While the rest of the world was preparing to party and welcome the New Year
along with family and friends, Shriram City North clubbed work with fun to gear up their
employees for the coming year.
The fun started within the office premises with events like ‘Musical Chairs’ followed
by ‘Dumb Charades’ and ‘Passing the Parcel’ where all teams came forward and
participated enthusiastically. The senior colleagues also involved themselves in the activi-
ties. Apart from judging the various events, they also stepped to motivate everyone present
at the gathering. Winners were also appreciated with a token of encouragement by the

Shriram City’s everyday heroes….hats off to you!
People often underestimate their own power to make a difference. Everyday
heroes are born when one individual decides to do what it takes to make life a little
better, a little easier, or a little happier for another person.
At Shriram City, we are proud that we have seen not one, but three such
examples in the last month. Three of our employees in the Chennai zone spontane-
ously came forward to donate blood for an emergency surgery on 21st January 2014
at Chennai. They are:
Ramanujam A. - Legal Department
Singaravelu B. - Testing and Control
Sundararajan S. - Corporate Accounts Team
We take this opportunity to appreciate the effort and willingness that these
employees have displayed.

Financial Management in a Family
Rising costs and unavoidable expenses make it necessary to keep a tight control on
family finances these days. Some basic financial management is a must to ensure that
money is used wisely to provide for your family’s needs:
Make a monthly budget and involve your family members in the process so that all
possible expenses are covered
Assess monthly earnings, spends and savings regularly. Keep a close watch on the
amount that goes towards family savings every month and increase it whenever
possible
Consult books, magazines , and experts to know what your investment and financial
planning options are.
Educate yourself on money management constantly
Be cost conscious. Correctly identifying needs and wants, and then prioritizing them
can go a long way in saving money
Set achievable goals for family holidays/trips, and work systematically to achieve
them
Last but not the least, try to help a less fortunate person whenever you can…… each
one of us can make a difference!
‚A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.‛

For Your Information
We are sure that you would have heard about the RBI’s latest circular on withdrawing old
currency notes from general circulation.
What exactly is the RBI referring to while talking about ‚Old notes‛?
How does it affect us and what should we do to comply with the RBI directive?
Please find below the key points of the RBI circular to help you know what needs to be
done:
The Reserve Bank of India has decided to completely withdraw currency notes issued prior to
2005.
Currency notes issued before 2005 will be accepted for money transactions only till 31st
March 2014
After March 2014, the public can approach bank branches for exchange of old notes on an
ongoing basis, till 30th June 2014
From 1st July 2014, banks must obtain proof of residence and identity from non-customers
who come to exchange more than ten pieces of Rs 500 or Rs 1000 notes.
So make sure that you have your old currency notes exchanged before the deadline!

Many a time, we make grand plans for our lives and careers. But we forget to
factor in the roadblocks that will crop up on the way!
Obstacles come in all shapes and sizes, and each one needs to be tackled dif-
ferently. As you work on achieving your goals for the year remember that dis-
cipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment. The longest and
toughest journeys are normally the most rewarding.
Take pride in how far you have come, and have faith in
how far you can go !
A parting thought…..
