, we have labs for every chapter. We have fun with experiments, but they also teach us a lot. St. Anna Catholic School has also helped me gain strong religious beliefs. We have religion class almost every day, and we go to mass every week. The Melting of the Snowman

Swimming

When I was six years old, I started swimming lessons. My teacher Mrs. Lurey taught me how to doggy paddle. The second time I met her, she taught me to go under water. She taught me to go on the diving board. I stopped going to her because she had taught me enough! Now, I can swim a mile! My favorite place to swim is at the beach. My family and I go to the beach. My mom lies in the sand. We go to the beach in June. I can’t wait!

My Favorite Team

My favorite hockey team is the Boston Bruins. When the Bruins played Vancouver, it was the greatest game I had ever seen in my life!

My four favorite players on the Bruins team are Tim Thomas, Johnny Boychuk, Milan Lucic, and Brad Marchand. I like these four players because they are the best defensive players.

The Bruins’ colors are gold and black for home games and black and white for away games. The Bruins’ uniforms are my favorite because they really have style.

The Captain of the Bruins is Zdeno Chara. The arch enemies of the Bruins are the Vancouver Canucks, the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Philadelphia Flyers.

The Bruins play at the TD Garden. It was founded in 1924 in Boston, Massachusetts. The rink is 200 feet long and 85 feet wide. The ice surface is divided into three zones.

In one game the Bruins played Washington and they lost by one point. Lucic got hurt by number 26 of the Washington team. The Bruins captain was furious because of the injury. The coach of the Bruins, Coach Claude Julien, called a time out.

I love to watch the Bruins play hockey!

My friend Livy and I wanted to see each other before vacation was over. We decided to plan to go to Boston for the day. We planned to go to the Prudential Center on Wednesday, April 18, 2012. Livy, her mom, and her younger brother all met up at our house around noontime. From there all six of us climbed into my mom’s car. When we were in the car, Livy and I started planning on what stores we would go into while playing with our phones. We were so excited to go into our favorite stores. When we arrived, the first thing we did was walk around to see our choices of restaurants. The first restaurant we spotted, I think made

everyone very excited. We found a Cheesecake Factory. We decided to keep looking around for other restaurants just to checkout our options. We took an elevator ride up to the 52nd floor. This is the top of the Prudential Center. We checked out the menu for The Top of the Hub, which was the restaurant located on the 52nd floor. In the end we took a vote, and the majority wanted to eat at the Cheesecake Factory. We all had a great lunch, and the cheesecake was of course, very good! We somehow navigated our way around the Prudential Center without getting completely lost. Of course, two friends who are always reading decided to go into one of the largest Barnes and Nobles first. We were in the bookstore for around fifteen minutes. I bought the book I am currently reading Fear, by Michael Grant. We let the boys go into Game Stop, a video game store with Livy’s mom. My mom brought Livy and me to the Godiva chocolate store. We both bought a small chocolate truffle, while taking three pieces of free samples of caramel chocolates each. This was just half the day! We still went into other stores and had a lot of fun! In other words, this day is to be continued.

Saint Anna

I love Saint Anna basketball teams because I like shooting and defending. We play tag and games in the gym. I play Four Square at recess.

We learn languages-Italian and French. We sing in music. We color. We go to church.

others, and good and bad choices. I like that we get to talk about all the aspects of the Catholic faith, and I feel that has helped to make my faith stronger. Overall, I am very glad that my parents sent me to Saint Anna Catholic School, and I feel that I have benefitted from the experience in many ways. I had so much fun at this school, and I am sad to be leaving. I have learned so much, and made so many good friends. When I leave, I believe that I will take everything I’ve learned and all the friends I’ve made with me. I will never forget my experience here, and I appreciate everything this school has given me.

The Rivalry

BUZZZZ! The game was about to begin. Our team was facing St. Bernard’s. They had already beaten us in the first game of the season. As I walked onto the court, I was determined to defeat them. The referee pointed out the baskets we were to shoot at.

SMACK! The ball was hit to our team. We did our best when we were on offense, popping out to the sides for passes, then defending by using a zone defense during the game. BUZZZ! The first quarter ended, and we were ahead 6 -4.

At the beginning of the second quarter, it was St. Bernard’s ball. They had come up with a clever plan. They dribbled down and tried to fool our defense into thinking that they were passing the ball right to bring most of our defense right. We were smarter than they were. We were able to pick the ball off and intercept their pass. At the end of the second quarter Saint Anna’s was ahead 12 -6.

