:ow we are freed of the life of the body- but we are irrevocably tied to the life we cutaway )t sustains us and empowers us

5e thirst for life and we feed upon it

)t is our greatest wea!ness and our greatest pri7e

    II. Beginnings

6ternal- we wander the aeons- moving to the rhythm of our own inner tides

reed from the most fundamental of cycles- we are nevertheless beings bound bycycles /ur heightened awareness of ourselves and the world around us forces us to

ac!nowledge natural rhythms that others simply ignore

&s the day waxes and wanes- we can feel it- and we !now that the true realm ofmagic! is the night- for that is when we wax in power &s the moon grows gravid andslim- we feel it- and we !now- too- that there are more complex rhythms of power tiedto her phases &s the wheel of the year turns round- we feel the wild times- theapogees and nadirs of power

The dar! time of the year is our time- as are the threshold times when we celebrate*amhain and Beltane These days are our )m Kheperu- the ay of Transformation-and our )m *e!hemu- the ay of ouble .ower &s beings poised on the threshold ofmany things- the energies of these holidays a'ect us profoundly &t these times- weenoy our greatest power- but in balance- we also pay a stronger price 5aves of

energy rise and fall within us- and when in their grip- our hunger burns

orever- we are active elements moving through passive worlds

/ur rules are our own 5e accept no others 5e de#ne who we are and what we shallbecome There is nothing in our lives- which we cannot control if we but choose to

/ur memories are carried li!e gems within our souls /ver the lifetimes- they buildand crystalli7e until we can ta!e them out and ga7e upon them as we choose

,ife sustains us- but death de#nes us 5e are the manyAborn /ur conception was indeath- and each death now brings us a new beginning- forever without end

    III. Catalysts of Change

6verything we touch- we change 5e ta!e in energy constantly- and although this ishow we feed- this energy is never destroyed Through us- it is transformed )tchanges states )t resonates to a higher level

;et every birth is accompanied by struggle and pain 6very rebirth is ust as painful )tmay seem that we bring destruction- chaos- and turmoil to all those around us &nd

in a sense we do But the changes are always for the better- even though the initialchange may seem terrible

Change is terrible )t tears away what we9ve grown comfortable with )t destroys whatwe #nd familiar- stable- and simple- leaving uncertainty in its wa!e But to faceuncertainty and to thrive is to become stronger 6verything must change or die 5eare active participants in this universal mystery

6very person that we come into contact with- no matter how casually- is altered5herever we go- change will follow /ur dynamic spirits stretch out all around us- andthe wa!e we leave in our passing is li!e ripples on the ocean /nly the ripples wecause can become tidal waves

&s beings on a threshhold state- we are living embodiments of the dynamiccomplimentarity that !eeps the universe in constant motion This is our burden ;etthis also is our purpose )n the gray area between two polar opposites lies revelation5e feed upon all around us ;et we can also harness that energy to heal 5e tearaway and bring destruction- yet we also nurture new growth This is our nature- themystery of who we are

There is no rebirth without destruction ,ight only blinds without shadow to throw itinto relief 4nderstanding comes from balancing all these things within the *elf 5eare that Balance 5e a'ect it- and it a'ects us 5e are facilitators of the universal3ow 5e must accept this- and never fear to move with that 3ow

    IV. Awakenings

5e are neither wholly born nor wholly made what we are The choice for us tobecome was made long ago rom that time onward- we have been reborn again andagain- carrying within us in every lifetime the seed of what we are

*ometimes we forget ourselves- and wander our lives li!e sleepwal!ers- only halfAaware of our true natures ;et sleeping or awa!ened- we are born with the potentialfor transformation

&wa!ening is a process of expanded awareness &nyone with gifts and talents of asubtle nature undergoes an awa!ening in their life This is when they come into theirown- #nally accepting what has been latent within them since birth or us- theprocess can be traumatic- as the existence we awa!en to opens us up to a host ofstrange thoughts- sensations- and experiences which lie outside the limits acceptedeven by other &wa!ened

  • 5/22/2018 The Vampire Codex

    4/38

&wa!ening is the alchemical forge in which we are transformed from dross to spiritualgold )t is the recalling of a part of our *elves that has become clouded over time )t isbecoming more than the little self of this lifetime- grasping the totality of who wewere and who we are to be AA our 6ssential *elf

*ome of us have greater potential than others *ome are born with an instinctive

understanding of their potential and they may gradually come to reali7e thatpotential on their own They recall without prompting and their power is great

