Principal’s Piece….. Welcome to the last newsletter for 2017. The year has certainly flown! I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the staff, parents, and of course the students for making 2017 such a successful year. The school and home partnership is a very important factor which allows Serviceton South State School to provide the best education for all students. I would like to wish you all a happy and safe holiday and look forward to seeing many of you next year. To our families who are moving on, we wish you well in your new endeavors. For our families who are returning in 2018, we look forward to continuing to work with you and your children. Thank you to our teachers, teacher aides and support staff for a successful year at Serviceton South. We wish you a relaxed and festive break. To our staff moving onto other schools, we wish you all the best. Staffing Update: We have some additional staff to acknowledge for their work here at Serviceton South who are leaving us at the end of this year. Our Guidance Officer, Jenni Scott will take up a position in 2018 much closer to her home. Thank you for the ongoing support that you have provided to our students in recent years. Thank you also to Sharon Kuypers who has been Acting Support Teacher Literacy and Numeracy this past semester. Your Reading intervention with our Prep and Year 1 students has been appreciated. We look forward to having Sharon return to our school for relief work in 2018. School Returns in 2018 on Monday 22 January Students who arrive at school from 8am are to move to the Undercover Area. - Have book lists completed and ready for school (involve your child in organising them)

- Get the children back into bed routines a few days before school recommences

- If you live close to school, go for a walk together and practise crossing roads safely. School Office Hours – The office will be open from Monday the 15th of January 2018. Report Cards All students should have now brought home their Semester 2 report card. If you have not received it, please check your child’s bag or ask them

where they have placed it. End of Year Concert This morning we held our End of Year Concert to celebrate all students and staff at Serviceton South. Congratulations to all students who were brave in taking a position on the stage and performing a song or routine with their class. It was an enjoyable way to end the year with so many parents and community members supporting our school. Notification of Teacher and Classes for 2018 A letter was sent home yesterday notifying what class and Teacher your child/children will have in 2018. Please remember that this is a draft only and it depends on our Day 8 enrolments. Classes are subject to change.
