What are Vertebrates and Invertebrates ?

The classification of Vertebrates is mammals, Reptiles, Fish , Birds, Amphibians all other animals sea creatures, insects are invertebrates. Vertebrates have have back bones. Invertebrates don’t have a back bone.

Insects(Invertebrates)

Insects have 6 legs.

2 pairs of wings.

Insects have a three part body.

One pair of antennae.

Insects hatch from tiny eggs.

They need protection, food and water to grow successfully.

Insects live for a year or 2 depending on what they eat.

Spiders(Invertebrates)

Spiders have eight legs.

A two part body.

They don’t have any wings.

Most spiders live for about a year some live for only a few months.

Back bone Fish

Slimy, bony scales for protection.

Gills so they can breath.

Fins for steering and moving.

Thousands of eggs.

No worries for their young ones.

Not all of the fishes have back bones only most of them.

It supports the skeleton for protection for the spinal chord.

Amphibians

Amphibians are like Toads and frogs.

They have hundred of eggs.

They have 4 legs when they become an adult.

They don’t worry about there young ones.

When they are young they have fish tails.

Amphibians are the members of the class Amphibia.

They spend part of their life’s underwater water and the remainder on land.

Reptiles

The reptiles are members of a group air-breathing.

Dry leathery scales.

Small brains.

Several dozen eggs.

Few worries about their young ones.

Birds

They have feathers.

Feathers keep the birds warm.

The birds can fly with wing feathers.

No other animal has beautiful colors like birds.

Two wings and two legs.

A dozen or so eggs.

No teeth they have beaks instead.

They worry about their eggs and young.

Mammals

Dry hair.

Four limbs.

Milk for youngsters.

They don’t lay eggs.

There are about 5,000 species of living mammals.

3 middle ears bones.