The bul! of our number are born ignorant to what they are &s they grow and mature-there are subtle hints of the latent power- but fear and selfAdoubt generally !eepthese from being ac!nowledged and accepted *uch as these must be awa!ened totheir true selves by another of our number already familiar to our ways

There are two rituals of initiation The ,esser )nitiation is an exchange of feedingwhich occurs between the teacher and the initiate The initiate is drained deeply-often for the #rst time This heightens his awareness of his energy body and will oftencataly7e him into reali7ing his potential in the next few days The sensations that thisprocess inspires are usually too intense to ignore or explain away )f fed from deeply

enough- his instincts will overcome him and he will feed from others in order toreplenish his depleted system

The 8reater )nitiation involves a ritual death and rebirth which occurs on both thephysical and spiritual levels for the initiate )t is visionary and shamanic in nature andforces the initiate to face himself and all that he has been within the boundaries ofhis own soul ,i!e all deaths and rebirths- this ritual strips away old identities andassumptions The little self of this lifetime is subsumed into the greater *elf- and theinitiate is irrevocably changed This rite is reserved for only the strongest minds- forany who are wea! or #lled with fear may not survive the initiation Their minds canbe blown away li!e dry autumn leaves in the face of the totality of who they are

    V. Potential

5e often associate with the &wa!ened or with those who hover upon the threshold of&wa!ening 5e prefer the company of those who can interact at least to some degreewith the level of reality that is our constant daily experience

By our very natures we &wa!en those around us 6ven those not of our !ind can bea'ected by the transformative e'ects of our presence 5e draw out latent powersand provide a burden of proof for individuals who have otherwise reected their own

natures due to selfAdoubt 5e can use this intentionally if we choose- though it willalways occur to some degree- whether intentional or not

*ometimes we mista!e a .otential of our own !ind merely for one of the &wa!ened )fsuch an unrecogni7ed .otential is fed from- the e'ect- though unintentional- ise2uivalent to the ,esser )nitiation The .otential feels himself undergo a change andis driven to feed from others *uch accidents cannot be abandoned Confused as totheir true nature- ignorant of their power- they wield that power nonetheless and cancause much damage to themselves and others if left to struggle on their own

  • 5/22/2018 The Vampire Codex

    5/38

*till others have .otential- but it is too wea! to ever fully be reali7ed in this lifetime/thers are too unstable to survive the initiation They are best left to sleep so theywill come to maturity in their own time )f forced to awa!en- they are merely shadowsof us AA wea! in power- unstable in mind- whose powers are li!ely to fade unlessconstantly put to use or manipulated by their mentor

*ometimes a feeding vessel may manifest the symptoms of vampirism- but this ismerely a sympathetic state brought about through prolonged or obsessive contactwith one of our own *uch a one9s natural reserves are depleted to a point where theycannot recover their vitality on their own 8iven time- however- and separatedphysically and D or emotionally from the dominating personality- such a person willgradually recover and return to a normal- nonAvampiric state )n some cases- theaEicted person does not wish to give up the state of sympathetic vampirism )f theperson understands even a little of what has happened to him and wants thecondition to continue- he can maintain this 2uasiAvampiric state inde#nitely and mayeven eventually come to be mista!en for one of our number as he will accept that heis nothing else

    VI. Other Awakened

There are many beyond ourselves who have the potential for power They alsoundergo a process li!e our Becoming which consists primarily of a expandedawareness and an awa!ening to their greater *elf This commonly occurs with theonset of puberty- although it may happen later or earlier- depending on nature andcircumstance These are commonly referred to as the &wa!ened Their ways and theirpowers are diverse

,i!e us- many of the &wa!ened follow a particular archetype They use this archetypeas a symbol to de#ne themselves and their powers They have a fundamentalconnection to the energy of this archetype- and although human in body- they aresomething more in spirit &ngels- witches- the ey- /ther!in- *hifters- these are but afew of the archetypes that may be followed ,i!e ourselves- it may be that suchindividuals are responsible for inspiring much of the fol!lore that gave rise to thearchetype in the #rst place and now- in a less spiritually open time- they have onlythe buried grains of truth lingering in the fol!lore to fall bac! upon to de#nethemselves ,i!e us- they are human and /ther They are spiritual travelers who ta!eup bodies as garments 5e should always treat them with respect- for ultimately- weserve common goals

;ou will be attracted to the &wa!ened in much the same manner that you are drawn

to .otentials of our !ind Much is unspo!en and unconscious Trust that your greater*elf is guiding you- for it !nows and understands what may not always be accessibleto your conscious mind

