WELCOME AND WELCOME BACK
The hallways have been quiet, the
walls have been bare, the school bell has
not rung, and our parking lot has been
empty; oh how we’ve missed you! We
have been working diligently through
the summer to present to our students
the campus they deserve! Fresh paint graces our walls, new technology has
been placed in all classrooms, a new parking lot, parent drop off line, brand new library and much more, are some of
the few things that you will notice. It
has been a busy summer in preparation
for the school year, but our campus is
ready and we hope our students are too!
For our new families we would like to
welcome you to our school and for our
returning families we would like to
welcome you back and thank you for
allowing Brooks Academy to be the
school that you have chosen for your
most precious gifts; your children. We
take it not only as an honor but a
challenge to expand their knowledge and
present to them the best school year
yet! This newsletter will be one of the
many tools that will be used to
communicate to our families’ important
dates, information and campus news. We
look forward to a great school year. Go
Bengals!
Oh How We’ve Missed You!

A Message from Your Head of School
Hello Bengal families, I was very pleased during the first week of school. As I
greeted many of you and your students, it reminds me that we are here to impact
student success. There are great things happening at BASE. It is my hope that
you will meet any challenges with determination, excitement and celebrate all that
makes everyone special.
Education is a joint venture between school and home. As we work with our
students to help them learn about the world around them through the prescribed
curriculum, we very much appreciate the support that parents give their children at
home as they strive to reach their learning goals. The foundation of a successful
school is the cooperation between the students, staff, parents and community.
Parents are a vital part of the Brooks School Community. Your contributions are
invaluable to the school through volunteer time and support of school activities.
I look forward to working with you and developing a relationship that will assist
in the growth of your student/students.
Sincerely,
Mrs. S. Coleman, Principal

1. Establish a routine If your family has not established a consistent bed time and wake up routine, you might find that the first few weeks back will be rough. It is never too late however, so start today. Students not only learn better when they’ve received adequate rest but your mornings will go a lot smoother without the resistance of a tired, grumpy student.
2. Eat a healthy breakfast Although this may seem like a given, statistics show that most student do not eat an adequate breakfast that will fuel them for their day. Stopping at the drive-thru for an occasional quick breakfast is okay, however should not be routine. Instead opt for brain power foods such as; fruits, eggs, whole grains etc.
3. Talk about their day Ask the right questions! This is key to getting the most information you can out of your students’ day. An example I do with my children is “Tell me the best part of your day. Now tell me the worse part of your day” This usually gives me all the information I need to assess if there is something I should be concerned with and what they deemed was exciting during their school day.
