“Fair is foul and foul is fair” in Aquila Theatre’s thought-provoking portrayal of Macbeth’s chaotic world, where nothing is

as it seems and men combat their own fates. True to Shakespeare’s language and genius, The New Yorker describes this production as a classic “made relevant with superb acting and clever staging” that will have students on the edge of their seats.

What’s in a word? That’s the essence of the best-selling novel by Andrew Clements that inspired this playful look at creativity and the power of words. When the dreaded Mrs. Granger turns the tables on a curiously troublesome student, young Nick decides to rename a pen a frindle. Fighting for a word he believes in, Nick succeeds in adding his word to the dictionary and building a lifelong friendship with his teacher.

Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia, a Northeast Wisconsin educator favorite, returns this season to share two bedtime classics by Margaret Wise Brown and Clement Hurd. Inspire your students’ interest in reading and the arts with a show that uses innovative puppetry to share the beloved bunny tales “Goodnight Moon” and “The Runaway Bunny.”

A musical based on Eleanor Estes’ famous book, The Hundred Dresses follows Wanda Petronski, a girl who speaks strangely, has a

funny last name and lives in the wrong part of town. With all that against her, who would ever believe she has a closet full of one hundred beautiful dresses? Her classmates at Franklin Elementary School are not convinced, but they soon learn firsthand the cruelty of stereotypes and harsh words, the power of imagination and the courage to stand up for others.

Following in the footsteps of Sherlock Holmes, Nero Wolfe and other great sleuths, Nate the Great takes on his toughest case yet when his neighbor Annie asks for help finding her missing painting. He’s found lost balloons, books, slippers, chickens and even a lost goldfish, but this case will test all of his detective skills. Although Nate believes that great detectives work alone, he finds that unraveling mysteries is easier (and a lot more fun) with a partner in this musical based on Marjorie Weinman Sharmat’s story about teamwork and friendship – imaginary and otherwise.
