Sunday, November 15th at 9:30 a.m.; meeting in the church parlor. Whether you have questions

our God, and how His love gives direction and meaning to your life today and forever. This class is

designed for those who are interested in learning or reviewing the foundations of the Christian faith.

Attendance at the class may lead to membership in our church, but there are no obligations. Watch

THE MEN’S CLUB reminds you it’s time to place your order for our fresh homemade Pork

FEEDING THE HOMELESS: This past Monday evening, the Tallyn and Niewald families served dinner to our 70 friends at Sts. Peter and Paul shelter in Soulard. Thanks to the Youth Group who gave us

their leftovers from their recent German dinner, we had loads of brats to serve the men. We added

baked beans, cheesey potatoes, applesauce, cookies made by Carol Mittler, and brownies left from the Youth Group dinner. Everyone was able to have second servings.....a wonderfully filling evening.

Thank you to our Youth Group for thinking of the homeless in our community when deciding what to do with their

extra food. Thank you to the Niewalds and Tallyns for preparing and serving the food, and to Carol for her delicious

cookies.

Please join us in this ministry. We serve dinner to 70 homeless men the first Monday every month. We're currently scheduling for the first several months of 2016. Contact Suzanne Hough at [email protected] to

learn more or volunteer.

SEMINARY CHRISTMAS COLLECTION – New or like-new items, including toys,

household items, scarves, mittens, etc., may be placed in the marked box in the

atrium anytime in November. These donations make it possible for seminarians and

their families to purchase inexpensive Christmas gifts. Couples’ Club appreciates

everyone’s participation in this project.

Women's Guild invites all ladies of the congregation to the annual Christmas

Banquet on Tuesday, Dec. 1. Appetizers will be served at 6:00 and catered buffet

dinner at 6:30, followed by a program titled, "Blessings from the Manger," and gift

exchange. Reservations can be made on Sunday morning, Nov. 15 and Nov. 22, with

payment of $12 for adults and $7 for children 6-11, or call Rita Eckert, 298-3484, by

Nov. 23. Guests should bring a $5 wrapped gift to participate in the gift exchange.

Thanksgiving Food Offering: Our annual Thanksgiving Food Offering will take place during the week of Thanksgiving, Sunday November 22nd through Sunday, November 29th. The offering will be used to provide Christmas dinners to families served by the Lutheran Community Center housed at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in St. Louis City.

We're asking our members to provide a set of non-perishable items which will be used to provide a complete dinner to one of our families. Please drop the items off at church anytime during the week of Thanksgiving. We'll put the items in a festively wrapped box, along with a fresh ham, and deliver the boxes to the families the week before Christmas. Shopping lists are available at the Welcome Desk. Please contact Suzanne Hough with any questions at [email protected]. Thank you for sharing your blessings with these families!

Christmas Gift Collection: The Community Care Team is once again coordinating Immanuel's Christmas Gift Collection. We're asking you to purchase a $25 gift for a child served by the Lutheran Community Center. Please sign up to sponsor a child at our table in the gym on Sunday, November 29 or December 6. We'll give you a gift tag with a child's name, age, and a few gift suggestions supplied by the parent/guardian. Place the wrapped gift under the Christmas tree outside the sanctuary no later than Sunday, December 13th. If you prefer, we'll be happy to accept your check and we'll do the shopping for you! The gifts will be delivered Saturday, December 19. Any questions, please contact Sheila Stelzer at 636-530-9657. Thank you for your generosity!

Come see the Art!!!!

Please take a moment when you leave today to see all the pictures of artwork our P2 – 8th

graders have created this year so far! You’ll find them posted in the display cabinet across

from the Parlor. Also make sure you don’t miss additional pictures of the kids in action

during the school day in the hall on your way to the gym. We have very talented kids and

are so proud to show off all they do. Thank you for your ongoing support of Immanuel

Lutheran Day School.

Facing the Holidays after the Death of a Loved One

Are you dreading the holidays because someone you loved has died? Do you feel you just don’t have the energy for all the holiday traditions without your loved one? If so, please join us on November 13th at 6:30 p.m. for GriefShare’s Surviving the Holidays. During the two hour program, you’ll get practical advice to help you plan for the holidays. You’ll also receive a booklet with spiritual support, ideas for honoring your loved one and tips to help you navigate the holiday season. Consider attending with a family member. For

more information contact Paulette Pierson (314-628-9022 or [email protected]).

GriefShare - Sundays 3 to 5 pm

GriefShare at Immanuel has begun! But if you missed the first meetings you don’t need to wait for another cycle to begin to join us. You are welcome to join the group at any

time. If you are grieving, the idea of committing to a support group might seem like too much for you right now. But, attending a GriefShare session does not commit you to participating for all 13 weeks. If you have lost a loved one to death and are feeling the weight of that grief consider trying GriefShare. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Paulette Pierson ([email protected] or 314-628-9022).

The GriefShare ministry team is looking for volunteers to assist with childcare at Immanuel during the weekly

Sunday meetings from 3:00-5:00. Please prayerfully consider sharing two hours of your Sunday once a month

or more to assist families going through the grieving process. Substitutes are needed for backup as well. Please

contact Elizabeth Seddon (914.960.5759).

Join us for Immanuel Day at Chevy’s on Sunday, November 15th . Visit Chevy’s Fresh Mex

Restaurant (Olive at 170) anytime between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. for great food, fellowship, and fun all while supporting our school. It’s a great opportunity to grab an early lunch after church, an afternoon nosh, or a yummy Sunday dinner. Dine in or take out; it all counts!

High School Host Family Needed

Are you willing to host a high school student (currently a sophomore) during the school year starting January

2016? She will need a ride to Westfield High School (Mason & Ladue Roads) for next semester, but she is

planning to drive after she gets a license next summer. The family will pay for this arrangement. Contact

Becky Shaw for more information 314-991-8804 or [email protected]

Technology Committee: Are you interested in serving? The Technology Committee reports to Council. It is a team of 3 individuals appointed by Council to provide recommendations for technology related projects. Some of the areas the committee may be asked to address; computer network (hardware, software, PC's, servers, ...), phone system, audio visual systems, church office and school needs. The committee may at times be in a consulting role for projects looking to others in the congregation for assistance or recommending outside resources. If you are interested, please contact Bryan Hackmann. [email protected]

which you have signed up. (If no occasion for flowers is received, the name only will appear in the

worship bulletin.) If you wish to have a particular flower or color, or to request a center bouquet,

please contact Arlene Coulter at 428-8133. The cost of two side bouquets is $50 payable to

Immanuel Women's Guild. Payment can be placed in the Women's Guild mailbox located in the print

room, or mailed to the church (Attn: Women's Guild). Please indicate the date of the flowers on or

with payment. Prompt payment (within 2 weeks) is appreciated.

BULLETIN DEADLINE: Information for the Bible classes, flowers, prayers and announcements needs to reach the church office by Wednesday noon of that particular week.
