The quality and health of any rock club is built on the energy and the contributions of its members. CCRMC is blessed with a great membership with a generous range of knowledge and skills. Our Fiesta of Gems Show is only eight weeks away, so it’s time to give some thought to how you can help or share your knowledge with others.Of course by “helping” I’m talking about helping with set-up, tear-down or a couple hours of work at one of the jobs it takes to run the show on Saturday and Sunday. And by “sharing” I’d like to encourage you to bring out your finest work and put together a display of what you’ve done. Yeah that means finishing up some loose ends, documenting where you found those last few specimens, and putting a final polish on every-thing - but it’s totally worth it. Then get in touch with Steve Dover at [email protected], reserve a display case at the Show, and share your work with folks com-ing to the show. It’s one of the things that makes our Club vibrant and meaningful. For every Show I attend, I make it a point to go in early Sunday morning (the crowd isn’t as heavy then) and spend some time to carefully look through all the wonderful display cases. The many collections and the superb craftsmanship of lapidary and jewelry items made by our members is truly inspiring. Please join us this year.

The West Mojave Route Network Project Final California Desert Conservation Plan Amendment and Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement for the California Des-ert District, was released today. This is the final ruling on the roads in all of WEMO (9.4 million acres) that we will have to live with for the next 25 years. This is the last chance to make any difference in Recre-ational Rockhounding. This is not a “Comment” period to add or remove anything, that was last time. This is just a comment period to protest a legal issue or a non-com-pliance with some regulation. I really doubt if we Rockhounds, can have any effect on any more changes. This is it”...