The third quarter began and St. Bernard’s was still calling the same play, but it didn’t work every time they tried it. We played our best and still held the lead. BUZZZ! The third quarter ended. We were ahead 16 -10.

As the fourth quarter began, fans were cheering, our coaches were directing and I was ready to play like Paul Pierce. We all tried our best to stop shots and to make baskets. BUZZZ! The game was over. We won 18-14. The fans cheered so loudly, I could barely hear the coach! We shook the other team’s hands. Our team was so happy, we screamed with joy!

Finding My First Ever Four Leaf Clover

I watched as my family and I pulled into the driveway. We had just come from Church. My Mom stepped out of the car first and took the bagels from Dunkin Donuts into the house. My Dad headed towards the door next. I think he was anxious to do the Sunday crossword. I dislike the newspaper crossword puzzles but everyone else in my family loves them. I sat in the car clutching my wake-up wrap (which was also from Dunkin Donuts) until I realized I should go inside. I stepped outside into the cool morning air and felt a slight breeze on my back. I always look for four leaf clovers each spring because I have never found one in my entire life. My parents have found them; my brother has about six of them, and I have found none. Even my cousin once found a nine leaf clover. So I was determined to find one. I looked at one patch of clovers and thought, “There must be one in here.” I had a lucky feeling. I gingerly poked at the clovers. I thought I found a four leaf clover, but realized it was just two regular clovers overlapping. After about five minutes of nothing, I was ready to give up and go inside. I looked one more time and there it was, staring at me. “A real four leaf clover!” I squealed. I plucked it right out of the ground and examined it to make sure my eyes were not playing tricks on me. It was real. I hurried back inside and told my parents. I carefully laid the clover out on the table next to me while I read the Sunday comics. My Mom pulled out one of her monstrous dental hygiene books and carefully placed the four leaf clover inside (covered by wax paper). After about an hour or two, my Mom found a little green frame and placed the clover inside. I now have my very own four leaf clover and ever since, I have felt truly lucky!

Baseball

When you first learn to play baseball, it starts with T-ball, goes to instructional, minor league and then major league. My favorite position is catcher. The catchers wear a helmet, a mask, chest pad, leg pads, and use a catcher’s mitt. The catcher has to squat down in front of the umpire. Sometimes the catcher needs a leg holder and it goes behind his knee. It holds up his leg when he squats so it doesn’t hurt. Sometimes, I am the pitcher. When you are the pitcher, you have to have a good arm so you can throw a good ball. If you throw four bad pitches,

the batter gets a walk. A walk is when the batter goes to first base without a hit. When I am at bat, I get shaky, because I am not good at batting, but I will keep practicing. The other positions in baseball are first, second, third bases; short stop; and left, right, and center field. This year I am on the Buffalo Wild Wings team. We won our first and second games. Our color is yellow. We play behind Northwest School. I love baseball!

My Ducks in Lebanon and their Wild Stories

Their stories start off when my dad and I went to Tripoli, Lebanon, to buy me a new duck. When we arrived, there was a man selling many types of animals, such as rabbits, a crocodile, dogs and ducks! My dad bought me three ducks. While we were driving home the three ducks (two babies and one adult female) tried breaking out of the boxes and had their webbed feet out of the box. We stopped at a pet store in Tripoli to get a stronger box for them so they couldn’t break out of the box. After we bought them a new box, we started making our way home, which took an hour thanks to the traffic. Finally! We had just arrived home when we saw everyone playing basketball on our horrible basketball hoop. Well… you couldn’t really call it a hoop; it didn’t even have a backboard, just scrap metal to hold it, and an old broken rim we found at the junkyard. They all came and wondered what Uncle

Nassif had, and they all found out it was new ducks! We had to keep them safe while my grandpa Assad made an area for them. We had to keep them safe from harm, which was actually a major challenge! They got out of the rock barrier we put around them to keep them in because at their age the chickens would kill them. We had to make a larger one each time they broke out. Finally the biggest pain of all broke out and went directly towards the parking lot and under a car, so we couldn’t get him out. After we trapped him in a corner, it took 30 minutes to get him in the box again. Right after we got him in the box and after some struggles, my grandpa told me the place was ready. You could see how mad I was. After he put him back, the mother started getting used to the male duck. (We later found out that they were the same age, and she laid eggs.) Unfortunately, one of the babies got dunked in cold water and he was too young to survive it. At least we had one baby left. That’s the story of my strange ducks and the struggles we had with them.
