Thursday Costume Instructions 2018
4:30PM Thursday 9-10 Hip-Hop -SP
#38- “I Dream of Genies”
o Wear costume as is
o Gold choker
o Tan tights underneath
o No-show undergarments
o No hairpiece
o White canvas “Ked”-type tennis shoes (miss Suni will be painting them gold!!)
Dressed to the 9’s Hair: Any style BUN on the crown of dancer’s head, NO WISPY’S!! All hair must be
back off of face and neck into a bun. Dancer’s may get creative and add braids but they do not have to!
Dancers will not have time to change hairstyles backstage!! We recommend starting with wet, gelled
hair and using the “Bun-Maker,” found at CVS, Walgreens, SallyBeauty, Walmart, etc. It’s the donut-
shaped bun-making aid. It comes in different colors and sizes for different hair lengths. There are many
videos on YouTube demonstrating how to use the “Bun-maker.”

Red Swimsuit Dancers:
o Red swimsuit costume halter clasps
behind neck
o Red fabric headband, tied in a double-
knot on top of head, secured with lots
of bobby pins
o Black vest (we are practicing in class
with these and will send home before
recital)
o No-show undergarments
o Tan tights
o Tan Jazz shoes
Black/White Dress Dancers:
o Wear Black/white costume as is
o No-show undergarments, Dancer may
wear nude-color leotard underneath
o Tan tights

o Red rose hair piece to be provided, secured with extra bobby pins to dancers left front side of bun

#14- “Chin Up”
o Pink tights
o Pink ballet slippers
o Wear Costume as is, NEVER IRON OR STEAM A TUTU EVER! IT WILL RUIN! Spaghetti
straps may need to be adjusted to fit dancer. Please secure top corners of blue bow at
dancer’s waist to her costume with a safety pin on each side so that it stays up.
o Blue bow hair piece secured with extra bobby pins in front of dancer’s bun
Starlight Show Hair: Hair slicked back into a “Bun-Maker” bun on the crown of dancer’s head, no bangs.

#25- “Baby, I’m a Star”
o Wear costume as is. Inside of collar may be “itchy.” You may put clear Fashion Tape
along the seam inside your dancer’s costume to smooth and keep from irritating dancer.
o Tan tights
o Tan jazz shoes
o Feather hairpiece secured at the base of the front left side of dancer’s bun with extra
bobby pins.

o Wear costume as is, never iron or steam a tutu, it will ruin!
o Flower head-band secured around dancer’s head, (behind hairline, not on forehead).
Secure with extra bobby pins.
o Pink tights
o Pink ballet slippers
o Wings will be provided Portrait Week and Backstage at the show. Dancer may keep her
wings after the recital.
