Plastic Animal Word Lists

The animals I listed below came primarily from the zoo, farm and sea creature pack with a few others

from the “assorted” bin. Please note that I am using these for general educational and speech therapy

purposes so I might use the same animal, at different times, to be: ex. leopard, panther, cheetah or

jaguar depending on a child’s goals. I am fully aware these are different animals!

Phonetic alphabet: I know some SLPs like to have informal assessment tools up their sleeves. Dump a

bunch of these animals onto a play mat and you can elicit a language sample that meets some of your

articulation assessment as well. Animals that you would need to locate in addition to the ones I’ve listed

previously are in parenthesis. Some sounds don’t cooperate. I’ve given some ideas for how to elicit in

brackets.
