The talented cast and hard-working crew of WCCT’s summer musical have been working very hard to have the show ready for opening night. Director Loween Getter, Music Director Dane Barner, Choreographer Lauren Leman, Assistant Director Mark Andrew and Production Manager Angela Rottering have worked with the cast since auditions in late April. Performances are July 7, 8, 9, 14, 15 & 16 at 7:00 pm and July 10 & 17 at 2:00 pm. All tickets are $15 and can be reserved by stopping by the box office, calling 515-832-4456, or online at wcctonline.org. Doug Getter and his box office crew will be glad to fill your orders. A revolving turn table center stage makes its debut in this show. The brain child of Dale Arends, it has made set changes from exterior to interior scenes so much faster. A stone gate welcomes people to Anatevka. Gracing stage right is Tevye’s house and Motel’s tailor shop is stage left. No Fiddler production would be complete without Tevye’s dairy cart, the bed and lots of fog for “The Dream” scene, and the canopy for the wedding. Many thanks to the set construction crew of Dale Arends, Doug Getter, Quintin Rottering, Sam Ose, Lynn Leksell and Al Yungclas. Bringing it to life with their artistic touches were Carol Zills and Elaine Beermann. Karin Yungclas and JoAnn Robb have been tasked with costuming the 33-member cast. Party Productions supplied several items to supplement what we could pull from our own collection. Wil Groves and Sam Ose have spent many hours programming the lights for the show. Sam will be running the light board and assisting our spot light operators, Jackson Leman and Joseph Johnson. Will and Lynn have also been our dry ice technicians to create the ambiance for Fruma Sarah’s appearance using the fog machine they built last summer. Judy Johnson is making sure things run well backstage with help from Kelly Trask, Mary Sealine, Allison Bai- ley, Mikey Paisley, and Brian Borkowski. Keeping things looking spiffy are Larry and Sharon Helm, house managers. Sarah Kopriva is scheduling ushers. Let her know if you are available to help out. A special thank you to Helene Silverstein for speaking to us about Jewish life in Russia on the eve of the Revolution, customs and traditions that would make our production more authentic. We hope to see you in the audience! Bring your friends and family, too.

WCCT Well-Represented at ICTA Convention & Gala

Attending the June 11 state convention and gala hosted by Sioux City Commu-nity Theatre were Kevin Sweet, Kelsey Mallinger and Allie, Stephanie Hill, Ka-rin and Al Yungclas, Loween and Doug Getter, Angela Rottering, Chaz and Sunshine Yoders (shown in photo below).

They attended three workshops: “AACT/Fest 2017,” “Stage Combat,” and “Big Theatre for the Small Stage.”

At the annual meeting, Loween Getter was re-elected to a three-year term on the ICTA Board of Directors and will continue as its newsletter editor.

The Awards Banquet and Gala capped the evening with the presentation of the Awards of Excellence in 11 categories. Kristi Quinn, AACT representative, was on hand to present the AACT Distin-guished Merit Award to Loween Getter. Kevin and Kelsy looked the dashing young couple in their formal attire!

The Ups and Downs of Elevators The WCCT elevator was recently in-spected by the state. We were told to repair the hydraulic oil leak and install three child guards on the elevator doors. Repairs have been requested and will be completed soon. The cost to make the necessary repairs is $2,246 plus tax.

From the President- As we prepared for the opening of Fiddler on the Roof, a work day was scheduled for Saturday, June 26. Among the many tasks completed that day included: mask the doorways, pit, and back stage area move lumber, a file cabinet and old files put away furniture, costumes, props, electrical cords that were not needed relocate fans add the door to the tailor’s shop and door handles to Tevye’s house clean and stock sweep up a “ton” of sawdust, vacuum, vacuum, vacuum put batteries in candles, clean out and organize closet in stage right wing collate tickets for box office My thanks to these individuals that came and worked hard on the list of tasks: Mark Andrew, Daniel Blank-enship, Mackenzie Burney, Dean Evans, Doug & Loween Getter, Wil & Marjorie Groves, Sharon & Larry Helm, Stephanie Hill, Matt Johnson, Susan Leman, Dennis, Gina, & Jake Nilles, Andrew Wotherspoon, Al & Karin Yungclas. I hope I didn’t miss anyone! The following Monday, Quintin and I met at the theatre to build a fence for the set. I noticed Wil, Lynn Leksell, and Doug were working out logistics on the fog machine, i.e. dry ice and hot water. Doug also spent many hours painting the 12-foot high stage walls. He and Fred Pauk repainted the stage floor. As rehearsals continued more individuals showed up to help behind the scenes. Judy Johnson, our stage manager, put all the props and furniture for set changes in order. She organized her back stage helpers: Kelly Trask, Mary Sealine, Mikey Paisley, Allison Bailey, & Brian Borkowsi. Judy’s daughter, Katie came in to paint tombstones. JoAnn Robb came to many of the rehearsals and helped Karin Yungclas and the cast members with costumes. She spent many hours, as did Karin, sewing at home to make the costumes fit each individual. Wil, Sam & Loween worked many hours programming the lights for the many scene changes. Sam Ose is manning the board for the first time. Dane Barner worked hard with the cast and the music, not only at the theatre, but he spent many hours at home learning the music and making notes of what needed to be worked on. Lauren Leman has shared her dancing talent to choreograph the dances and teach them to the cast members. The last three weeks have been a whirlwind of activity. It’s been a lot of work for all the individuals involved. The cast of 33 has put in more than three hours a night, four days a week since May 3 to bring the show together. That didn’t include the hours that were spent at home memorizing lines and songs. We are excited to present Fiddler on the Roof as this summer’s musical. We hope you will enjoy the hours that have been put into this production. 2015-2016 WCCT President Angela Rottering