,i!e ourselves- the &wa!ened can perceive and manipulate the many layers of realityThey call themselves by many names and they follow many diverse paths Most ofthe &wa!ened draw their power from the positive- generative forces of reality Thus-they may fear us when they #rst encounter us This fear arises from ignorance

Though we are dar!ness and they are light- we all wor! toward the same goal 5e

    6/38

each in our way bring awareness to the world- cataly7ing those with potential toward&wa!ening

5hen we come upon one who is verging upon &wa!ening- it is our duty to guide andinstruct them o not mista!e every &wa!ened being for a .otential of our !ind :orshould you attempt to push those not of our !ind into accepting our ways and our

arts This way is not for everyone- and no one should ever be forced into following itBe aware that some may resonate with more than one archetype- and these are themost diFcult of all to identify and to educate They may have much in common withus- but there will be limits to what we can explain and help them understand )n allcases- serve your function as a catalyst- helping them toward their path but notsee!ing to de#ne that path for them 4ltimately- each person must wal! their pathalone

    VII. Fledglings

;ou are responsible for teaching and guiding those of our !ind whom you haveawa!ened to their true natures ;ou must guide them through their transformation-helping to ease the transition from one level of awareness to the next

Those who you guide in this way will be as your children and will share a deep bondwith you li!e no other

;ou will !now their very heart and soul The mysteries of their 6ssential *elf will beunveiled to you :o distance will separate your awareness of them

The lin! goes both ways- and they can communicate with you and !now your feelings

when they choose ;ou may use the lin! to feed from them at a distance- to borrowtheir strength as your own

Their thoughts will be yours to !nowG their actions will fall under your control if you sochoose AA but do not see! to abuse this power you wield over them for as dearly asthey may love you and revere you while under your control- they will ust asthoroughly hate and revile you once that control has slipped away

    VIII. The Beaon

/ur !ind has ways of recogni7ing its own /ften this recognition occurs on anunspo!en level and is very subtle- so you must learn to trust your impulses and allowyour greater *elf to guide you

6specially in the unawa!ened- this recognition manifests itself as a Beacon- whichcalls us to them so that they may reali7e their .otential The Beacon calls to us on avery basic level- and often spea!s purely to our unconscious minds Thus we #nd

  • 5/22/2018 The Vampire Codex

    7/38

ourselves inexplicably attracted to a .otential- stric!en with a sudden fascination forhim and a need to draw him closer to us )f we listen to our perceptions and trust ourinstinctual reactions- we can re#ne this awareness of others until we can consciouslypic! out the Beacon in those around us *ometimes- even after such a re#nement hasbeen achieved- the Beacon still slips past our conscious actions and we #nd ourselvessimply responding to its unspo!en pull The pull of the Beacon drives us to feed from

the .otential- thus awa!ening him to the most basic aspect of his hidden nature

5e must learn to recogni7e the Beacon in others- to udge its varying degrees ofstrength so that we may go about the awa!ening in a deliberate manner 5e mustlearn to recogni7e when it is appropriate to awa!en a .otential and when thatawa!ening will bring only grief to all involved

5e must let our udgment rule us in this matter and we must sometimes resist themerely instinctual pull of the Beacon for awa!enings that are not appropriate :ot allof those with .otential are #t for the awa!ening- and if we act rashly- we mayunwittingly loose the beast of our destruction through a careless move

    I!. Charateristis

The Beacon is present to a limited degree in those who have already become )t isstrong enough for us to recogni7e one of our number when we come into contact withhim- even if this recognition is the barest hint of perception

5e may also be !nown by our distinct auras@ deep purple sometimes shot throughwith red- surrounded by a nimbus of blac! or grey mist The outer layer oftenstretches into tendrils that extend far beyond our physical forms- reaching out and

feeding from those around us To those who can perceive that level of reality- weoften appear to be a nexus of such tendrils

The tendrils are varying shades of grey- with a smooth- ropeAli!e appearance Theyare not perceptibly present in everyoneG they can be #laments so #ne even the mostexperienced seer will have diFculty perceiving them

5e are often noted for our pallor- but more often it is the intensity of our eyes whichgives us away 5e tend to be thin with a powerful and often intimidating presencewhich wraps about us li!e a shroud

/ur hands are often very cold This is a cold which saps heat away- and lingers whereit has been touched )t is a symptom of our constant- lowAlevel energy draw )f weconsciously channel energy through our hands- they grow very warm )t is not thetemperature which is important@ it is the responsiveness of our physical bodies tosubtle e'ects that is distinctive

