The Southeastern Minority Job Fair will be held onFriday and Saturday, August 10 & 11, at the EmbassySuites Hotel Airport in Atlanta Georgia. Last year, 106employers interviewed students from the 43 participatinglaw schools. The program's goal is to promote a formatthat enables employers to meet a diverse candidate pooland to facilitate the efficient hiring of minority law clerksand attorneys. Registration information for students willnot be received by my office and disseminated until may16'. If you are interested in receiving information aboutthe job fair, please stop by the Career Services Officeto sign-up and leave you summer contact information.You may also pick up a student timeline and hotelinformation. By signing-up, you are not committingyourself to attend the job fair, only ensuring that you willreceive the information. Last year, our students receivedseveral offers based on interviews conducted during thisjob fair. The job fair is for first, second, third and fourthyear students.

The Capital City Lawyers Association is accetpingapplications for the Stephens-Taylor Scholarship Award.This scholarship honors the late Ralph L. Stephens andHerman L. Taylor, two outstanding Wake CountyAfrican American lawyers who dedicated their lives topreserving equality and civil liberties of AfricanAmerican and other minority citizens of this state. TheAssociation will award $1000 scholarships to graduatingstudents to provide financial assistance which they hopewill allow the recipients to focus exclusively on Barpreparation. To apply, please submit an essay (not toexceed two pages) discussing career goals, a transcript,one letter of recommendation, and an address andtelephone number where you may be contacted. Thisinformation should be submitted to Attorney Morgan inthe Career Services Office (Room 201) no later than12:00 noon on Thursday, April 26h. To be eligible, youmust be sitting for the July 2001 North Carolina BarExam. Recipients will be notified of their selection inearly May.

The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of NorthCarolina is accepting applications for paid internships inthe Clerk's Office in Raleigh. Interns will assist the Clerkand Deputy Clerks in a variety of projects including

to be the first Josephine Merck Environmental policyFellow in NRDC's New York office. This two yearposition is available starting August 1, 2001. The newFellow will join a staff of more than 180, which includeslawyers, scientists, and policy analysts who work toprotect public health and the environment throughadvocacy and education. The Fellow will work on issuesrelated to urban areas and climate change.
