It is spring! Yes, I don’t know about you, but I love to hear the birds singing. And I am looking
forward to seeing some flowers blooming! I think the beginning of April is a time of looking forward
so such things as warm weather, flowers, and Easter. The whole month of April is usually a time of
looking forward to warm weather and flowers. Did I mention Flowers? I think I am ready for color in
our landscape!
This year is different, Easter is in mid-April! So, this year come April we are still thinking Easter is a
ways off. But it will be here quickly. Easter is a day of celebration and rejoicing! It is also a day of
new clothes, great food, and families coming to together. Therefore many are spring cleaning and
thinking of what to serve for Easter dinner. I am hungry just thinking about it.
There are lots of things to do in a church in preparation for Easter. We are in the midst of planning the
services for Holy Week. Who is going to do what, what hymns will we sing, and a myriad of other
details. However, as we come towards the end of Lent and start thinking of Easter; let us not forget to
prepare our hearts as well. After all, that is the point of Lent. Ask the Lord to draw you closer to
Jesus. Ask the Lord to give you insight into the scripture you are reading. Ask the Lord to fill your
heart when you pray. Ask the Lord to show you the beauty and wonder of taking up our cross and
following Jesus.
Maybe, April is a month of lists. I seem to be making a lot of lists in this reflection. However you
choose to approach April, may the Lord bless you mightily and fill you to overflowing.
Pastor Cathy
