The History of Gene and Ken Ackerman ScholarshipThe scholarship is named for Wellington’s visionary founder, Ken Ackerman, and his wife, Gene. Mr. Ackerman’s founding objective was to give students from every background the chance to succeed and celebrate their individual talents.

“The function of a really fine school is to allow every youngster who attends to become a star, to become a champion, to be the best they can be,” Mr. Ackerman said.

“That’s something independent schools can and should do.”

Ackerman is a highly regarded national leader in warehousing and supply chain management, but education has been a lifelong passion. Since 2007, he has also been a group chair for Vistage International, the world’s leading chief executive organization. Ken and Gene are longtime leaders in Columbus and continue to be very active in the community.
