We Witnessed a Miracle July 6! Our “Grand Opening” was the greatest day in the history of our church. There is only one word which can adequately describe what has taken place, it is a “miracle.” In the fall of 2010 our church had dwindled to only 60 people, and the giving had fallen to a critical level. It looked as though we would be forced to close our doors forever. In 2011 God began to perform a miracle in the life of LaBelle. That miracle was clearly seen by the entire Olive Branch community on “Grand Opening” Day, July 6. 357 in Sunday School, a record attendance for Bible Study. 794 in worship, again an all time record attendance. The parking lot was full, and people had to park along Highway 305. The choir had 76 singers, this was both a record attendance and a dream come true. Monday night outreach had over 80 people going out to invite our community to join us for July 6. There were 41 first time families who registered their attendance. We baptized our first people at this new location. This will be a day we will never forget. The smiles, hugs, tears and greetings made it evident that God is doing a great work among us. However this is not the end. . . .it is only the beginning. Only God knows what the future holds for LaBelle. Our prayer is for the miracle to continue. There are thousands of people who are lost and need Jesus. There are thousands more who are believers, but have fallen away from their walk with their Lord. Our task is to reach them with the Gospel of good-news. Our journey has just begun. We Witnessed a Miracle July 6! Our “Grand Opening” was the greatest day in the history of our church. There is

only one word which can adequately

describe what has taken place, it is a

“miracle.” In the fall of 2010 our church

had dwindled to only 60 people, and the

giving had fallen to a critical level. It

In 2011 God began to perform a miracle in the life of LaBelle. That miracle was

357 in Sunday School, a record attendance for Bible Study.

794 in worship, again an all time record attendance.

The parking lot was full, and people had to park along Highway 305.

The choir had 76 singers, this was both a

record attendance and a dream come true.

Monday night outreach had over 80 people

going out to invite our community to join us

for July 6.

There were 41 first time families who

registered their attendance.

We baptized our first people at this new

location.

This will be a day we will

never forget. The smiles, hugs,

I cannot count the times that you have asked me, “how did you feel about Sunday?” A one word answer is. . . .Fantastic! How else can you feel when you witness a dream become a reality. Our Grand Opening was everything I had prayed and dreamed it would be. I told our staff if we had 800 people present in the middle of the summer, and on a holiday weekend, it would be a major miracle. Well, we just witnessed a major miracle with 794 present for worship. It could not have happened without you. I don’t dare mention names, but dozens of you have worked for weeks helping us move, put things away, decorate, clean and get set up again. From moving chairs to sweeping floors, putting up signs and flags, to getting the kitchen organized; you have done a wonderful job. I could not be more proud of you. I knew God was up to something great when about 80 of you showed up at our Monday outreach to help us go door-to-door putting out flyers. So many of you stepped up to volunteer to work the parking lot, greet the people, serve in the Welcome Center, seat people in the Worship Center and serve as Ushers. Your enthusiasm spread to hundreds of people as they came to worship with us. The sound and lighting crew did an amazing job. I especially loved the changing of the cross color above the baptistery as people were baptized. It was a picture of the blood and purity of a person who sins have been forgiv-en. While we will not have as large a crowd in the weeks to come, we have planted seeds which we will be harvesting for years. We will never be the same.

A WORD FROM. . .

OUR PASTOR

One More Word About Food & Carpet Our Deacon Body wants to thank all of our people for being so good about keeping all food and drinks in the Atrium and off the carpet. They realize that at the old location Sunday School classes could eat in their rooms. However, at our new building we are asking classes NOT to do this. With rare exceptions, you have done a great job of keeping the food on the tile. If you see someone with food or drink in an area where it should not be. . . .please remind them very sweetly. . . .to take it back to the tile area. Trash cans are at all areas where carpet begins.

Our Deepest Sympathy: Dr. Butler, and his wife Lawanda, would like to extend our church’s sympathy to: Bob & Shirley Manker & family on the loss of Michael Weimer, to Kay Austin & family on the loss of her uncle, to Joan Allen & family on the loss of J. B. Allen, to Matt Waddell & family on the loss of Sue, to the family & friends of Glenna Smith and to Edith Taylor & Ed & Jo Sneed on the loss of Della Cole.

