Hymnals for Houston
As we all know, Hurricane Havey ravaged the Houston area during 2017, and the community is still overcoming. While I was down in Houston at the Youth Leadership Summit in November, I had the chance to meet Pastor Deb Grant of Faith Lutheran Church in Dickinson, Texas. Her church was completely washed out by Hurrican Harvey, and they are still recovering to this day. Some of my friends and I came up with the
idea to send hymnals to Pastor Deb and her congregation, so they would not have to spend the money to purchase new hymnals and for us to show our support. There are three hymnals in the Gathering Area, take
a minute to write some encouraging words, a favorite Bible verse, or just sign your name, to let Faith Lutheran Church in Dickinson know that as brothers and sisters in Christ we are one and we support each
other’s ministries. - Nathan Budnik
Green is the color we associate with growth in nature. It is also the liturgical color for the time after Pentecost. During this season
shades of green are used to indicate our growth in faith as we follow the teachings and ministry of Christ.
Martin Luther once said, “God writes the Gospel not in the Bible alone, but also on trees, and in the flowers and clouds and stars.”
This summer we are fortunate to display “the Gospel” through a beautiful handmade quilt featuring flowers and fruit in each unique
quilt block. The blocks from top to bottom, and left to right depict the following:
( Some of these you may recognize as “flowers of the Bible”. )
************************************************************************
The quilter of this special banner was Bernadean DeYoung, a local lifetime quilter. This quilt came to us as a memorial gift by Bernadean’s daughters, Kris and Rosalie DeYoung, to honor their mother who passed last year.

Personal Care Kits News We are continuing to pack items for our personal care kit project. At this time we have completed 855 kits. We need at least 145 more to match last year's total of 1050. With your help we can accomplish this goal. Our biggest need right now is for dark colored lightweight bath towels. Any contribution that you can make will help us reach that total. If you wish, cash contributions can also be made. Simply indicate "Personal Care Kit Project" and place in the church offering. The need continues in many places throughout the world. These items that we simply take for granted can be a difference
maker in many peoples' lives. Please consider making a donation to help us serve others. We have been blessed and this gives us an opportunity to be a blessing to others as well. If you have any questions about the project, please contact Dave Keammerer at 462-8447 or [email protected]. Thank you for any contribution that you make.
