The Vinyl TRIP: Side One By Anthony Barbaria

THE RECORD SHOP

It is another day in the world and things couldn't be any different. Nicky has had a rough day and she decided that the best thing she could do right now is head on over to the record shop and check out some sounds.

NICKY Nicky enters the record shop and is greeted by the shop owner.

SHOP OWNER "Hey Nicky. Back to feed your need? I got some new stuff in this morning if you wanna check it out."

NICKY "Yeah, today has been hell. I could use a good getaway for a while. anything cool come in?" The Shop owner shows her the bin of new records.

SHOP OWNER "Yeah, all these came in, you should really check them out. Maybe one will get the world off your shoulders for a day"

Nicky starts thumbing through the records and stops on a few good ones and finally hesitates on a weird looking album.

NICKY "I've never seen this one before?"

SHOP OWNER "Oh that's a new one to me too. The guy said it was a real trip, but I haven't listened to it yet. You should give it a spin."

Nicky decides to give the record a go and put it on the turn table to check it out. When she put on the headphones, the music was really trippy and relaxing at the same time.

NICKY "Wow, I've never heard anything like this before. This can definitely take me out for a while. Do you think its..."

INTO THE UNKNOWN

As she is talking the music gets really intense and starts to change her perception as if she was in a dream. Nicky is now in a forested area with some stone steps and a trail. The record seems to vanish from her hands as she starts to comes out of her dream state. Nicky's face has a sense of bewilderment on it as she finishes the question.

KELLY "Rare?" (->this is a shot I want in the film...) EXTREME CLOSE UP: Nicky's Eyes glance around left to right, then straight ahead.

A scuffling sound is heard. Zoom out slowly to just Nickys head and shoulders.

(->end shot) Nicky is now standing face to face with a weird plaid patterned human like creature. It is named Tip, but she does not know that yet.

TIP "Moon!"

NICKY "What!?" Nicky doesn't know what to think and is halfway between startled and awe. She steps back while Tip dips down a little and looks to the left at another creature standing by some nearby old stone steps.

TIP "Moon!... Come here Moon"

Nicky decided that this is not a good thing and starts to run away. tip puts his arms open to gesture stop and wave it is o.k. simultaneously

TIP "No, stay here! You don't want to get lost. I wont hurt you... whatever you are."

Nicky stops and hesitates for a second. She looks at the creature and then at the unknown before her. She mutters to herself under breathe.

NICKY "Damn, maybe I passed out in the shop."

She turns towards the creature and decided that she'll give it a chance.

NICKY "What the hell is going on!?"

Tip walks to Nicky and is almost just as confused as her.

TIP "I was hoping you knew that."

MEET THE PLAID PEOPLE

The other plaid person, moon, who was on the steps starts walking up to them. Nicky is getting a little more anxious than scared. She is still trying to grasp a hold on her situation.

NICKY "Is this a dream, because I'd really like to wake up now."

MOON "Not another one."

NICKY "Another what?"

MOON "another one of you."

NICKY "One of me, where am I?"

TIP "You're here."

NICKY "I'm where?"

TIP "You're here"

Nicky is a little more frustrated at this point.

NICKY "I swear!"

TIP "Don't scare!"

MOON "With us. Calm down"

NICKY "Calm down? You really want me to calm down right now? I don't even know where I am or even what you are. None of this makes any sense. What happened to the record shop!?"

MOON "just settle down and we can figure this all out."

The two plaid people start to walk over to the stone steps and Nicky follows them. all three of them sit down together and start talking.

NICKY "So.. you're plaid."

TIP "No I'm Tip."

NICKY "I meant your person, you are plaid."

TIP "I'm not plaid!"

Moon shrugs a little because he is used to this.

MOON "He's pattern Blind, and I'm Moon"

NICKY "oh. well I'm Nicky and I'm a bit plain compared to you two."

TIP "So, what are you? I've seen your kind before, but it didn't stick around for the party."

NICKY "What am I? What are you? I mean come on... Plaid People?! You don't find that the least bit weird?"

MOON "Why do you want to know who we are? We know who we are. You're the one who popped out of the dust."

NICKY "I'm just me, I guess you can say Human."

