Dr. Kenneth Ellis is the Senior Pastor of the Northeast Community Church, Norcross, Georgia. He serves as Associate Professor in Christian Ministry and Moral Rehabilita-tion and also as Director of Phillips State Prison Extension Center both for New Or-leans Baptist Theological Seminary. Dr. El-lis previously served the North American Mission Board (SBC) as an Evangelism Group Team Leader and has also served as a Regional Chaplaincy Administra-tor for the Federal Bureau of Prisons, and chaplain for several federal prisons. Prior to this, he was Pastor of the First Baptist Church in Burnham, Illinois (a suburb of Chicago). He was born in Eustis, Florida and grew up near Orlando. He has minis-tered throughout the U.S., Kenya, Ghana, England, Switzerland, and Germany. Dr. Ellis has been married to Penny Hildreth Ellis of Birmingham, Alabama for 29 years and they have four children: Imani, Nailah, Aisha, and Emmanuel. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Kentucky University (Bowling Green, KY), a Master of Divinity and Doctorate of Min-istry from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Kentucky.

Dr. Jim Futral has been the Executive Di-rector-Treasurer of the Mississippi Bap-tist Convention Board since 1998. He is also Author of Directions, The Baptist Record, (1998-present). He served as pastor in SBC churches for 35 years; most recent Broadmoor BC, Jackson for 13 years. He is a past President of the Mississippi Baptist Convention (1987-89), Member, Executive Com-mittee and Mississippi Baptist Conven-tion Board (1990-96) and a Member, Executive Committee, Southern Baptist Convention (1996-1998) He is mar-ried to the former Shirley Fay Moore of Bessemer, Alabama. They have three children: Melodi, Rob, and Mysti and eight grandchildren: Madi, Trea, Ridge, Rivers, Banks, Coleman, Mary Lamar, and Clay Dr. Futral is a graduate of Clarke College (1964), Blue Mountain College (1967), New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div. 1977) and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (D.Min. 1980). In Addition he holds several honorary degrees.

Dr. Kevin Smith is the Teaching Pastor at Highview Baptist Church, Lou-isville, Kentucky and Assistant Professor of Preaching Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Before being appointed to the faculty, Professor Smith served Southern as the Martin Luther King, Jr. Fellow since 2002. He has been a church planter in Tennessee and a pastor in Tennessee and Kentucky, and served Watson Memorial Baptist Church. In 2006, he became the first African-American ever elected Vice President of the Kentucky Baptist Convention. He has planted a church in Tennessee, pastored in both Kentucky and Tennessee, and served on multiple mis-sion teams in the Caribbean and Africa. Kevin and his wife Patricia have been married for 21 years and have 5 children. He is a member of the Organization of American Historians and the American Society of Church History. Dr. Smith holds a B.S., Hampton University; M.Div., Church of God Theological Seminary; Ph.D. (candidate), The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Dr. T Vaughn Walker is the WMU Professor of Christian Ministries (1996) and Professor of Black Church Studies (1986).Dr. Walker was the first African American scholar to be elected to the fac-ulty of Southern Seminary. He has also been a visiting professor at Berea College and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Dr. Walker has contributed to several journals and other periodicals. Dr. Walker is a frequent speaker at conferences on both the church and Christian social ministries. Dr. Walker married his Hampton University college sweetheart, Dr. Cheryl D. (Jackson) Walker. They have three children (David, Mary and Eryn) and 5 grandchildren (Celeste, Celvion, Jai, Joi, & Josiah). He also serves as senior pas-tor of the First Gethsemane Baptist Church in Louisville. Dr. Walker holds a B.S., Hampton University; M.S., Eastern Illinois University; M.Div./C.E., The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary; Ph.D., Oregon State University.

This mission field dynamic informs a missional conversation that is primarily racial and secondarily cultural. Both Black and white churches now and going forward will need to wrestle with cross racial inclusion. These modules will address this conversation in practical biblical ways.

Music and WorshiPlawrence and yolanda overbeyWorship is the heart of God. In these ses-sions we will talk about what authentic worship looks like. How to facilitate group worship in various settings, among diverse peoples, and different size churches in the small and mid-sized context.

church adMinistrationWillie mclaurin and chris elkinsExplores carrying out the business and orga-nizational side of the local church. In ad-dition to church administration principles, personnel and insurance matters will be discussed as well as legalities and financial record keeping.