5e are sensitive to strong odors and tastes- as our senses are often acute Many ofus can hear in a more than normal human range *ome of this is physical hearing-some may be limited clairaudience- as our subtle senses extend far beyond ourphysical selves 5e are almost always much stronger and 2uic!er than we loo!- forthe body is merely a vessel for a much more powerful 5ill

  • 5/22/2018 The Vampire Codex

    8/38

5e are sensitive to light and to the excessive heat of the sun This is symptomatic ofour acute sensitivity to energy The radiation of the sun is an overwhelming form ofenergy which our systems have trouble assimilating Many of us burn very easily inthe sun &lmost all of us are made sic! by it 5hen re2uired to be out in full daylight-we develop headaches- nausea- di77iness The light saps us of our strength- leavingus exhausted and drained The night is our natural dominion- for in the mythic

imagination- it is the realm of secrets- of magic!- and all that the dayAlit world reects

5e carry ourselves with a proud determination and can seem arrogant- detached-and cold 5e are often of a predatory nature- and with diFculty avoid using thosearound us

To most we seem unapproachable There is an air about us which seems somehow toset us apart 6ven those ignorant to our true natures react to this- treating us withrespect- attraction or fear

The unawa!ened stare then loo! away from us and are unable to meet our ga7eThey are disturbed by our presence but rarely will they understand what disturbedthem or why )nstinctually- they fear us

The &wa!ened will !now us for what we are- though they may hesitate to put a nameto it *till- on an unspo!en level they will understand and attempt to de#ne usthrough the #lters of their individual beliefs and symbol systems

Children will !now us- though rarely do they fear )n their innocence- they have notyet learned to doubt- and thus are open to a clear perception of the world aroundthem

    !. "#$tle Body Changes

To the &wa!ened who can perceive energy or the subtle body- we may appear 3awedor incomplete This di'erence in our energy bodies can be mista!en as illness ordisease )n truth- most of our !ind partially or completely lac! an energy center Thisis most often the one located in the belly- ust below the navel )t is because we lac!this center that we need to feed- for our subtle bodies cannot sustain the energynecessary to maintain our physical forms There is a schism between our body andour spirit- and while this schism places us in our threshold state- it createswea!nesses along with many bene#ts

/ur physical connection to life is thin and wea! )n those of our number who have notbecome- this may manifest itself in actual physical debility or illness *evereallergies- immune system malfunctions- and other birth defects are not uncommon )fthey gain awareness of their powers and at the very least learn how to feed- theymay learn to compensate for these wea!nesses However- once you have learned tocompensate- if you are unable to feed enough to sustain yourself- this wea!ness willreturn with greater severity than before

/ften wellAmeaning &wa!ened will o'er to heal you so that you need not su'er thedrawbac!s associated with this lac!ing Their e'orts should be discouraged for they

do not understand our nature The absence of this center de#nes us as what we areand is carried over from lifetime to lifetime )t cannot and should not be

    10/38

Thus we should always treasure those who are of our nature They are ourcompanions throughout the many- many long years Time and again- we will #nd oneanother- for the bonds between us are never bro!en or worn thin

5e can love and hate one another with great passion- yet we are forever loyal to ourown

    !II. Basi Feeding

5e may gain what we need through feeding- drawing in life as we would breath

5hen we are the center of attention of a whole group- we may feed upon theemotions of those around us as they are directed toward us Those involved in thegroup are unli!ely to notice the loss of energy- and oftentimes feeding in this way

only increases their focus upon you

This is an activity many .otentials engage in- though they do not often consciouslyunderstand what it is they do This is one of the main reasons many .otentials aredrawn toward the stage Many become actors- storytellers- musicians or otherperformers so that they may achieve the !ind of focused attention they crave

or those who have Become- this is a pleasing activity- but rarely satis#es more thanthe most super#cial of needs

6ven when a group is not focused upon us- we may feed generally upon them :ophysical contact is necessary@ we simply expand our awareness to encompass thegroup around us as if throwing out a net- or visuali7e ourselves at the center of a

whirlpool- drawing everything in Thus our energy extends beyond ourselves and- li!eembracing good friends- we pull bits of everyone about us into ourselves- breathingthem deeply

This is less satisfying than a focused group draw but can sustain us in a time ofdesperate need when no other option is available .laces with high energy and manyemotions are preferable for this activity- and thus we are often drawn to dance hallsand clubs /nce again- this manner of feeding is subtle and easily overloo!ed- andthose being fed from are unli!ely to notice the loss High energy places often haveenough ambient energy 3oating loosely in the atmosphere that you are truly ta!inglittle from any of the individual people there

The two above techni2ues may be focused variably upon a single person for a slightlymore intense e'ect The individual in 2uestion does not have to be aware of youractivities- and they do not even have to be close for you to feed from them 5ithconcentration and focus- you can easily reach out across a room and draw o' energyfrom a speci#c individual &t most- this person will feel a little tired from what youhave ta!en- but most people are so desensiti7ed to the subtle reality that they willpass this o' as ordinary fatigue- stress- or too much drin!

