confirmed, they will let their Tigers know. We do have the information packet regarding the Tiger Cruise so if you would like that, we can email it to you if you send us an email at [email protected], but we strongly encourage you to have your service member handle Tiger Cruise details.

Congratulations to our raffle prize winners. We will be raffling off some more cool stuff at our next meeting which will be on November 16 at the Murphy Canyon Chapel at 6 p.m. This is going to be a very informative meeting, we will have homecoming information, there will be a return and reunion brief, and the first kiss raffle tickets will be drawn.

If you live out of town but plan on being here in San Diego for the homecoming, here are the details for you to purchase your first kiss raffle tickets:

We will open up the out of town purchase’s from November 1-7, you can get 5 tickets for $10, and you can only buy one set and purchases are only accepted on PayPal. This will be your one shot to buy tickets, so you have a chance to win the first kiss. If you are a winner, we will notify you via email with all the details. PayPal is very easy to set up, but do it now so you are ready for November 1 - it is only a week away! (Yes, another page to turn on the calendar!) If you are local to San Diego, this is not an option for you. You may only purchase first kiss tickets at official FRG events, and remember, you get one free

ticket just for attending!

The adults Halloween party was on the 23rd and by the time this is sent out, there will already be pictures up on our Facebook group page. Stay tuned to see who the costume contest winner is!

This week is our diner’s night at Pick up Stix in Mission Valley, the flyer is attached, just give it to the cashier when you order and 20% of your pre-tax bill will be donated back to the FRG.

Have a safe and productive week!

FRG UPDATEGreetings Sailors and Marines! It is

hard to believe that we are another week down, and that much closer to our much anticipated reunion!

This week was busy for us in San Diego. First was our kids Halloween party, with 40 kids in attendance, thanks to the associations on the ship that graciously donated money, everyone had a great time! We also had our first diner’s night at Hooter’s of Mission Valley. It was great to see so many families and friends join us for wings and fried pickles! We should have the results of how much we made by next week so we’ll let you know in the next edition.

Next up, we had our monthly FRG meeting where Mrs. Cedrun read a message from the CO and we got information about the Tiger Cruise from our Ombudsmen. There is no firm date set for the return to port yet, or for the Tiger Cruise. If you have someone going on either the Hawaii portion, or the Camp Pendleton portion, p l ease have your

Sailors and Marines aboard USS Peleliu will be hosting Tigers at the end of WESTPAC 2010.

As we prepare for our voyage home a lot of requirements and planning will be going into making this a good Tiger Cruise.

The purpose of a Tiger Cruise is to let friends and family get a taste of their Sailors’ and Marines’ experiences at sea.

“It is used to show life out at sea for Sailors and Marines; to show the daily operations of a sea going ship in the Navy and also to give a good idea of what goes in to making a successful amphibious Marine force. Another tool used by the Navy and Marine Corps for recruiting is a Tiger Cruise for both branches of service,” Command Chaplain, Cmdr. Gary Clore said.

Iron Nickel Sailors and Marines have three Tiger Cruise options. The first option for the Marines: embark Tigers in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and disembark at Camp Pendleton. Option two is sailing from Pearl Harbor to San Diego, generally a Navy thing. Option three is a ‘Mini Tiger’ Cruise from Camp Pendleton to San Diego. The cost is $9.25 per day (E4 and below)/$10.80 per day (E5 and above) which covers meals and an additional activity and welcome aboard package fee (TBD).

“Tigers that depart the ship at Camp Pendleton will depart via LCU and those Tigers that are arriving from Camp Pendleton will embark via LCU,” Clore said.

Story by MC2(SW) John W. Shepherd II, Staff Writer Tigers’ sponsors will need to submit their registration forms no later than Nov. 15 via email. The registration includes a form that states Tigers’ intent to participate in Tiger Cruise 2010 along with other medical and personal information. The medical form is due on Nov. 1, and payment is due Dec. 1.

A variety of activities will be available for Tigers to enjoy while they are embarked. There will be an air power show, a static display of weapons used by the Marines and Sailors onboard, various tours of spaces such as the flight deck, hangar bay, engineering plants, pilot house, and other spaces onboard. MWR will be hosting activities like a flight deck 5K run and Steel Beach picnic and an assortment of games.

There are some restrictions in place to help make this a pleasant experience for our Tigers. All Tigers must be over the age of eight. Family and friends are equally welcome, but girlfriends, boyfriends, and spouses are not authorized to come on the Tiger Cruise. If Sailors and Marines bring someone of the opposite sex, the Tiger Cruise Committee will find a secondary sponsor of the Tiger’s gender. In the event the Tiger is of the opposite sex, then the Tiger will sleep in their secondary sponsor’s berthing area, otherwise they will sleep in their sponsors’ berthing area and racks will be provided as close to their sponsor as possible.

“We hope to make this Tiger Cruise a once in a lifetime event,” Clore said.
