Amongst the vendors that lined Main and Fowlkes Streets was RoseMaLeigh, a busi- ness at its first-ever event that was sell- ing decorative wreaths to raise money to help fund a school trip out of state. “The business was actually started by three 13-year-olds,” Katy Gri- gar said of her daughter Avery and her friends Jacie Kainer and Jade Barton. “They started creating these wreaths to offset the cost for an educational trip to Washington D.C. with the school this year.” Similar to some of the other vendors last Thursday, Grigar expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to be in front of many local shoppers and support- ed events like Vendor Blender for their posi- tive impact on the com- munity. “I’m very much big into community events, so I love anything that supports Sealy, Texas, and the ability for our community to get together and to come out and support our local people,” said Gri- gar. Donna Butler of Country Scents Soap Co. said from behind her vending booth that she was happy to drive up Highway 36 from Wallis to interact with her cus- tomers from Sealy. “I love it because I’m not from Sealy but I’m pretty local and I have a lot of customers from here,” Butler said. “I enjoy coming back every year to meet my cus- tomers and get to show them everything that we offer.” With volunteers from FMUC estimating that this year’s attendance ranked amongst the top for the Vendor Blend- er events, the event was deemed a success by shoppers, vendors and the beneficiaries of the proceeds. “I definitely want to make sure that the community knows how much we appreciate them coming out every year and supporting it and making it bigger and bigger every year,” Ellis said. “We put a lot of love into it and their support goes a long way for us achieving our goals for the seniors in the area.” from page 1 VENDOR HANS LAMMEMAN Lesley Blanks and Monica Gross provided guests with drinks from inside the Virginia Gilbert State Farm building in Downtown Sealy last Thursday.