Ta!ing from unawa!ened individuals has its drawbac!s- however Certainly there aremore of them- and they are far less li!ely to notice what you are doing than

  • 5/22/2018 The Vampire Codex

    11/38

&wa!ened individuals However- they are almost wholly ignorant to the energy thatcourses through them and they do little or nothing to cultivate this aspect of theirspiritual selves- and so the 2uality of their energy is very poor

eeding from the &wa!ened is far more rewarding- as they cultivate their energybodies- and so the 2uality of energy is purer and more intense However- feeding

without permission from the &wa!ened runs you the ris! of getting caught Many alsoperceive this as a psychic attac!- and your actions will rarely be responded to !indly

To this end- willing partners are the most advisable as they will not retaliate foranything which they consider an infringement on their person Having a willingpartner who is &wa!ened is more ful#lling anyway- since the more feedbac! youreceive from your targets- the more satisfying the drain- especially if they have someawareness of what is happening to them )t is li!e ma!ing love@ the best partner is theone who responds to your touch- whose reactions guide you in increasing theirexperience of the exchange

*ingle target- longAdistance draws are convenient for establishing a connection tosomeone in order to draw them closer to you but before it is socially appropriate to

    engage in actual physical contact

)n general- energy coupled with some strong emotion is more ful#lling than simpleenergy alone /ne of the most intense emotions we can feed upon is fear- but thenegative repercussions associated with inspiring this emotion ma!e it inadvisable topursue The next most intense emotion is passion or ecstasy- and this can be veryful#lling for both you and your partner &ny emotion that is transformative in itspower and depth pleasantly satis#es our needs

5e may also feed upon energy gathered for religious purposes This will sustain us ina time of need when no other sources are available- though often it is meager fare

5hen people gather to worship- they generate a strong force of energy but few- ifany of them- ever !now how to properly direct it Thus it curls up li!e smo!edirectionlessly through their place of worship or clings around those items whichserved as the foci for the group9s attentions

5hether we sit in on the actual worship or appear shortly thereafter- we may a'ect ageneral draw using the net techni2ue which pulls the undirected energy intoourselves The obects which were focused upon by the crowd can also be drained ofthe energy endowed in them- either from a distant- general draw or from the moredirect drain of physical contact

Many #nd such activities scandalous and unforgivable- but in truth the groups thatcan be preyed upon in this fashion have little awareness that they have been

victimi7ed and su'er not from our predations The energy of their worship wasundirected anyway and would dissipate eventually on its own- having served tobene#t no one

    !III. Breath and %ife

  • 5/22/2018 The Vampire Codex

    12/38

5e can ade2uately feed from a distance- extending our subtle bodies and our willsbeyond the limits of our physical bodies in order to touch the energies of others *uchtechni2ues can be satisfying in their own right- yet we are not solely beings ofenergy 5e are a balance of spirit and matter- as are all things- and so contact withmore than ust energyAbodies is necessary for us to feel truly satis#ed

.hysical contact coupled with that extension of our *elves that creates energycontact is the main method used to feed

The primary centers for achieving such contact are our hands and our mouths Thehands may tingle when used for this purpose /ur touch at this time is intense- oftenvery cold but also shiveringly pleasant &s we draw forth more energy- the cold givesway to warmth which in turn gives way to heat The heat is a byproduct of the energyexchange

)n extreme cases- we may leave traces of our feeding- even when feeding solely withour hands 5e can draw blood up through the very pores or leave barely discerniblebruises at our points of contact

5e draw energy in li!e breath@ this is a controlled breathing techni2ue whichencompasses much more than our lungs 6ven when the primary focus is our handsor if our target is far removed from us physically- this breathing helps focus ourinta!e of energy )t is one slow- sustained inhalation- almost li!e smo!ing a cigaretteor suc!ing air through a very small straw )f done correctly- it will seem that your arebreathing in far beyond the capacity of your lungs ,i!e breath- energy is drawn in-#lling us with life and vitality ;ou will feel it- li!e a rush- spread through you- tinglingdown to your #ngers and toes ;ou will achieve an altered state of consciousnesswhile doing this- where body and energy body are both clearly perceived Time mayseem drawn out and distance will be altered ;our perceptions can expand toencompass a whole room- seeing everything inside and out all at once

