Hello Friend and Neighbor,

My name is Sue Gillman the Executive Director of The Wren’s Nest. I wanted to take the time to introduce myself and invite you to be a part of The Wren’s Nest family.

100 years ago the children of Atlanta and major donors combined their fundraising efforts to found a museum and commemorate the life and legacy of Joel Chandler Harris, author of the beloved Brer Rabbit and Uncle Remus children’s stories. Harris touched the lives and imagination of avid readers all over the world and in 1913 those readers decided to repay the favor.

For the past eight years The Wren’s Nest has been giving back to the children of the community through one on one mentorship in literacy and writing as well as professional and career building workshops and hands on experience. Every year local middle and high school students join together to tell their stories through writing and publishing and learn how to make their voices heard in the world. Now as the organization enters its next 100 years of service, I invite you to be a part of The Wren’s Nest Family and inspire continued learning and education in your community.

With your donation of $25 or more you can ensure the continued learning of a child in your neighborhood.

I believe that a hands-on education is a great way to improve writing and communication skills and inspire continued learning in young people.

Dear Ms. Jane Doe,

Another year has come and gone and I just wanted to say thank you for letting us at The Wren’s Nest be a part of it.

As I was sitting out on the front porch the other day, as Mr. Harris so often did, I overheard one of our storytellers entertaining a group of children. They gasped as Brer Rabbit was thrown into the briar patch and laughed as that rascal out smarted Brer Fox yet again. As I heard their giggles and shouts of excitement my thoughts turned to you.

It is because of your continued support that these children are able to hear stories and tales that have been passed down for hundreds of years. But we can still use your help. That is why I would like to urge you at this time to consider making your annual donation so that our storytellers can continue to bring this experience to children all over Atlanta.

Thereareseveraloptionsformakinganannualdonationsothatyoucanfindawaytocontinueyoursupportthatworksbestforyou.Donationbenefitsincludefreeadmissionto the museum, Wren’s Nest merchandise and invitations to special events in our backyard. About Us Donate Today Tell A Friend

Hello Jane,

What is the most crucial aspect of a child’s education? Personal attention? Hands on experience? Having their voice heard? All of the above.

Through my work at The Wren’s Nest I have confirmed my belief that every child deserves the best education possible.Becuase of the Scribes program children have access to one-on-one mentorship in writing and editing so they can tell their own stories and have their voices heard. For the past five years the Scribes program has transformed the education of 124 students.

But there are many more children that deserve the best education possible, and I’m asking for your help.

I have personally seed the growth and confidence that the Scribes children have experienced and I beleive that it is in our power to work to better the lives of these kids. But don’t just take my word for it. For more information about our programs and what you can do to help vistit us at wrensnest.org/programs.

Your gift of $25 or more can help transform the life of a child and give them a brighter future.

PS: In order to provide these services, all funding must be secured before the start of the school year, so donate today and take this opportunity to make the difference in the life of a child.

With best wishes,

Sue Gillman Executive Director
