The 5 featured short films were produced by internationally- acclaimed filmmaker and photographer Mike Snyder, a former Frostburg resident, and FSU graduates Sidney Beeman and Alexander Beeman. The five short films feature regional traditions and residents, including “Fly Fishing” with John Kirby, “Ramp Harvesting” with Caroline Blizzard, “Beekeeping” with Ben Cooper, “Barn Dance Calling” with Slim Harrison and “Old-Time Musicians” with Pete Hobbie and Dakota Karper. A live discussion with the filmmakers will follow the film screenings. The work is part of a larger project including films, podcasts, and photography. Selections have already been featured on the radio program, "Inside Appalachia."
The overall project, which includes films, photos and podcasts is supported in part by funding from the Community Trust, the Maryland Traditions Program of the State Arts Council, the Allegany Arts Council and Folklore & Folklife Programming at FSU.
