Unto the populace of Aneala
Does Baron Kilic and Baroness Branwen send greetings.
We have returned safely from the Southern region of Lochac, from the Lands now known as Krae Glas.
We had a great time, were made welcome and the Glasians were very friendly. There was certainly a buzz. We met up with our cousins from the other Baronies and had fun, although we did not meet up with the B&B of Ynys Fawr, just so many people and things to do. They had tons of kids who were integral to the festivities, they paraded in with the Coronets, sung a very moving SCA song and in general they had a ball.
There were singers and dancers.
Our gifts of 6 Baronial Scrolls (thank you Aneala Scribes) were well received.
We have a busy couple of months upcoming.
College Challenge being the Colleges prime event.
Then we have an Eastern feast in the beginning of Oct (9th), A&S Classes (15th) fol-lowed by Ball d’Aneala and then not least Championship weekend.
Championship
The State in which we live has deemed it necessary to move the Public holiday normally in early Oct to now occur at the end of Oct and on a Friday, the Steward Lady Celestria has posted to the lists the timetable.
For our part we ask those who would like to present themselves for entry into the Cham-pionships of Aneala so consider the following.
Who are the Champions?
They are people of great skill and commitment to the Barony and the SCA. They love playing this game. They are honourable and are full courteousness.
Armoured Champion is Lord Dino d’Malta
Page 5
Rapier Champion is Lady Alana Galliwood
Archery Champion is Lady Celestria Ashwood
A&S Champion is Mistress Catherine d’Arc
Rose Bardic Champion is Lady Aoife inghean Ui Conchobhair
Ask any of our Champions about being a Champion.
We have 3 Martial champions, Armoured, Rapier and Archery selected by different scenario’s to test their skill and endurance as well as their chivalric values.
A&S Champion which is selected buy entering A&S Competitions through out the year, using an average of their 3 highest scores.
Bardic Champion is selected by performance in the entertainment arts.
Why be a Champion?
Firstly it is a prestigious position; you have the opportunity to serve the Barony and consequently the Baron and Baroness. The Champion position’s offer you training in Court procedures and gives you an insiders understanding of how a Barony is run.
You get to stand Court and be in the know.
All the Champion responsibilities are,
To protect the B&B,
To represent the Barony in Tourneys and wars, Competitions
To stand Court,
Sometimes you maybe required to enforce the will of the B&B and/or the Crown
Serve the Crown when they come to the Barony.

Help put up and take down the Baronial pavilion et al.
Use and maintain the regalia of the Champion.
The Champion also runs the next Championship Tourney to help pick a suc cessor.
The Armoured Champion also assists the B&B to select 3 members of any martial discipline for the Baronial Guard by Toys for Tots.
We know that the A&S Champion would be hard pressed to defend us with needle or a pie, but you never know, their main responsibility is to run a minimum of one class or competition but hopefully more in the year, promoting A&S in Aneala.
This year the Baronial Bard Competition will be run at Bal d’Aneala.
Those proposing to enter into the Championship should indicate their intent via email to the B&B. It is not necessary to be at every event but in the email please state which Champion-ship (S) you are entering, your consort or person of inspiration, Thankyou.
The Baronesses Ladies in Waiting will be stepping down after completing their term. The Baroness also asks for 4 Ladies or Lords who would like to be part of the Baronial Court to also send a letter of intent. Ask for the list of responsibilities of being a LIW.
Thank you all.
As always, please send recommendations and any questions you may have.
Yours in service
Baron Kilic and Baroness Branwen

The College of Saint Basil the Great (BOOM BOOM) has been going awe-somely. Believe it or not, we’ve been productive at training! We’ve been very active in our rapier training, exploring rapier on chairs and receiving plenty of support from experienced fighters such as Lord Pantera and Lord Rhys. There’s also been armoured combat training oc-curring, with the fighters occasionally getting into armour. On the rare occasions that there’s no combat taking place at training, we’ve even man-aged some dancing! Perhaps most impressive is that some Collegians have been doing actual sewing at our Arts & Sciences nights! The College of Saint Lazarus are also attending these evenings and are making great use of this opportunity to work on their group projects. Tuesday trainings have been very quiet, but Thursdays have been consis-tently well-attended. If you’re interested in coming along, either to help out or simply to join us for training, A&S and good company, Thursday train-ing starts at 4pm on the Oak Lawn at UWA and are usually in the Guild Council Meeting Room for A&S shortly after 7pm.
