Step into a 1920s speakeasy with this brilliant six-piece New Orleans inspired Jazz and Hokum Blues band, featuring the cream of vintage blues and jazz talent in Scotland. Tonight, they celebrate the musical pioneers who helped to

shape the early years of blues and jazz – from Memphis Minnie to Mamie smith – playing old standards as well as rare gems with a passion for the music, making it natural and fun for a contemporary audience. Inspiring!

Irresistible New Orleans musical magic from the singer that everybody loves, Alison Affleck. A sensational performer, hugely knowledgeable about early jazz and blues and a regular performer at the Big Easy’s top music venues, Ali sings music straight from the red hot roots of jazz. For this special one-off show, she invites the brilliant New Orleans jazz pianist and vocalist, Joplin Parnell, to join her top-line band featuring Colin Steele on trumpet.

Jazz225 presents a programme of jazz infused songs specifically written for younger ears. Performed by singer Jessie Bates, guitarist Haftor Medbøe and trombonist Chris Greive, the show takes its audience through a day in the life of a toddler, introducing young listeners to the instruments and engaging in interactive activities through sing-along and gestures.

Edinburgh pianist Fraser Urquhart’s trio joins forces with London based saxophonist Fraser Smith to pay homage to the great Dexter Gordon, the musician who rode the jazz wave started by the great Lester Young, absorbing everything that Charlie Parker was doing, yet always managing to communicate warmth and good humour. His sound was beautiful; his voice very special. They will perform iconic originals and standards from albums such as GO! And Our Man In Paris, played with all the intensity, coolness and character of the great man himself.