Music Ministry By: Rev. Ken Washburn,

Minister of Music & Sr. Adults

On Sunday Evening, August 17th we are excited to host our first special concert event as we have Daves Highway coming to lead us in worship. They will be sharing a couple of songs in our morning service and the full concert will begin at 6:00 PM. Internet sensation Daves Highway is the Mississippi-based trio comprised of teen siblings Delaney, Zachary and Erika Daves. Since posting a home video on YouTube in 2009, the group has amassed more than 8 million video views, released 2 studio CDs, and have made concert and TV appearances

across the U.S. Their latest work A Brand New Day leaves listeners with a positive message of love and encouragement. The trio’s voices combine to create a remarkable musical blend, which can only be created by what’s known in the South as “blood harmony.” “Music has always been a big part of our lives at home, church and school” says Zachary. The versatile trio effortlessly jumps from one genre to another, and they appeal to audiences of all ages. We need your help in getting the word out to our congregation, guests and community. We would love to see our Worship Center filled to capacity that evening. We have posters and flyers available in the office and we are asking our members to help us spread the word about this very special event. Mark your calendars and do not miss this great worship opportunity.

Sr. Adults - Our J.O.Y. Choir is scheduled to sing for the residents of New Albany Health & Rehab (118 S. Glenfield Rd.) at 10am, on July 17. After ministering to the residents, we will go

to Taylor’s Restaurant and eat lunch together at 11:15am. Our next Senior Adult Luncheon will be July 31, at 11:30am. The church is providing the meat, you are asked to bring your favorite side dishes and/or desserts. Our entertainment that day will be will feature our J.O.Y. Choir and an old fashioned hymn sing.

We Were Blessed With Guests! Not only did we set records on July 6 for Sunday School attendance, worship attendance and choir attendance; but we also set a record for the number of guests attending our worship. There were 83 families who turned in Guest Registration forms on July 6. Evidently our efforts in door-to-door outreach, the billboard, newspaper advertising and your word of mouth really paid off. Never before have we had so many guests. Besides the 83 families we know about, there were dozens of others that were here and did not turn in a form. Bro. Jim has already made a personal contact to all these families. We are planning our next outreach so we can visit in their homes as quickly as possible. If you see a family/person you do not know, please make them feel loved and welcomed in our service.

FROM REV. PHIL ANDERSON, ASST. PASTOR & MIN. OF EDUCATION Donut Helpers Needed

We need volunteers to assist in the Donut Ministry. Would you be willing to come to church a little early 1 Sunday a month to assist with donuts? You will need to stop by Charlie’s Donuts on Hwy. 305 to pickup the donut order, make coffee, set out orange juice, and then clean up afterwards. The best part about this ministry is you get the first choice of donuts! Two people are needed for each Sunday. Some serve with their spouse, while others choose to serve with a friend. If you would be interested in serving, please contact Bro. Phil or Ed Miller ASAP. Imagine Sunday without donuts!

357 in Sunday School Bro. Jim is always talking about having 50 people in worship 3 years ago and how worship has grown. Just take a moment and look at the number 357. That is nearly 300 more than what was in that worship service that Sunday when it looked as if all hope was lost. Wow, God is so Good! Who could have imagined that we would be where we are today and the innumerous blessings that our Lord continues to pour out on His people. We are going to need some additional teachers quickly. Please pray that our faithful God will provide the teachers we are going to need in the very near future. He is doing great things!

Bus Drivers Needed LaBelle’s Bus Ministry is a vital part of our efforts to assist some of our older members with transportation to and from church. We currently need at least 2 more drivers that will assist in transporting these ladies on Sunday mornings. You are not required to possess a CDL or any special endorsements on your license. All you have to do, is watch a short DVD, answer questions in a booklet, and take a short driving test. Our goal is for you to drive 1 month and then have 2 months off. Would you please consider serving in this very important ministry? If so, please contact Bro. Phil.

Youth Notes! By Jamie & Jenny Mullen

No summer break here. We are keeping busy. July 5th we are having a promotion pool party for the 5th graders moving into youth at Becky Baskin's house from 11am to 4pm. Friday July 11th, we will leave the church at 8am heading to Magic Springs Amusement Park for the day. In an effort to start raising money for camp next year we will have a fundraiser at Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt on Getwell Rd. July 29th, from 5pm to 8pm. We need everyone to help promote this fundraiser with your friends and family. We will receive 20% of the profits from this event. So put it on Facebook, send emails, and call everyone you know to come out and help support our youth. We want to thank everyone once again for supporting and loving on our youth.

Children’s Corner By: Debbie Johnson, Children’s Director

V.B.S. is only a few weeks away and it will be an “All Hands on Deck” event. Please plan on helping the week of July 21st thru 25th. I still need help in all areas. Please step up and help. Sign up at the nursery counter. This is our chance to shine and show the families around the church and in

the Olive Branch Community how important they are to us. Some of these children may have never heard Jesus and many may invite Him into their hearts. Come be a part of what God does through LaBelle Haven.

We need 2 teachers for the toddler room on Sunday mornings during Sunday School. God is blessing us with more babies on Sundays and we need more workers. You do not have any special training just that you love babies.
