Greetings in Christ!
It is with great appreciation to the Lord Jesus Christ and His
leading in my life that I will begin my journey here at Westville
UnitedMethodist Church serving as your pastor.
I would like to take this opportunity to send you a note of thanks for the warm welcome
I have already received, and I am looking forward to joyous and fruitful ministry in the
years to come.
Just a little information about myself…my name is Toby Guill (pronounced Gill) and I
am 48 years old. My wife’s name is Kim, and I’ll just let you ask her how old she is.
Together, we have a son named Zachary who is 24 years old and is in the process of
discerning his call to ministry. Our home, which is located in Burns Harbor, is rounded
out with our two dogs – Gracie and Cooper.
I have a full-time position at Arcelor Mittal Steel in Burns Harbor where I work “shift-
work” on the Pickle Line. This type of work schedule keeps me from having what
some might call a “normal life”. I, however, vow to make myself available to everyone
via phone, text, or email. I’m also on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat –
(I’m just not very good at using all of them.)
I accepted Jesus as my Savior on July 9, 2008 after a drowning incident at Lake
Michigan. I accepted my call to ministry only a couple of years ago and became a
Licensed Local Pastor in December of 2018. I have been serving as pastor in Whiting
Indiana for the past year and a half. I am currently enrolled in Course of Study classes
where I am learning so much about being an effective leader in the church and I
anticipate graduating in about nine years. (Don’t order the cake yet.)
I look forward to meeting each one you, if not for the first time – then meeting you
again.
I’m super excited!
Pastor Toby Guill

.June 13, 2019 Church Council
Present: Jane, Kim, Phil, Evert, Jan, Pastor Cathy, Kathie
Devotion was read by Kim
Minutes of the May meeting were approved
New Business: A discussion was held on people leaving during the service with disruption. Children should
always be accompanied by an adult. This is a safety issue for our children.
Old Business: It was agreed by our team to accept and print the following as a Welcoming Statement about
our church. “With open hearts, open minds and open doors; we welcome people of all races, nationalities the-
ologies and abilities. We welcome people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. We offer a safe
and compassionate place to reconcile faith, identity, hope, understanding and mutual respect”. A motion was
made by Jane to approve this statement, and it was seconded by Jan. There was some discussion and the
vote was unanimous to accept this welcoming statement
Discipleship – Kay Tetzloff
Education: VBS is July 29th- 31st.

Care & Share: We will have the Free Farmers Market in July as gardens begin producing, about the 3rd Mon-
day in July, 5-6pm
Resale Shop: The resale Shop is doing great and can always use more help. Improvements continue all the
time.
Food Pantry: NR
UMW: NR
Finance: Monthly and year to date reports were shares.
SPRC: Farwell Pot luck Meal for Pastor Cathy will be after service on June 30th.
Our new Pastor Tobv Guill will begin on July 1st. His first Sunday to preach will be July 14th.
Trustee: We have had a bit of water in the basement and it has been repaired. The trustees are working on
getting the KDO part of the basement put back together. We have enough money to take care of that part of
the basement. The roof on the parsonage is leaking and needs to be replace. The ever gracious resale shop
is paying for that repair. Thanks be to God!
Pastor Comment: As Pastor Cathy is leaving our church we asked her for some advice for our church com-
munity. Her thoughts were to make sure we have the people to run our ministries. Bring out peoples gifts
and pray for guidance from God.
Meeting adjourned, Jane Bachman

Give as the Lord calls you to give: be as generous to God as God has
been to you!
Sunday School Teachers are needed. Thank you to all those who have volun-teered to teach and care for our children. We still need a few more people to fill in occa-
sionally as a substitute. Teaching children can be a blessing to the teacher as well as the
children. They are the future of our church.
