FROM THE PULSE OF BISHOP GARY L. HALL, SR
I pray that this letter finds you well, happy new Year to all. We honor the Lord
today and to him belongs all the glory. Matthew 5:14-16 talks about we are the
light of the world, and in the old testament it talks about being the spark
My desire for both Cathedral and the West Jacksonville ministries is that we become a five-star ministry. In
order to achieve this I believe we must all be the S.P.A.R.K.
In Simon T. Bailey’s book “Be the Spark” he explains about the five platinum service principles for
creating customers for life. I’ve done some additional reading by JW Marriott, Sam Walton, Walt Disney, the
founders of Ritz Carlton, Tesla and even American Express and they all have one thing in common, treat oth-
ers the way you want to be treated or better yet treat others the way they want to be treated.
Having a spark mindset means all of us understand that during any ministry we must create a moment.
See them as guest
Personalize the experience
Anticipate and uncover needs
Respond with immediate and appropriate service
Keep them loyal through acts of kindness
Of course, people who have a SPARK mindset understand that every church has a culture, but the real cul-
ture of any church is love, a place where everyone matters.
Someone said once “leaders are readers”. These five principles are what we are going to be working on dur-
ing the first quarter of the new year. Our objectives will be to adjust, adapt and to adopt these
principles into the life of the church. I’m sure I can count on you.

Wisdom Speaks
Wow! This has been a year! As we come to the conclusion of this year, I began to re-flect on the year. In January I began to declare what I wanted 2020 to be for my life, just as some of you did. As I declared my expectations for the year and heard others declaring their expectations, I realized this year didn’t line up with my declarations.
I never imagined the nation would close nor did I imagine my place of worship would close its doors. I never imagined such a large number of friends and relatives would transition from this life as we know it. Some of the transitions hit me so hard that I began to think I was dreaming, and the tragedies would be over once I woke up! I was reminded by the Holy Ghost of a story located in Exodus of how the Lord spared the Israelites in the town of Goshen. There was destruction in Egypt, but the town where God’s people resided didn’t experience the destruction. There may be chaos all around us, but the peace of God will prevail if we will allow it. The peace that Christ gives is to guide you in the decisions you make; for it is to this peace that God has called you together in the one body. And be thankful (Good News Translation), Colossians 3:15. On the other hand, I have received testimonies of great deliverance, testimonies of financial recovery, debts paid off, and in-creases in the area of finance. I have heard testimonies of healing and protection. For me this year has been a year of evaluation and retrospective of my life. I have learned to allow the Holy Spirit to reign in my life on a consistent basis, listening consistently for that still small voice. I have finally come to grips that I cannot put my trust in man, for man will disappoint you, whereas God will not. He’s consistent! I have experienced some unforeseen discomforts, BUT GOD! God has brought me through and I’m sure you have experienced some unforeseen events in your life this year, BUT GOD! God will be the God you need him to be in the mist of your troubled time. I want you to think about what God is to you and as you think about it write it down. This procedure will bless you as it has blessed me. Below I have listed some of the things I thought of as I faced unforeseen events in my life. This list isn’t complete by any means: God is consistent God is reliable God is a battle axe God is trustworthy God is loyal God is present at all times God is love God is merciful God is personable God is long suffering God is patient I want to leave you with a scripture that I say over and over when I’m faced with situations I can’t control: Philippians 4:8 Christian Standard Bible: Finally brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commend-able- - if there is any moral excellence and if there is anything praiseworthy—dwell on these things. I want our year to be a year of divine interruption by the Holy Spirit so that in the upcoming year we don’t focus on our discomforts, but in all things we praise God, assuring that God receives the glory out of our lives. I truly love all of you and may the blessing of God be upon you and your families.
“HE HATH SHOWN THEE, O MAN, AND WHAT DOTH THE LORD REQUIRE OF THEE BUT,
TO LOVE MERCY, SEEK JUSTICE AND WALK HUMBLY WITH THY GOD.” MICAH 6:8

“THE VOICE OF PENTECOST”
For many, the holiday season brings joy and com-
fort. Among these things, we should also be mind-
ful of charity, kindness, and giving. While many are
surrounded by large families, some will spend the
holidays alone. In our efforts to thoroughly enjoy
ourselves, let us also do the same for others. Small
acts of kindness can make a huge difference in
someone’s life. So, we challenge you to help us
spread love and joy. Phone an old friend, message a
fellow church member, or even send a heartfelt let-
ter!
In Matthew 25:45 (KJV), the Bible says, “Then
shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you,
Inasmuch as ye did not to one of the least of these,
ye did not to me.”
Our actions for others closely represents our actions
for Christ. Christ was giving, loving, and served
those who truly needed it. Those who were many
times overlooked. As his people, we should be elat-
ed to do the same. Let’s make this season a great
one.
We have all faced many troubling times this year.
The loss of family, friends, loved ones. Experienc-
ing changes in finances, jobs, transportation,
school, and so much more. But, even in the midst of
trying times, we can still find hope in Christ. This
year, especially during quarantine, I realized a lot
about myself and about the comforting, fulfilling,
love of God. The global pandemic was unexpected
and no one saw it coming. But, as believers, we
should believe that we will be protected and guided
through the worst of times.
Christ is the hope. He reassures us time after time
that he will never fail. One day, I had to reflect on
everything that happened this year. I soon realized
that even when everything seemed like it turned up-
side down, I still had everything I needed to move
forward. As the new year approaches quickly, we
don’t know what 2021 will bring. But, I encourage
everyone to remain focused and never give up on
God. He’s proven to you that he is worth it and that
his love is more than enough to get by
I also encourage you to enter this new season with a
thankful and open heart. There is so much still in
store for you. I pray that you will heal from the pain
that this year brought. But, also seek gratitude in
how it built you. We will all come out of this
stronger than before.
In light of the current pandemic, we encourage eve-
ryone to continue to take safety precautions and fol-
low social distancing guidelines. The year has come
and is vastly approaching it’s end. Please remember
that I am always thinking of you and praying for
you. Happy Holidays family!

THANKSGIVING GIVE AWAY
November 2020, The Mr. Natural Foundation, the West Jacksonville and Cathedral of Faith Church of God in Christ spread a little extra love in our communities. With dozens of volun-teers, we were able to serve over 500 families with free turkey baskets. Not only was it a suc-cessful and fun-filled event, many households were blessed this season. Thank you again to all volunteers and partners for your acts of service and participation in the giveaway

will spend the holidays alone. Small acts of kindness can make a huge difference in
