Dear Epiphany, Greetings in the powerful name of our Risen Lord! Thank you for your partnership in the mission of the Texas District! Your witness, your prayers, and your 2015 financial commitment, which support the proclamation of the Gospel in the Texas District at every level, are critical. Thank you! I recognize the difficult decisions that congregations have concerning budget and the allocation of dollars, which is why we highly value your financial commitment in 2015. We prayerfully apply any and all contributions for the greatest impact in mission. God continues to richly bless the results of your generosity and stewardship. For example: 1. Your partnership with almost 400 other congregations supports nearly 140

missionaries. 2. Since 2004 there have been 99 new church starts. That means that a new

church began every 5.5 weeks in the district since 2004. 3. Half of these starts worship in a language other than English. 4. These missions have added 9,000 additional worship attendees in our Texas

LCMS congregations. If you would like to view a more complete list of the blessings of partnership in Texas, you can go online to www.txdistlcms.org/downloads/2015 factsheet.pdf. (Or simply go to txdistlcms.org and click on Resources>Stewardship Resources>Fact Sheet.) I encourage you to share this information with your congregation. As you can see, God has blessed the Texas District and the work we do together. While this mission momentum is exciting, there is much more to do in the kingdom. That is why I highly value your partnership in the Gospel, and I pray God’s richest blessings on all that you do in your community and congregation. Once again, thank you for your witness, your prayers, and your financial support! In Christ, Rev. Ken Hennings President, Texas District, LCMS

Dear Members and Friends of Epiphany, After weeks of diligent thought, conversation and prayer, I have decided - by the leading of the Holy Spirit - to ACCEPT the Call to become pastor at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale, Texas. Nearly 6 years ago, I came to you an inexperienced pastor who still had much to learn. You embraced me and my family with overwhelming acceptance and support and generosity. You have been a support to us both in the ministry and in personal times of struggle, especially at the birth of our youngest son Eli. For that we will always be grateful. Our time among you has simply been a phenomenal ministry experience, where our family has grown and our faith has grown in the grace of our Savior, Jesus Christ. While much has changed about the ministry here over the last 6 years, I am confident that the Holy Spirit will continue to use well the body of Christ at Epiphany. I especially want to thank Pastor Jon for all that he has done to mentor me and guide me as I grew into ministry at Epiphany. He is an excellent pastor and I only hope I can be a senior pastor like him. I firmly believe God places people together for a reason and I am thankful for the partnership in ministry I have had with my senior pastor and friend, Pastor Jon. Finally, the ministry opportunities God is laying before me at St Paul, Thorndale are exciting. As much as we will miss Epiphany I am glad for the opportunities for Pam and our children to be involved in the ministry of the Lutheran school there, as well as to nearer to our family. Pam and I believe the Lord is indeed leading us to this course of action. In the weeks ahead, as we continue to minister among you for a short time longer, we ask that you would please pray for us that the Lord would open doors to a smooth transition as we sell our home here and transition to a new home. We love you and we will always cherish our time among you. May the Lord richly bless you now and forever. Your Brother In Christ, Pastor Aaron

TEXAS

DISTRICT

CHURCH

EXTENSION

FUND

You may know the Church Extension Fund as the ministry that provides vital low-cost building loans to LCMS churches and schools. But did you know that CEF also provides savings and investment opportunities to individuals and organizations of the LCMS? A vital benefit – while your investments are earning interest for you, they are also providing the vital funds needed to create places where ministry can impact lives. There are about 127 borrowing congregations in the Texas District. Savings that you place with CEF earn interest that is very competitive with

local financial institutions; in more than 100 years of its existence, CEF has never failed to honor an investor’s withdrawal request. Also, CEF can help us teach our children about money management with KIDS Stamps. They can buy 25 cent or $1 stamps and paste them in a book. When the book is full it’s mailed to CEF and a savings account is opened in the child’s name and it begins to earn interest. Our children can enjoy the wonderful feeling of helping others while learning their first lessons in stewardship. For further information, contact Larry Williams, or Mel Medack.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU! If you enjoyed the delicious cookies that were served on Easter morning, you can say “thank you” to many special people who helped to make it happen. Epiphany is so blessed with folks who are willing to pitch in when the need arises so it is difficult to name each and every one. We were so pleasantly surprised to have SOOO many cookies to serve on Easter morning – Epiphany’s cookie bakers really outdid themselves this year and, wow, are we ever grateful! Thank you also to the ladies who helped to serve the refreshments on Easter morning – you are a blessing. Until the next big event, we say a big “thanks” and God bless you!

HEAVENLY SOUNDS

KIDS SAY THE DARNDEST THINGS …

Why did God make mothers? 1. She’s the only one who knows where the scotch tape is. 2. Mostly to clean the house. 3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.

How did God make mothers? 1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us. 2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring. 3. God made my mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts.

What ingredients are mothers made of? 1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean. 2. They had to get their start from men’s bones. Then they mostly use string, I think.

Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom? 1. We’re related. 2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people’s moms like me.

What kind of little girl was your mom? 1. My mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff. 2. I don’t know because I wasn’t there, but my guess would be pretty bossy. 3. They say she used to be nice.

What did mom need to know about dad before she married him? 1. His last name. 2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer? 3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?

Why did your mom marry your dad? 1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my mom eats a lot. 2. She got too old to do anything else with him. 3. My grandma says that mom didn’t have her thinking cap on.

Who’s the boss at your house? 1. Mom doesn’t want to be boss, but she has to because dad’s such a goof ball. 2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees stuff under the bed. 3. I guess mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.

What’s the difference between moms and dads? 1. Moms work at work and work at home and dads just got to work at work. 2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them. 3. Dads are taller and stronger, but moms have all the real power ‘cause that’s who you got to ask if you want to sleep

over at your friend’s. 4. Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.

What does your mom do in her spare time? 1. Mothers don’t do spare time. 2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your mom perfect? 1. On the inside she’s already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery. 2. Diet. You know, her hair. I’d diet, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be? 1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I’d get rid of that. 2. I’d make my mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did it and not me. 3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

JUNE 15 – 19, 2015

9:00 A.M. - NOON

AGES 3 YRS – 5TH GRADE

COST: $10

We are all getting packed and ready to head out for our adventure at CAMP DISCOVERY and we hope you will join us! Epiphany’s VBS will take place from June 15 – 19, 2015 for kids ages 3 years old (must be potty trained) – 5th grade. It is our prayer that the Camp Discovery VBS will show kids how Jesus works through them in their everyday lives.

Registration has begun. Visit Epiphany’s website to find the link to sign up. Payment is also available online when you register. The cost will be $10 per child for the week which includes snack, craft, imagination station and a t-shirt.

VBS won’t be a success without our wonderful and giving volunteers and we are in need of lots of help in every form. No matter if it is one day or all five; we need your help to make VBS a success! We would love any volunteers going into 6th grade and up. We are in need for all areas: Crew Leaders, Preschool Crafts, Games and everything in between. Volunteer sign up is also available on Epiphany’s website.

If you have any questions, please contact Krystle Gutierrez or email [email protected].