MOON "Really Human, that's just lore. Your weird, and you stick out like a sore thumb"

NICKY [SEMI SARCASTICALLY] "Really, I'm the odd one out?"

TIP "No, you're the odd one in."

WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO WITH IT?

A third plaid person named Rand arrives from the back. All three that are sitting jump up and turn around to see Rand walking up to them. Rand shakes his head as in to 'tsk tsk' them

RAND "Another one then. And I see it is domesticated too."

TIP "It just appeared out of nowhere Rand. Just like the last one"

RAND "Now Tip, even nowhere is somewhere."

Rand puts his hand out to Nicky in a way that a person would put their hand out to a dog as if waiting for the animal to sniff it. Nicky doesn't hesitate to try to take a little metaphorical bite.

NICKY [NOW FLUSTERED] "Now who are you? I was just in the record shop and all of a sudden I am here and I still don't even know where the hell here is! I just had the craziest day at school and I just wanted to relax a little!"

Rand is put back a little and at the same time has his curiosity peaked.

RAND "It talks! By the garden! [giggling] It talks!"

NICKY "Of course I talk why shouldn't I?"

MOON "The last one didn't."

NICKY "Last one? There was someone else here?"

TIP "It just screamed and ran off towards the treecher."

RAND "Yes, you must see the Treecher!"

TIP "Yes the Treecher, She'll know what to do!"

NICKY "Who is the Treecher? I definitely do not want to deal with any more Teachers"

TIP "The Treecher is wise and all knowing"

MOON [HALF WARNINGLY] "The Treecher is about as wise as a stump."

NICKY "As wise as a stump! That sounds like my math teacher. She's got the brains of a chunk of wood"

TIP "That's because she is a stump"

NICKY [A LITTLE CONFUSED] "My math teacher?"

TIP "I'm stumped."

RAND "Believe me, you must see the treecher. She may be the only one who can figure out where you belong."

Nicky put her hand on her head in stressed out bewilderment.

NICKY "Then I guess I have to see the teacher. I know I can't stay here forever"

MOON "Treacher... we'll take you to her."

THROUGH THE FIELD AND TO THE SHAMBLES

Nicky and the three plaid people are walking through a field on their way to see the treecher. There is a rock in the distance and tip is a little nervous.

TIP "I hope they aren't there right now. I can't stand them"

NICKY "Who aren't there? There can't be anything possibly weirder than you here is there?'

RAND "Nicky, just because we are weird to you, doesn't make you any less weird to us. How would you like if if we just showed up in Reckerdstoor and started calling all of your kind weird. What would that make you feel like?"

NICKY "well I was just saying.."

Nicky is interrupted by moon as they are nearing the rocks in the field.

MOON "Shambles."

NICKY "Shambles?" Tip is definitely a little nervous now.

TIP "Yes... shambles."

They arrive next to the rocks and are greeted by two small stone like creatures sitting atop the rocks that appear to be no more than heads wearing ragged clothes.

SHAMBLE 1 "Hey what do you know! The plaids have a pet!"

SHAMBLE 2 "I wonder if it knows where it is going?"

Nicky isn't about to be called a pet. She retorts back to them.

NICKY "I'm no ones pet you freaks!"

RAND "Calm down."

NICKY "Why, look at them. They can't hurt us."

RAND "Oh, you're suddenly an expert? Go ahead taunt them for all I care. It's your fault when all we have to bring to the Treecher is a wrung out husk."

SHAMBLE 2 "The treecher eh? Your actually going to subject the poor creature to that old log?"

SHAMBLE 1 "I heard she ate the last one who came screaming for help."

SHAMBLE 2 "She took it and had it for supper with a pot of boiled hobbs eggs!"

MOON "Shut up you shambles! we don't need any of your lies!"

Nicky is not so quick to put aside the shambles as fools or second guess her new plaid host.

NICKY "The Treecher eats Humans!?"

At the word "Humans", the shambles are suddenly silent. Shamble 1 motions for her to come to him.

SHAMBLE 1 "Human? Come here. I know I can help you, but I need to see if you are real first."

SHAMBLE 2 "I don't know that smell. Tell me fairy tale? Do you like to talk?"

Nicky is hesitant, but after the plaid people, these creatures do not seem so scary. she sits upon the rock in front of them and begins to get engaged in conversation.

