Preparing to move
In preparation for our upcoming
move, the MARC East staff has
begun slowly packing up items that
are used less frequently. Some
staff had the opportunity to visit
the construction site to get to a
better visual of the actual layout of
the building. They have also
started shopping for furnishings for
the new location. A leather sofa
and fireplace were purchased
using donated dollars from the
Severson familyearning them a huge MARC Thank you!
Dinner and dance done right
The MARC East annual Spaghetti Dinner and Big Band Dance, held March 7, featured spaghetti
made with delicious meatballs donated by Lilianas Restaurantof Fitchburg. More than 110
people participated, enjoying the meal and dancing the night away (you can see a video of the
dancing on the MARC Facebook page). Music for the dance was provided, once again, by the
Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia fraternity at UW-Platteville.
Community spotlight: corrugated boxes
Many products that are purchased come to us in
corrugated boxes. The packaging ensures that wereceive products in a safe and secure fashion.
MARC is actively working with local businesses on
this important aspect. The shipment of items either
locally or internationally is very important. MARC
employees perform box folding sequences in the

vocational and pre-vocational environments. Basically this means that MARC has a work force
available to perform box folding at our west side location or on- site within the business. So, as
you go about your daily activities, spread the word that MARC has a workforce that is very
capable with meeting business needs in this very important area.

Holiday party
MARC- Stoughton brought in the holidays with a delicious catered dinner from Cranberry Creek
and smooth sounds with edgy dancing from our favorite DJ at Jukebox Bandstand. This eventis always a highlight of the year, and this year was no exception.
During the festivities, it is tradition that we recognize our client workers for their years of
service with a plaque and appreciative cheers and applause. This years recognition included
two clients for five years, two for 10 years, one for 15 years, one for 20 years, one for 25 years,
one for 5 years, and two for 40 years. The longevity of our client workers speaks volumes about
both their determination and the quality of services provided at MARC.
A day in the life
Steady production work has continued to provide clients with opportunities to maintain and
grow their skills, while earning that valued paycheck. Clients enjoy a broad array of recreational
and leisure activities to choose from when they have completed the production work for the
day.
Clients working at Stoughtons local community job sites have continued to succeed and have
worked to improve the business relationships that have been long-established. These
relationships are the foundation of positive employment integration that benefits the client and
the business.
While we have appreciated the sun-filled days of this winter, we are eager for the warmer
weather that spring promises to bring, so we can enjoy being outside.

Project SEARCH is catching fire!
Suzanne Hanson, the Project SEARCH Madison
coordinator and MARC RAC/RES program director,
recently presented at the Wisconsin Transition
Conference with Erin Reihle, Project SEARCH
founder, and Molly Michels, Project SEARCH state
coordinator. The session was well attended and highlighted Gov. Scott Walkers proposed
expansion of Project SEARCH to 20 new sites
across Wisconsin in the next three years.
While in the Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin
Project SEARCH stakeholders got together
for a meeting that was highly informative
and beneficial.
In March, Wisconsin Secretary of Health
Services Kitty Rhoades made an informalvisit to MARCs Project SEARCH at the
Madison VA and UW Hospitals. She spoke
with Project SEARCH graduates who have
been hired by the VA and UW hospitals.

Denise, who passed away in
February, worked at MARC-
Stoughton for 35 years. She so
enjoyed her work that her
mother said, Its too bad that
MARC was not a 7-day
program, as Denise was bored
on the weekend and missed
her friends. Her friends will
now miss her. Denise loved all
the holidays and is seen here
being silly while she worked.
Bob, who passed away in
March, worked for MARC-
East for nearly 37 years.
He will be remembered as
a source of warmth and
light by all of who knew
him.
With great sadness, we report the passing of four members of the MARC family.
Jim, who passed way in
March, worked at MARC-
West for just shy of 33 year.
We will miss his engaging
smile.
Angela participated at
MARC South for nearly adecade. She started her day
with a smile and loved
spending time with her
friends and watching any
wildlife that would pass by
our windows. She will be
missed by staff and friends.
Oh sacred, final morning still,
Your frosted breath has chilled the air.The hints of light above the hill
Evoke this humble, solemn prayer:
Enchant our hearts with unhurried pace,
Impede the rise of mornings glow;
In mercy, allow a moments grace,
And pass the hours of this day slow.
Create a pause for whispers soft,For those who need a last embrace,
For those who send their sighs aloft,
For those who love this weary face.
Oh sacred, final morning calm,
Delay the truth we know must come
Provide a modest healing balm,
For their sakesslow, til the day is
done.

You already know about the important role MARC plays in helping people with developmental
disabilities live productive lives with dignity. This important work is supported largely by the
support of generous donors who contribute to our organization. One of this years goals is torepair and spruce up our buildings and provide a more home-like environment for our clients.
We will continue providing much-needed services to those in our community who are in need
of assistance. Without the continued support of generous donors like you, these needs may go
unmet.
To continue making a difference in the lives of individuals affected by the work of MARC, it is
vital for this year's capital campaign to be a success. Can we count on you to make a donation
to this important cause? By making a tax-deductible donation to our capital campaign, you'll be
directly contributing to people who use our centers on a daily basis.
MARC is depending on your assistance and generosity. Please visit www.marc-inc.org to show
your support with a donation (or mail it to MARC, 901 Post Rd., Madison, WI 53713). Please be
assured that your contribution will be put to good use to provide help to individuals in need of
assistance right here in our community. Thank you for your consideration and continued
support.
Are you interested in providing leadership at MARC? Seeking a treasurer.
If youreinterested in serving on the MARC Board of Directors, the MARC Foundationsboard, or any committees or task forces, please contact MARC [email protected].
Currently, MARC is in need of a treasurer, who will serve on both boards and chair the
Finance Committee. The primary skill required is the ability to explain nonprofit financial
statements to the boards. Thank you!
