Pluto has aneccentric orbit. It straysfrom the planetary plane, and once every orbit, itspath takes it inside the orbit of Neptune.

The planet Saturn hasthe most extensive, colorful, and complexring system, togetherwith the largest familyof moons of any planetin the Solar System.

The closest planet to the Sun, Mercury moves faster than any other planet in the Solar System. It was named after the Roman messenger of the gods.

The second closest planet to the Sun, Venus is similarin size to Earth. It spins clockwise in the opposite direction to other planets.

Our home planet, Earth, is the only one that has water and supports life. Earth takes 24 hours to spin on its axis and one year, or 365 days, to complete one orbit of the Sun.

The more distant a planet is from the Sun,the longer its orbit.Neptune’s orbital periodis almost 165 years.

This planet is remote: it istwice as far from the Sunas Saturn. Uranus orbits the Sun, tipped on its side.

Jupiter is immense: itcontains two and a halftimes the mass of all theother planets put together. It also spins faster than any other planet. One rotationtakes only ten hours.

The rst planet beyondEarth, Mars rotates on its axis in a similar time toEarth but it takes almost twice as long -- 687 days-- to make one completeorbit of the Sun.
