There is –  There are 

Generalidades:

Tanto there is como there are significan hay. La diferencia está en su uso. There is lo usaremos cuandoestemos hablando de sólo una cosa y especialmente con los sustantivos no contables. Y there are cuando hay

más de una cosa, por lo que se puede usar con los sustantivos contables

La estructura es igual a la usada en el verbo to be, así que puede conjugarse en todos los tiempos en que se puede conjugar este verbo, por el momento veremos los ejemplos en presente simple:

Afirmativo:

There is + sustantivo singular o no contable

There are + sustantivo plural

Negativo:

There is not / isn’t + sustantivo singular o no contable 

There are not / aren’t + sustantivo plural 

Interrogativo:

Is there + sustantivo singular o no contable

Are there + sustantivo plural