,i!e breath- energy may also be expelled- exhaled into the person you choose to giveit to This secondary function of drawing energy is used in healing )t is the necessarycounterbalance to our function of ta!ing energy 5e are creatures of balance aboveall else- and even as we can sap the energy of those around us- so too can we build itup in order to help and heal

    !IV. Assimilating &nergy

5hen we feed- we must ta!e the life energy of others )t cannot be given )t can be

o'ered freely- but still we must do the ta!ing This is fundamental to the way in whichwe must process the energy for use ourselves

5hen we draw in energy from another- it is transformed through the feeding processinto energy we can assimilate and use )f another- however wellAmeaning- see!s toforce energy into us- it will do us little good The energy must be assimilated tomatch our own if we are to bene#t from it

  • 5/22/2018 The Vampire Codex

    13/38

)t is very diFcult for us to assimilate any energy beyond that of life /thers may drawtheir strength from the earth- the elements- even the stars- but we are bound to lifeby our lac! of it *ome of us are more disconnected from life than others- and this isre3ected in what and how much we can feed from in order to sustain ourselves ewof us can feed from alternate sources- but when we can- it is a blessing which shouldnot be ignored

    !V. Blood and %ife

o not mista!e mere blood for life 5e feed upon something far subtler

However- do not be surprised if- in feeding- you taste blood within your mouth- forblood and life are intricately interwoven

5e are creatures of both matter and spirit- and thus we a'ect others on both of theselevels Blood is the physical substance of life- and so we are bound ever so slightly tothis material expression of our spiritual need

o not be misled by the uxtaposition of energy and blood :o cut or puncture isnecessary for the transfer to occur /ur ways are far subtler than that &s you drawout life- you draw out a minute amount of blood with the life 6ven when there is nophysical contact between you and your partner- when the draw is deep enough- thiswill occur

or this reason- always ta!e care in who you feed from- for a taint in their blood maycarry over to you

:ever feed from the ill or diseased :ever feed from those who have drugs or alcoholin their system unless you wish to parta!e of their intoxication for yourself The taintsin their bodies will transfer over to you ;ou will !now those who are tainted by thesensations you get when near them ;ou will have an instinctual aversion to touchingor getting close to such people ,i!ewise- your senses will warn you if you attempt toinitiate a draw Much of your awareness of the taint will occur on an unspo!en level-so be attentive to your impressions and intuitions

8iven time and careful observation- you will learn to discern these sensations in orderto identify the taint This !nowledge- however- may bring you great grief- for thereare few left in this world who are not tainted in one manner or another

!VI. 'eography of the &nergy Body

/n the body- there are certain centers where energy is concentrated These havecome to be !nown generally as cha!ras 5e can easily ma!e a connection to aperson at any of these centers- bridging the gap between body and energyAbody-

  • 5/22/2018 The Vampire Codex

5hen doing energy wor! or doing visuali7ations- it will seem that the center of poweris located in the chest- ust beneath the very base of the sternum This is the Ka )t isthe dynamic opposite of the &!h- so that where the &!h is the immortal- higher soul-the Ka is the bodyAsoul- tied to the needs and hungers of the physical form )t is herethat a strong sensation can be felt during feeding The Ka is interlin!ed with the verycapacity to feed )t is the seat of the spiritual hunger- as well as the bridge between

the subtle energy and the point in the body where this is drawn in and made useful

The Ba is located in the belly- ust beneath the navel The Ba is the center of thespiritual life force By its action- it sustains the life of the subtle body and connectsthe subtle body to the physical- transitory form )t is further the tie which connects usto the wheel of death and rebirth &ltering or severing this center completely willa'ect the way in which the soul travels through the wheel Most other energytraditions such as ;oga describe this center as the seat of the subtle power )t is thisarea ust beneath the navel that a ;ogi is trained to focus on when gathering poweror us- this center is signi#cantly altered Many of us are disconnected from itpartially or entirely /ur center- as a result- is higher- and lies in the Ka

inally- there is a center at the root This is the Min- the sexual force This center is

most completely tied to the body and is the dynamic opposite of the Khu 5here theKhu is the word and will- this is the instinct- that which has the power to rob us of ourwills and transform us into beasts This center is accessible through the genitals or

ust inside the oint of the thigh

Minor centers exist at the wrists- the insides of the elbows and the bac!s of the!nees The palms of the hands and the soles of the feet also contain minor cha!ras&ny of these can be used to create a connection- although we are hardly bound toreach out to another9s energy body through these sites &ny physical contact will do-and as mentioned before- even physical contact is not necessary to feed