SHAMBLE 2 "I bet you need someone to talk to. You can't be having a good day. Tell me your qualms."

At this point the plaid people are almost immobilized in fear. To Nicky, they seem to fade out into the background as she is intrigued by the shambles.

NICKY "You want to talk to me?"

SHAMBLE 1 "Yes, please tell us.. please.. tell us.."

SHAMBLE 2 "We must know.. I mean, you seem stressed and we can help you."

NICKY " I guess it all started in sixth period. The teacher is always such a witch. Ben, this guy I'm into, he was gonna text me and she got to him while he was trying to hide his phone under his hat."

The shambles try to keep her distracted in conversation with them as she starts to go a little monotone. Things feel too good to talk about,like they are flowing out of her mind as she says them.

SHAMBLE 1 "Yes, so the witch is off with Bens' hat?"

SHAMBLE 2 "This text? was it a scroll?"

The fact that their responses did not make sense, since they had no knowledge of her world, did not bother her. She just wanted to keep talking to them and keep feeling feel so relaxed.

NICKY "Yeah, she took his phone and saw it was to me. He hadn't sent it out yet, but she read it to the class. he wanted to meet up with me after school.

SHAMBLE 1 "Oh, school..."

Shamble 2 is a little worried when Nicky mentions school. Nicky does not yet realize that they are draining her emotional and mental energy.

SHAMBLE 1 "Treecher?"

SHAMBLE 2 "shhh... Not human.. go on."

NICKY "So she reads the text to the class and then if that wasn't enough, she sent it out, but not just to me..."

SHAMBLE 1 "Not just to you? Oh She text it to everyone in his phone book."

SHAMBLE 2 "Yes, she could have wrecked your future with Ben, and make you a joke of the school."

SHAMBLE 1 "The witch made a bad move and you need to escape."

SHAMBLE 2 "That's why you are here. to escape"

Nicky is now fully entranced by them, but somehow senses that there is something wrong with the conversation. Why do they suddenly understand too much? She almost feels the drain coming on like a headache and reels back from them.

NICKY "What the hell are you doing! Get out of my head!"

The shambles now see that she has seen through what she is doing and roll off of the rock and disappear.

SHAMBLE1 "We lost this one too."

The plaid people suddenly unfreeze and run to her to help.

NICKY "You just stood there and let it happen! Why didn't you do something about those, those.. those things!"

TIP "We couldn't help, they were in our thoughts"

NICKY "What do you mean, In our thoughts? What are those things?"

RAND "Skull suckers, Mental Vampires. They leave you like them, just a rock in the woods with nothing but the liken to keep you company.

NICKY "Skull Suckers?! I gotta get out of here. And I almost thought I was going to like being lost out here."

MOON "You mean in here."

NICKY "In..."

Nicky has a thought about what Moon just said. In? Rand interrupts before she can gather her thoughts about it.

RAND "Come along. We don't want to succumb to the shamblings again. We must see the Treecher."

WATER LILLIES AND NECTAR

As they start to head towards the treecher, Nicky feels the pangs of hunger within her stomach. She must get something to eat. she has become suddenly very hungry since she has arrived in this strange place. She is walking with Moon and Tip. Rand is up ahead a few yards.

NICKY "Moon... I'm Hungry. I haven't eaten all day and I think I might faint if I don't get some food soon."

MOON "Hunger overcomes you? Why not let yourself in to the light? I know I could use a good bath myself."

NICKY "What.. light? I'm not a plant?"

TIP "Then what are you? A bird?"

NICKY "You know what I am.. You know, it doesn't really matter. I need some food. Do you know where to get some around here? This isn't exactly the food court."

Moon calls over to Rand, because he does not know where to find this illustrious "food".

MOON "Rand. Do you know what food is?"

RAND "Yes, it is sustenance for the being. Why do you ask?"

NICKY "I need some. Do you have any? I don't think I can wait for the Treecher. I need to eat now. I’m so hungry. I think those Shamble things had something to do with it."

RAND "I think I can find you some nectar. Why don't you wait here while we go find some for you to drink."

TIP [SNEAKILY] “Couldn’t I wait with Nicky? She might scare The Flora”

RAND AND MOON “No Tip”

Moon grabs a hold of Tip and pulls him along. As the Plaids are walking away Nicky shouts.

