The Point Yacht Club Newsletter

The Point Yacht Club Mission Statement
This Club exists to provide water related recreational opportunities for its members. We are dedicated to encouraging the safe and skilled operation of vessels owned by the members. The Club is a not for profit organization operated for the benefit of the members.
Many improvements have been made to the interior of the clubhouse in July. The cabinets donated by the Ashers and Erikssons were installed by Don Fuqua, Mike Graham, Kenny Menck and Hank Jordan under the direction of Mike Hawkins. New countertops, donated by Hamby’s Kitchen Center in Lillian, were also installed.
Brett and June Holk have installed the electric outlet covers and some interior/exterior light fixtures which will help give the club a more finished look. Robert Clark has also installed the kitchen sink and dishwasher.
The interior painting of the clubhouse is almost complete. I want to send a special thank you to all who helped in this endeavor – Paula and Kenny Menck, Becky Graham, Veda and Jack Kelley, Lani Bond, Barbara Evans, Pam and Alan Lamiere, Rivers Brink, Harold Gibson and Cindy Jordan. The clubhouse really looks great so please stop by and see these improvements.
The Landscape Committee, consisting of Diane Bunch, Kathy Cunningham, Susan Carr and Paula Menck, developed a plan for the street side landscaping around the clubhouse and the street entrance. These plans were presented to the developer and approved. Materials are being delivered to begin the project and more volunteers will be needed soon for the installation.

Thanks again to all the many volunteers and donors who have helped to make our club a facility that we can be proud of and enjoy!
The Fast Women Regatta will be held on August 1st and our members are encouraged to participate in the race and come to the awards presentation and party in the afternoon.
The Annual Poker Run will be held on August 22nd. The various stops are hosted by club members and Mike Hawkins is looking for volunteers to assist at these stops. More information will be provided soon on this popular event.
And remember, you don’t have to wait for a club function to come out and enjoy the view or watch the sunset or just sit on the deck for a while. I want to encourage all PtYC members to utilize our beautiful “new” club.

Rear Commodore’s Report My sincere thanks to the paint crew for all their work painting the inside of the clubhouse. It looks great. Brett & June are trimming out the electrical outlets. Robert Clark will install sink faucet & dishwasher this week. We also have a roofer coming this week to fix leak around the plumbing roof vent. We need 5 to 7 club members to host spots for the club poker run on August 22. Please contact me if you are willing to host a stop this year. Last year we raised $800.00. This year with all your help we are shooting for $1000.00. Thank you, Mike Hawkins
