CWA starts the year off strong with first class of 2019
Our Community Works Akron program (CWA) got off to a great start in 2019 even if a little polar vortex got in the way for a couple of days It should be a great sign of the year to come
CWA is not a job placement program or a staffing agency We are a partner Members of CWA are on the career path from searching for an entry-level job to seeking a promotion to management Our goal is to help our members find dignified stable work that offers sufficient pay and benefits so they can provide for themselves and their families
The CWA approach offers a 4 point system to help members successfully manage barriers to employment We started 2019 off with 7 graduates of our new job readiness
workshop called Jump Start
Jump Start provides job seekers with the basic skills needed to conduct an effective job search and increase job retention Per assessment and recommendation by CWA Employee Support Specialists members will be assigned to take our 5 day workshop or specific sessions Advance members may skip the job readiness component per approval
Jump Start is facilitated by
staff and volunteers The curriculum which addresses the unique issues facing todayrsquos job seekers provides participants with the lifelong tools needed to discover their skills choose a career goal and effectively market themselves to potential employers
Congratulations to our January graduating class