NICKY “Wait… Don’t leave me here alone!”

Moon shouts back to her as they’re a short distance away.

MOON "You’ll be safe. The Flora are nearby. They are a lovely bunch."

As they walk off, she can hear tip query the other two.

TIP "Now she drinks nectar like a bird.. weird things.. humans."

A little unsure what they meant, Nicky wanders down to a stream where three beautiful woman like creatures by it. They are very inviting to Nicky and she is finally happy to meet some people who are much more appealing than the Shambles, who were very much the opposite. LILLY "hello young one. What are you?"

The other two kind of giggle in the background. Nicky is alone with the Flora. She suddenly feels So calm and relaxed, as if they radiate mellow.

NICKY "I'm a human. My name is Nicky What are you?"

WIND "We're freeee..."

LILLY “I’m Lilly and this is Wind…

And Fyre.”

FYRE "You look like you need to rest yourself. Come sit with us and take your cares away."

Nicky sits next to the flora and they begin to play with her hair and talk calmly and freely.

NICKY "You are not like the Shambles are you?"

WIND "Shambles. You had to deal with Shambles?"

LILLY "I'm so sorry. Those things are horrid. Living on dirt and soul. We live in the light. we would never harm anyone. Most here are like us."

FYRE "Those Shambles are two of a kind."

WIND "Thank the heart that they never leave that rock."

NICKY "Never?"

WIND "Never."

NICKY "This place is suddenly so peaceful. I don't even remember why I was having such a bad day anymore."

LILLY "You should not have to remember the bad. You should just be able to learn from it and move on."

FYRE "let the darkness turn to cinder and the light warm you. It is so good to feel its warmth."

WIND "Yes, do you need to talk about it Nicky, young one?"

NICKY "I just want to feel passion. I think I can feel the heat of the moment and the warmth of the joy, but Something was in the way of it. I guess it was not that important. Do you guys feel passion?"

FYRE "Who doesn't feel passion?"

LILLY "passion is the food of life. All the light in eternity does not amount to anything without passion."

NICKY "That's true… I don't think I’d want to fall off the edge of the universe without something to fall onto."

WIND "Do you feel passion Nicky?"

NICKY "I do… I do! I feel passion through Music… my friends. It’s as if… As long as I keep holding on to them, I wouldn’t ever have to worry."

LILLY "That is because your heart is strong and as readily as if keeps your being alive, it will also keep you driven in life."

FYRE "The heat of your soul burns with it. Let yourself give in to the passion and it will be your cushion that you fall onto when times push you further than you expected."

NICKY "You are so right. What happened today before I came here was just a passing event... I think I'll get over it… When I get back home, I will definitely not let something as stupid as that get me riled up again."

LILLY "that is it. Do not let anger get the best of you. It just clouds your clarity and befouls your character."

At this moment, the plaid people are returning with nectar for Nicky. They come to Nicky and hand Her what appears to be a bowl or cup of nectar. (A flower shaped bowl).

TIP "We brought you nectar!"

NICKY "Thank You Tip!"

Nicky takes the nectar and drinks it. It is very satisfying and she is a little surprised that a drink could be so filling.

RAND "Nicky, we must go now. We must get you to the treecher before the end of this rotation."

NICKY "Do we really have to go right now?"

MOON "I am afraid that we must. Rand may be stern, but he is right. If we do not get you out of here soon, you may get stuck."

LILLY "Go along young one. We enjoyed your company, but you have a journey to continue and we will keep you in out hearts, always."

FYRE "Yes, and just remember to keep your passion burning and you will not forget us."

WIND "So long...."

TIP (has a crush on Fyre) "Good bye Fyre. We have a treecher to catch."

NICKY "Good bye ladies. I won't forget you."

RAND "O.k., that is enough. lets head on to the Treecher."

ON THE WAY TO THE TREECHERS GROVE

They are heading on their way to the treechers woods and Nicky is side by side with Moon as Tip and Rand are up in the distance.

NICKY "Moon, back at the Shambling Rock, you said 'In here'. What did you mean by that?"

MOON "What don't I mean by that. We are in here together. What did you think I meant?"

