Dear PEP Member,

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Independence Day. We are all so lucky to live andwork in an area with such wonderful natural resources to enjoy during the summer months.I'm grateful to all of the PEP Member organizations that work to preserve and enhance lifealong the Gulf Coast.

As you know, for the past few months, we have been showcasing our PEP MemberEnvironmental Award recipients. This month we highlight Alabama Power Company andMobile Gas. Take a look below to see what they're doing to improve the local environment.

Artificial Reef ProjectPEP extends special recognition to Cooper/T.Smith for their critical assistance with thisproject.

Alabama Power Company repurposed two 200,000 pound metal package boilers for anartificial reef, a project that promotes the entire triple bottom line of Alabama's Gulf Coast:economy, environment and our people. This reef will serve as a haven for red andmangrove snapper, grey triggerfish, amberjack and more! Read more via this link.

Creating a Public Greenspace from a Vacant Plant SiteMobile Gas created a public greenspace, Caldwell Field, on the site of a retiredmanufactured gas plant in the heart of Mobile. Vacant since the 1970's, the site is locatedwithin the Bring Back Broad renewal project and at the head waters of One-Mile Creek.Read the full story here.
