WELCOME

Welcome to St Paul’s Cathedral. Wominjeka means ‘Welcome’ in Wurundjeri, the language of the Kulin nation, the land in which the Cathedral stands. We acknowledge and pay our respects to their elders past, present and emerging and to Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islanders with us today.

St Paul’s is home to worshippers from more than two dozen nations, seat of the Anglican Primate of Australia, and home church for Anglicans in Melbourne and Victoria. We are delighted that you are with us today: come and worship with us again.

For the past ten days, Christians of many denominations in many nations have been praying intentionally for the gift of the Holy Spirit to come among them to help bring in God’s Kingdom as part of a global wave of prayer, called Thy Kingdom Come.

We are delighted that you are with us this evening for this diocesan Thy Kingdom Come Beacon Event. Please join us in singing the hymns and saying those parts of the service printed in bold type. Please ensure that mobile phones and other devices are switched off.

On arrival you are invited to prepare two prayer tags. On one, write the names of those you have been praying for over the past days, and on the other a place in the world for which you are concerned. Please come forward before you take your seat and help light up the candle cross, symbolising the gospel of Christ going to the nations.
