WELCOME TO THE THIRD THORNTON HEATH ARTS WEEK! The week certainly highlights the wealth of creativity that we have within our community. Continuing from the success of the past two years, new talent has emerged, excitingcollaborative ideas developed and the importance of the Arts is being recognised in regeneration processes.

The Art Weeks success is in its committed, collective approach. Artists of all disciplines working together, combined with the continued generosity and support of the local community and venues without which we would not function. Its strong community links enable the creative projects to continue and develop throughout the year.

We hope you are inspired watching and creating Films, Art, Poetry, Photography, Drama, Dance, Music and Radio: there really is something for all. Everyone’s commitment makes things happen and together look what we can achieve!

Writers/authors will read brief extracts from books they have written, interspersed with open mic and spoken words artists and where the winner of a young people’s short story competition will be announced.

SAXOPHONE COLOSSUS THE LORD NAPIER PUB8.00PM - 10.00PMLocal jazz hero, Don Weller, born and bred Thornton Heath, comes together with double bassist Andrew Cleyndert and drummer Dave Ohm for a concert of modern jazz. Don Weller is a long standing stalwart of the British Jazz scene and is highly regarded by fans and peers alike. A unique voice on the saxophone Don plays with an indefatigable style. Performing with him are two virtuosic talents, eclectic bassist Andrew Cleyndert and superlative drummer Dave Ohm. NOT TO BE MISSED!
