Most non-CFTS inspections meet LOLER 98 requirements...

Controls: Controls and linkages are checked to be fully functional and not showing signs of wear.

Rating plate: The rating plate is checked to ensure that it is securely attached and displaying clear information.

Hydraulic systems: All elements of the hydraulic systems are checked to ensure they are operating safely.

1 Tilt mechanism: The tilt mechanism is checked for damages and that it still moves in a controlled manner.

Chains: Chains, anchors and pulleys in the lift mechanism are checked for damage and corrosion.

Mast: The mast is inspected throughout its full range of extension and movement.

Load guard: The load guard is checked to make sure it is safely mounted and structurally sound.

Carriage: The carriage, including the fork arm carrier and load rest extension must be free from damage and properly mounted.

Forks: The fork arms must be of the correct capacity and must not be overworn, cracked, deformed or damaged.

Attachment side shift: If there is an attachment or sideshift on the truck, this is checked for damages and also safe operation.

Overhead guard / cab: We check the overhead guard and cab for any signs of damage which could affect the truck structurally.

Safety systems: Safety system are checked including any audible or visible alarms, seat switches and interlocks.

Structural fastenings: All structural fastenings are checked to make sure they are still secure and undamaged.

Wheels: Wheels and assemblies are checked to make sure they are fixed correctly. Particular attention is paid to wheel bearings.

Chassis: The chassis is inspected for cracking and signs of damage, in particular the welds.

Brakes: Both the parking and service breaks are checked, including hydraulics, pneumatics, mountings, pedals, levers and linkages.

Steering: All mechanical and hydraulic steering parts are inspected for signs of failure, corrosion, damage or excessive wear.

Seat restraint: Any operator restraint, including seat belts are checked to ensure it is fully functional and free from damage.

Seat mounting: The seat mounting is checked to make sure it is absolutely secure, this includes panels and any mechanisms.

Traction system: The traction sytems including prime mover and transmission are inspected. This also includes exhausts and emissions on diesel and LPG models or the battery and connections on electric trucks.

Counterweight: The counterweights fastenings are checked for any signs of damage or excessive wear.

Tyres: Tyres are checked for correct fitting, bonding issues, excessive wear or damage.

As a minimum requirement we will carry out a Thorough Examination inspection:

• Every 6 months if lifting people or operating in harsh environments• Every 12 months (for all other lifting equipment)• After installation and before first use• On any occassion where the equipment has been involved in exceptional

circumstances that could put at risk the safety of the equipment.
