Nativity Memorial Christmas Tree

This year, as in years past, a Memorial Christmas Tree will be placed in church to honor those special people who have passed from our lives. The tree will remain in the church throughout the Christmas Season, and will feature various colors of ornaments with tags listing the names of your relative or friend. Our tree will be displayed near the Mission Crucifix shrine, near the votive candles, in order to allow family members an opportunity to privately view their treasured ornaments, offering also a prayer for their intentions. If you would like to make an offering to have an ornament placed on the tree, please fill out the form below and return it to the rectory by Friday, December 9th. You can place your order in the collection, mail it or stop by our office during regular business hours. The Memorial Tree will be placed in the church on the Third Sunday of Advent. If you have any questions, please call the rectory at 570-457-3502.

HOLY ROSARY SCHOOL POINTSETTIA SALE

Dear Friends,

Time is really flying, and it is hard to believe Christmas is right

around the corner! We at Holy Rosary School are holding a

poinsettia sale to help with tuition assistance and are asking for your

support. You have been so generous with fundraisers in the past, and

it is always deeply appreciated.

What a wonderful way to add to the Christmas décor in your home

by buying poinsettias and helping to continue providing Catholic

Education. The great part is that there are so many choices! If you

would like to order, please fill out the form below, and return with

your payment to the school by Monday, Nov. 25th. You may also

drop it in the collection basket by next Sunday, November 25. If you

are writing a check, please make it out to Holy Rosary School.

Thank you for your continued support of Catholic Education

here in Duryea.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Melissa Skutack, Principal,

and Mrs. Lisa Simkulak, Pre-School Teacher

RELIGIOUS ED NEWS AND NOTES CCD classes for grades K-7 will continue today at the usual time with grade 8 meeting at 5:15 pm.

FAMILY MORNING Today, Deacon André is continuing Family Mornings in conjunction with the monthly Grade Youth Mass. Today, those in grade 6, along with their parents/guardians will come together for breakfast and a session with the Deacon.

Our annual TREE OF HOPE project begins this weekend, to aid the poor or lonely in our parish and community in order to give enough notice so that donors could take advantage of the many sales that are sure to be popping up in the next month or so. Coordinated by

our parish Women’s Society, this program helps those who for whatever reason might

find nothing under their tree or in their stocking. The Tree of Hope will have tags with information such as ages or sizes. Simply take a tag, and as you do your Christmas shopping, return the item wrapped with the tag attached and place in the totes in the vestibule of the church. Anyone who may know of an individual or family who is struggling, lonely, in need of some help or in need of our love at Christmastime is asked to contact the rectory. Please include the person or family’s name, address, age group, and what they may need. We will make sure a tag is placed on the tree for them. All information is strictly confidential.

MEN’S SOCIETY Our next meeting will be held on Monday, November 18, 2019, at 6:30 in the rectory. All are welcome, new members also.

CHOIR and MUSIC MINISTRY NOTES: Our parish music ministry welcomes members of all ages and backgrounds, no experience necessary. Our Senior Choir rehearses on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm, and sings at each weekend Mass, as members are available. Men and altos needed especially, and sopranos too!! Our children and young adult Junior Choir sings each week at the 11:00 Mass; just come on up and we will get you started. The Junior Choir will rehearse a few times to get ready for Christmas--watch the bulletin for details. Instrumentalists and Musicians also welcome, see Mr Tighe for ways you can help. Don’t think that an electric guitar, accordion or bagpipe fits in? Well, maybe not at most Masses, but consider joining us for the Duryea Christmas Stroll or Christmas Carolling as we sing and entertain out in in the community. We look forward to “hearing” from you!!!

The GIFT CERTIFICATES that support Holy Rosary School and other Diocesan schools may be purchased on Thursday from 8:00-10:00 am in the church hall.

WOMEN’S SOCIETY Our next meeting will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2019, at 6:30 in the rectory. All are welcome, new members also.

FURNACE TROUBLE FURNACE TROUBLE We were informed last week that the heating unit for the rectory offices is no longer able to function properly. This is an unexpected and necessary expense. Because of the unit’s age, there is danger of carbon monoxide leaking into the rectory office and meeting rooms. The cost of the new HVAC unit is around $12,000.00. Money for this project will be made available from parish savings; however, any donations towards the new unit to help defray the cost and lessen the depletion of our savings would be greatly appreciated. If you are in a position to help, please use a plain envelope marked “Rectory Heating Project,” include your name and/or envelope number, and place in the Sunday Collection or send it to the rectory. Last Week, over $1,000.00 was raised! THANK YOU! And, thank you for your consideration of this matter.

TOYLAND BINGO!!!!! Friday, December 6 Holy Rosary PTO is hosting the Annual Toyland Bingo on Friday, December 6. Doors will open at 5:00 pm and Bingo starts at 6:00 pm. $10 admission includes 3 bingo cards for every regular game. We hope you can join us for this awesome event!!