    !VII. (ore on Feeding

/ur energy actually pierces the subtle body of our partner and penetrates it- drawingenergy out as if through a straw &fterward- a wound is left in the aura of the partner-though this will close on its own in a few days )t can sometimes be echoed in the3esh in the form of a small rounded bruise )n the case of longAstanding partners- thewound can become a permanent wea! spot in the aura through which we can easilypenetrate and gain access to their energy

8enerally spea!ing- feeding is not harmful to the partner They have a connection to

the universal forceG this will replenish them in time- usually overnight Most partnerswill ust feel a little tired and fu77yAheaded after being fed from Many have describedit li!e a mild drug- something that is pleasantly mellowing *ome experience euphoriaduring feeding and feel they are riding intense waves of pleasure /thers can achievean altered state of consciousness with intense dreamAli!e visions

eeding partners may be a little hypersensitive to bright light afterwards and theymay experience a sudden feeling of cold They may be a little more tired than usualthe next morning- and they may have a headache that is much li!e a hangover

    16/38

However- under ordinary circumstances- these are the most severe side a'ectsfeeding will produce in a partner

*ome caution should be used when feeding from those who are not accustomed to it-however )f fed from too 2uic!ly or too deeply- the partner may experience diFcultyin breathing )rregularities in the heartbeat may follow The partner9s body will tingle

all over- though this may 2uic!ly give way to feelings of numbness and cold *ome#nd this pleasant To others- it is alarming )t may become very diFcult for the personto move and the limbs will feel heavy and uncoordinated )n very extreme cases- thepartner will experience a general depression of the entire sympathetic nervoussystem This includes lowered body temperature- lowered blood pressure- slowedheartArate- and a general lassitude which may manifest itself in extreme cases as anallAover muscular wea!ness and trembling or partial paralysis

5hen feed from extremely deeply- it is almost guaranteed that a partner will partiallyor completely lose consciousness o not panic if this occurs Ma!e certain that theyare in no immediate danger- and if they seem to be breathing all right- ust let themsleep it o' 5ith their connection to the universal life force- there is very littlepermanent damage you can do to someone by overfeeding- so long as you do not

ma!e it a habit to do so

Consistent overfeeding will evo!e in the partner symptoms similar to those which weexperience during periods of starvation The continual shortage of energy will beginto tax the immune system They will be tired all the time- sic!ly and wea! They maysleep a great deal- or they may #nd themselves unable to actually sleep despite theiroverwhelming lethargy .utting constant demands upon one partner will eventuallyput them in a position where their system can no longer compensate for the loss ofenergy fast enough to meet your needs This is why it is always wise to have at leastone other reliable source which you can feed from The best strategy to !eep you andall those close to you healthy is to have two or three partners which you feed from-rotating through them so that no single one of them must bear the full weight of yourneeds

& draw can be enacted in conunction with tantric magic! ;our primary contact ismade at the mouth or the throat- and a tendril is inserted into the subtle body of yourpartner Through intense visuali7ation- this tendril is guided down through yourpartner9s subtle body to the root cha!ra Here the Kundalini energy that is so crucialto Tantra lies coiled ;ou can grasp onto the Kundalini energy and manually pull it upthrough each successive cha!ra raw in only a little during this process until thedrawing up of the energy is complete /nce you have brought the Kundalini throughall the cha!ras to your primary point of contact- you will have generated an immenseamount of energy from which both yourself and your partner can bene#t ;ou andyour partner will sense something li!e an explosion of light and energy withinyourselves- followed immediately by a bursting sensation as if you had ust beenpushed through some barrier This will consummate in a powerful sense of climax on

    the subtle level

eeding in this manner is very productive- as it serves to energi7e both yourself andyour partner ;our partner will almost invariably experience a prolonged andimpressive orgasm- and one may feed upon the torrent of energy that results fromthe climax to increase mutual stimulation )t is almost impossible to exhaust apartner when feeding from the root@ whereas prolonged or deep feeding from any ofthe other maor energy centers can cause trembling- wea!ness- di77iness- and anoverall depression of the system- feeding from the root seems to only increase that

which you feed upon The partner- after recovering from the intensity of the drain isalmost always energi7ed and while they still feel the e'ects of physical exhaustion-they are driven by a fevered desire that can sustain them for hours The process isvery diFcult to master- however- and if the coil of Kundalini energy slips from yourgrasp- you will simply end up initiating a deep feed from all the cha!ras insuccession