NICKY "I don't know, I was just thinking that this is an odd place, but it's so different and nobody knows me here. I could get to like it, well except those shamble things. If this Treecher finds out how to get me back to the record shop, I'd really want to find a way to come back and visit some times. God knows I can use a getaway."

MOON "So the world keeps turning and you're still here. I'd enjoy it while it last, but I thought you must know the way in, so you shouldn't worry about that until you find the track out of here.

NICKY "And the treecher can help me out?"

MOON "I hope so, because the last human who came out here headed towards her and I heard it was gone before everyone flipped. You should have heard the noise it made. Just awful."

Nicky is kind of starting to get a feel of something going on here. She can't quite be sure about it, but it almost makes sense. She must see what happens at the Treecher.

A COUPLE OF TRUFFETS

On the outskirts of the bridge leading to the Treachers Grove are a few funny looking, mushroom like little people. One speaks Forwards while the other speaks backwards.

BACKWARDS "Evorg Srehceert eht nopu semoc taht siht si ohw."

FORWARD "Who is this that comes upon the Treechers Grove?"

NICKY "What are those?"

MOON "Ignore them, they are just curious Truffets."

NICKY "They're cute"

RAND "Are you kidding? They are atrocious."

TIP "I like them."

NICKY "I agree. Lets talk to them. Hello Truffets. I’m Nicky."

BACKWARDS "Olleh. Erofeb aidrocer ni uoy nees reven evi."

FORWARD "Hello. I've never seen you in Recordia before."

NICKY "Oh My God! Recordia! Tip, is this Recordia?"

RAND "well it sure isn't Wreck hord Store, or whatever that place you are from is called."

TIP "Why? Where did you think you were Nicky?"

NICKY "Well, it is not like anyone ever told me."

RAND "It's not like you ever asked."

NICKY "Yes I did."

TIP "she did. I remember. Back at Needle drop."

Nicky is a little reeled back at he word needle drop.

NICKY "Needle drop? What is going on here. I can't quite fit it all together, but there is something odd about this place... Recordia..?"

BACKWARDS "Pord eldeen ta deretne uoy?"

FORWARD You entered at Needle drop?"

NICKY "Yes, apparently. It was a long way from where we are now."

BACKWARDS "yalp dednetxe"

FORWARD "You mean, a long time."

NICKY "That was weird. it didn't seem like you two synced up right there."

BACKWARDS "Kcart no yats tsuj."

FORWARD "Just stay on Track."

RAND "We really have to go now Nicky."

NICKY "O.k., but there is something odd about this world, although I can't quite put a finger on it."

BACKWARDS "edis rehto eht no uoy ees ot epoh I dna gnol os.

FORWARD 'So long and I hope to see you on the other side.'

NICKY "Eyb doog Truffets!"

CLASS BEGINS

They three walk upon a grove of trees in a gully where an odd, but almost majestic being is sitting, no more like sprouting, from a tree stump. Nicky walks up to it first and then the three plaid people follow. There is another stump near by with lots of holes in it.

TREECHER "Well, if it isn't a tardy! Four Tardys! Do any of you have a note?!"

NICKY "Note, huh?"

TIP "Good morning Treecher, Treecher, Treecher, Treecher, Treecher..."

Rand hits tip on the side of the head lightly.

RAND "Tip, you were skipping"

MOON "Tip has been getting a little fuzzy lately. Maybe he scratches his head too much."

The Treecher interrupts them.

TREECHER "Be quiet! Class is about to begin. We must cover our arithmetical sequences! Does any one know their times tables? You there young thing. What is the weight of an elephant times a frying pan?"

NICKY "What, me?"

TREECHER "Yes you?"

NICKY "That doesn't make any sense? A frying pan?"

Rand whispers to moon during this question.

RAND "And I thought the Elephant was the trick part of the question."

Treecher hears him.

TREECHER "Quiet! Tip, can you answer the question?"

TIP "Yes, its a bus!"

TREECHER "A bus? What is a bus?"

TIP "I... don't... really... know"

TREECHER "Hmmm.... Correct! But, it is a magic bus!"

TIP "ooohhhhh... magic.."

NICKY "A magic bus? what sense.."

The treecher stops her for shouting out.

TREECHER "Quiet! Raise your hand and wait your turn, you... you..?"

Rand Raises his hand.

RAND "Human."

TREECHER "What!"

