Paper Clover Campaign Tractor Supply Company
When: October 3 - 14 , 2018
Where: Tractor Supply Company,

For every Paper Clover sold in the Santa Fe Tractor Supply during October 3 - 14, 2018, Galveston County 4-H will receive 90% of the $1 cost of the Clover. Clovers are sold at the register and employee’s will push the sale of the Clovers with each customer throughout the week.
Commissioners Court Baskets
Baskets Due: October 4, 2018 by 5 p.m.
The Commissioners Court provides a great deal of support to our 4-H program and this is the time of year we thank them for their support. All clubs are expected to supply items for the Commissioner’s Court Baskets. Items may include 4-H coffee mugs, thank you notes from 4-Hers, candy, fruit baskets, etc. Donate five of each item as there are five members of court.
One Day 4-H Event When: Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Where: HEB (Bay Colony) 2955 Gulf Fwy S League City, TX 77573
4-H’ers will greet customers, ask them to consider purchasing an item to donate to B.I.G. Love Cancer Care from the "wish list" provided. We will collect and deliver the items. Kids can work 2-hour shifts.

B.I.G. Love Cancer Care supports and serves children with cancer and their families at Houston area hospitals including: Texas Children’s Hospitals and The University of Texas MD Anderson Children’s Center Hospital.

Galveston County Master Gardeners have once again requested the help of 4-Hers to assist at their annual Fall Plant Sale. 4-H’ers will be “Wagon Wranglers,” helping customer wheel their shopping wagons.

National 4-H Week is a week-long celebration of 4-H. You can promote the organization and teach people in your community about 4-H. Clubs can host an open house or some members choose to do presentations about 4-H at their schools or on the local news.
4-H Spirit Day Tuesday, October 9, 2018 is 4-H Spirit Day, so wear your clover to school, work, wherever you go and show your 4-H spirit!

ALL YOUTH needing a Quality Counts number to enter contests are REQUIRED to be verified on the new system for Spring Major Show Entries. All previous quality count numbers are no longer valid. This applies to youth:
1. exhibiting market or breeding livestock
2. submitting calf scramble applications

Major Show Calf Scrambles
Calf scrambles are a great opportunity for youth to re-ceive funds to help them purchase an animal project. Families are then financially responsible for the nutri-tion, housing, and grooming program. Things to con-sider before scrambling:
- Is family financially able to purchase, house, and feed an animal project?
- Do you have suitable facilities to raise animal ? - Would you devote the necessary time and attention? - Would you be able to spend the necessary time away
from school to care for and exhibit the project?

Ages: Intermediate 4-H’ers 6th-8th Grade
Cost: $85 (includes one night lodging, all meals, program activities, insurance and supplies).

Youth Hunter Education Camp
Registration Deadline: October 15

When: October 26-28, 2018
Where: Texas 4-H Center, Lake Brownwood, TX
Age requirement: 9 to 15 years of age.
Cost: $300
Adult Volunteers MUST enroll as a 4-H volunteer, have verified background check, and complete child protection training in 4-H Connect Prior to camp.
Learn hunter safety, hunting responsibility , and hunting laws and ethics. Camp is interactive with live fire sessions. All equipment provided. This camp is designed to follow the Texas Parks and Wildlife Hunter Education Certification curriculum. All participants will be able to receive their basic Hunter Education Certification by attending the camp and completing the course requirements, which includes a final written exam.
This is a family style program, meaning a parent will attend along with their kids and learn the same knowledge and skills. Lodging is also family style, with all family members staying in the same room. One adult may accompany multiple youth in the same family. Hotel Style lodging is available on a first come first serve basis.
