The Wesley Connector When was the last time you started something new? I’m not talking about a new Netflix series, I’m talking really entered into something new: a new town, perhaps joined the church, a new class, new employment or friendship? What was that like for you? Excitement, curiosity, danger, elation, nervous… the range of our human emotions seem endless. As a church we have a new experience welcoming Jordan, Sharon and Leah Cramer this weekend. Perhaps we are excited, nervous, curios or elated. I’m sure the Cramer’s share your feelings too! I am offering to you the same words I shared my family when we arrived in July of 2017 and the same thing I shared with the Cramer’s: “Trust in what God has done to bring us together. We have been praying for each other for a while now, good seeds of Grace have been sown and grace will emerge. Remember, we are cheering for them, they are cheering for us. Now go be who God made you to be.” Jordan is coming to Wesley UMC following over five years of service at Cross Way United Methodist Church as the Worship Leader. Sharon is currently a school teacher with Denton ISD. As the school year wraps up (May), the Cramer’s will be moving to Greenville. For the first 3 months, Jordan will be serving as the Worship Leader in The Living Room 9:17 and will be here part time. After their relocation in May, Jordan will take on full time duties as the pastor to the Living Room (Jeff’s current role with The Living Room) and our Director of Adult Christian Education. We will see you Sunday .....as for how I’m feeling, I’m excited! In Christ, T H E Y O S T P O S T JANUARY 31, 2019

BOARD BRIEFS The first Administrative Board meeting of 2019 was held Sunday, January 20, 2019 after the 10:30am worship service. Members of the 2019 Administrative Board are:

Many of Wesley participated in the Feasibility Planning Study for the Debt Reducation Capital Campaign. conducted at the end of last year. Thank you for taking the time on this. At our meeting, a considerable amount of time was spent reviewing the study and accompanying report. From the review, a common theme emerged: We, as the Board, have an opportunity to communicate more clearly to our congregation. We intend to accomplish this goal through the newsletter… so watch for Board Briefs in each edition of the Wesley Connector. We will continue addressing questions/concerns through the Board Briefs.

If you have specific questions/concerns or would like a matter addressed by the Board, please email Katie Martin ([email protected]).

Per the Staff Parish Relations Committee: Jenifer Hines resigned on January 4, 2019. Jenifer requested her effective date be January 24 and to not be shared until after she departed. The Staff Parish Relations Committee opted to honor her request, particularly in light of her 15 years of dedicated service to Wesley. Jenifer said she did not like goodbyes and thought it would be too tough for her to have to say goodbye.

Jenifer is looking forward to working from home at her new job and wished everyone the best. We are deeply grateful for Jenifer, her service to Wesley and her love for our Church.

Building a Mission of LoveLife Group - Living Through Christ. Tthat is what one of our Life Groups will be doing over Spring Break as they head to Juarez, Mexico to build a house for a needy family.

The group, with five who have been part of previous missions in Juarez, is eager to give and share this experience with our own families as well as with the family in need. Two members, Katie Martin and Megan Rosenbalm, will open a healthcare clinic for two days and offer free healthcare for the area. The total trip of four days includes travel time, lodging, health clinic and the construction of a house.

This mission is in partnership with Proyecto Abrigo (Project Shelter). Wesley UMC has participated in many projects and is excited to work with Proyecto Abrigo again. When it first began, members of Wesley helped its start up. Our own Dick Fox constructed the beds for the lodge and they are still slept on today.

Proyecto Abrigo helps families build a stand alone home on land that they own. This home, 12x24ft, consists of a concrete slab, cinder block walls, a roof, one door and one window. Running water is available outside the home from a spigot.

HOW CAN YOU HELP? Each house costs $3200. This includes all construction materials, including door and window, plus the cost of hiring two maestros to lead the building project.

We are selling bricks to help cover the cost of the home. Each brick is $20. There is no limit to the number of bricks you can purchase. By buying a brick, you are also part of our mission team. We will be in the narthex each Sunday through February 24th.

Thank you for your support. We cannot wait to share our experience with y’all after we get back.