RAND "Human!"

TREECHER "Fairy tales! Nonsense and Fairy tales! Let us get back to the lesson! One Plus One is eleven, Twenty three divided by six pears is a bunch! Tip, tell me the half truth of the whole question!"

TIP "I don't know?"

TREECHER "exactly!"

TREECHER "You.. Fairytale! What is one sixteenth of a radish?"

Nicky is agitated by the Treecher and just stays quiet and ignores her. Treecher remind her a bit of her own crappy math teacher.

TREECHER "Answer the question!"

MOON She doesn't understand the question. Don't you see that she doesn't understand anything here. We need to get her back to where she came from. Like you did with the other one."

TREECHER "Other one? What other.. Ohhhh. the other one."

MOON "Yes, the other Human. Did you help it?"

NICKY "Did you?"

RAND "Yes Treecher, we need to send this thing back to its own realm. We don't need it here."

Rands comment slightly pissesNicky off.

NICKY "Don't need it?"

RAND "Well, we don't."

TREECHER "You say you don't need this human? Is that true? Do Tip and Moon feel the same way?"

Tip and moon both like Nicky and have to speak on her behalf.

MOON "Rand is too thick! We enjoy this human, but she does not belong here. We have to send her to where she came from."

TREECHER "And where is that?

TIP "Wreckerstore!"

TREECHER Yes, I've heard of that. In Fables"

TIP "Well, what does it say about it in the fables?"

RAND "Yes, what does it say, because there must be some truth to it. We have a human, why not a fabled place to go along with it?"

NICKY "It is real, I promise you that, but it is not called Reckerdstoor, I was in a Record Store, a shop That sells records, record store. If you are all from Recordia, then I am from Earth, where the record store is!"

TREECHER "Oh the world on a platter! Such nonsense deserves nonsense in return.!"

TIP "It's not nonsense, she is from there and wants to go back there."

MOON "What did happen to the other human?"

TREECHER "Oh, I sent it to look into my stump. It is gone now and that is all that matters. what a horrid screech that thing made."

There is an odd looking stump nearby and Nicky walks over to it. Moon and Tip walk with her.

NICKY "This stump?"

TREECHER "Yes, that one! If you look into it, you will disappear like the other one!"

RAND "Listen to her Nicky! She knows what she is talking of."

MOON "It sounds like the other human went out the way you came in, so it must work."

TIP "I'll try it first and see what happens."

RAND "No Tip. Let her do it. That is the only way. I do not want to risk losing you or even worse, losing you and being stuck with her."

Rand tries to block Tip from the log, but Moon gets in the way and stops him.

MOON "Rand. It's his decision, let him do it."

TREECHER "Don't do it! It won’t work on you.”

Tip touches the stump and all of a sudden, the holes in it light up. Nicky tries to stop him, but it is too late and he looks into the light, but nothing happens. he looks back at Moon with his eyes a bit shaken up from the bright light.

TIP "Moon... Moon!"

Moon grabs tip by the shoulders and looks into his eyes.

MOON "What is it Tip?"

TIP "moon...?"

MOON "Yeah Tip?"

Tip smiles.

TIP "I see spots!..."

Moon smiles and opens his mouth in awe! Nicky looks at him with a smile..

NICKY "Plaid..."

Rand is relieved that Tip was still there and is now anxious For Nicky to leave. RAND “Now Nicky… It is Your turn.” Nicky is not sure that she want to go back now.

NICKY “But… what If it doesn’t work? I mean, she said that the Other human disappeared, but What if it really did just that… Disappear!”

RAND “You won’t. I promise!”

NICKY “You… You promise? Huh.. You don’t even like me! For all I know, you want me To die!”

With her second thoughts on leaving, she does what she was Going to do when she first arrived. Nicky turns and runs away into the woods. Moon starts to run after her.

MOON “No! Nicky! Come Back!”

Tip starts to follow Moon towards Nicky.”

TIP “Wait for me” MOON “No Tip! Stay with Rand and the treecher!”

Rand sees Nicky stop and fall to her knees crying. He carefully approaches her to try to calm her down.

MOON “Nicky.. why did you run?”

NICKY “Why not.. I don’t want to leave and I DON’T want to disappear.”

MOON “You are not going to disappear. I can tell you that right now.”

NICKY “How do you know that? How can you honestly Know that!”

MOON “I just do…”

NICKY “She’s crazy Moon.. what if she doesn’t even care about me? So callous, like Rand… Damnit! Rand! What is Wrong with that guy?”

MOON “Rand.. well, he is just Rand. He doesn’t know how to let people in. He cares. I know he cares for you, but he is afraid to show it.”

Tip had followed Moon into the wood anyways and has been Hiding behind a tree. He starts walking up from behind them And Nicky hears him before she can see him.

TIP “Rands a turnip in a Flower patch”

She looks up to Tip and smiles.

TIP “He just doesn’t know it”

MOON “Tips right, but so is Rand… You don’t belong here. As much As we both want you to stay, I don’t think you should, or Even can. You need to go back to Earth.”

NICKY “But I don’t want to go back. I like it here so much more. If I go back, I don’t know What I would do.”

MOON “You must go back. Surely you have people who will miss you there. You can’t leave them behind. They would never understand where you went.”

NICKY “They never understand me anyways.”

MOON “You should not have to be scared of returning. You have a passion Nicky, You should show that to your World and they will eventually Learn to understand you.”

NICKY “What are you saying?”

MOON “If you stay here, you may think you will be happy, but you will lose the chance to make an impression in your own world. You have a future ahead of you and you must make it great. You will not get the kind of chances here like you will with your own kind.” NICKY “I… I think I understand. So.. you are sure the Treecher Isn’t crazy and she won’t Send me to Limbo?”

MOON “I’m positive.”

NICKY “O.k. I think I’m ready now.”

Nicky, Moon and Tip return to the Treechers grove where the Treecher and Rand are waiting. The treecher is a little agitated that she ran off.

TREECHER “So, the Human is back! Tried to skip class! Not a tardy, but a Truant! Three Truants!”

RAND “What happened Nicky? Don’t you want to go home? I know I want you to go home.”

Nicky walks up to Rand and gives him a hug. At first he looks Like he doesn’t want to hug her, but then he awkwardly accepts.

Nicky “I think I might miss you the most”

RAND “Really? Oh well I..”

The hug ends and she steps back and smiles at Rand. He is almost Blushing, but quickly gets back to being serious again.

RAND “I think we should get you on your way then.”

Tip and Moon join Nicky and Rand as they walk towards the Treechers stump. Nicky turns towards each of them and says her Farewells.

NICKY (to Tip) “Tip, I’m going to see your smiling face every time I close my eyes. And to tell you the truth, according to some people on Earth, I am a bird.”

Tip smiles and hugs her.

TIP “Then I hope they get to see you fly.”

She turns to Moon and gives him a hug also. She is mildly crying From the sadness of having to leave them.

NICKY “Moon… Moon. I need you to be strong like you are telling Me. I do not know how Tip and Rand Would ever be without you. I Want you to promise me that you three Will never split up.

MOON “I promise. For you, nothing will tear us apart.”

The Treecher is getting anxious for Nicky to leave.

Treecher “This isn’t recess! We haven’t long before the end of the track! The Human must go now!”

RAND

“Very well Treacher. Nicky, I’m afraid it is time” NICKY “I’m ready.”

Moon looks Nicky into her eyes to reassure her that everything Will be alright. He puts his hand on her shoulder.

MOON “Spread your wings and fly…”

Tip adds to the sentence.

TIP “…Soar like an Eagle..”

Nicky looks into the stump and starts to hear the same kind of weird music that she heard when she first came into the world that she now knows as Recordia. she feels and overcoming of calm and is suddenly back in the record shop standing at the turntable with headphones on. The needle is on the end of the last track of side one.

BACK TO THE SHOP

Nicky is just standing there in awe of what just happened, the record shop owner picks up the needle and turns the player off. He is also in slight bewilderment.

SHOP OWNER "Yeah, so maybe you shouldn't play this one anymore."

Nicky is still dazed, but she grabs the cover as if she could not part with the record now.

NICKY "No.. I'll take it."

Nicky flips he cover of the record over to reveal track names that correlate with her adventure. She sets the cover down and picks up the record and flips it to the other side. She drops the needle down onto Track one and is again enveloped in the wondrous music that brought her into the magical world of Recordia.