    !I!. )reamwalking

Iemember- we can feed through a touch- but our spirits extend far beyond the limitsof our body ,ongAdistance draws that are ust as intimate and intense as feeding3esh to 3esh can be achieved

5hen you are starved for energy and no opportunity to ade2uately sate your needs

has arrived- you may #nd that you will send yourself out in dreams This is much li!eastral travel- although it is largely an unconscious activity ;ou will dream of someoneclose to you This can be a family member- a good friend- a current or a former lover

This person need not be located physically close to you- as the subtle reality does not!now distance as we !now it in the physical world ;our body may be con#ned to yourbedroom- yet your dreamAself may wander hundreds and even thousands of milesaway

The dream will seem unusually vivid )t is very li!ely that the dream will also be lucid-and you will reali7e at least in part that you are dreaming- but that this other personis somehow actually present in the dream )n the course of the dream- you will havean exchange with the target person The exchange can be overtly vampiric- or it maymanifest itself in an erotic context The person who you have visited this way will

wa!e up tired and worn ust as if you had fed directly from them that night /ften-they will recall the dream as well- and if it is possible to compare experiences- youwill #nd that certain elements of the dreamscape were shared by both peopleinvolved in the dream

5ith practice- you will come to be able to distinguish between your ordinary dreamsand these dreamAwal!ing experiences The process does not always have to beunconscious ;ou may gain mastery over this ability and dreamAwal! at will Howeverit remains a survival techni2ue inherent in the vampiric nature Therefore- especiallyin periods of dire need- you may #nd your soul wandering regardless of your personalcontrol

    !!. Choosing )onors

)n crowds or when performing a general- longAdistance drain- it is nearly impossible toassure that your victims are willing 5hen physical contact is not involved or whenthe drain is wea! enough- such consent is unnecessary

However- when you feed deeply upon someone- especially through physical contact-it is advisable that you ma!e certain your partner understands what is being done tothem so that they !now the ris!s and cannot blame you for invading their person, ying and dissembling to someone you must be so close to will only ma!e theirreaction to you all the more violent when and if they discover your true nature

This re2uires us to choose our longAterm feeding partners with great care Casualfeeding is discouraged as too many partners may gossip and eventually learn whatyou have done to them by comparing notes Two or three regular partners aresuggested- so you may establish strong lin!s with them and rotate them as the needarises- so no single one is exhausted by your demands

/ur partners ideally must be awa!e enough to understand and accept what we are orelse our explanation of what we do to them will be met only with scorn andincredulity ;ou must carefully build a relationship up with a prospective partner-sounding out their beliefs until you feel comfortable in entrusting them with the truthof what you are )f you cannot feel comfortable in telling them what you do to them-you should not use them as a regular feeding partner

5e must select partners who are emotionally strong and mentally stable Those whoare versed in the arts of the subtle reality are preferable The bond that we mustshare with someone in order to feed deeply from them is profound indeed )tencompasses all levels of being- physical- spiritual- mental- and emotional- and it canbe more than most ordinary fol! can safely handle /ur lovema!ing and often evenour casual contact touches them profoundly on a more than physical level 6ven forthose who have had some experience with the subtle reality- this is something theyhave probably never experienced before and will never experience with any partnersave ourselves

or some- this is too much )t ruins them for everything else They can easily becomeobsessed with us- and especially they will become obsessed with what we can do tothem *uch an obsession is unhealthy for them as well as for us Thus- we must give

our love carefully and diligently watch those whom we are close to for signs ofinstability so we may protect them from the destruction our nature inevitably wrea!s

!!I. The Kiss and the C#rse

/ur draw is li!e a drug /ur partners are overcome with a soothing sensation- untilthey relax to their very core They feel they are drifting in an ocean of pleasure Theyare #lled with a golden- melting sensation that is almost narcotic in its intensity /urdraw can bring visions and it can bring rest and sleep even to the most restless ofsouls The pleasure we give is not wholly physical but occurs upon all levels- andserves to bridge the space between these levels of existence in our partners- raising

them up into an apotheosis of *elf /ur touch is mystical- and it changes our partnersprofoundly on levels they may only have imagined

,i!e a drug- however- our draw can be addictive 5e understand too well theoverpowering desire our need inspires in us- but our partners can also come to bereliant upon the pleasure that we give to them They can become trained to beresponsive to our touch- and their physical and subtle bodies can grow soaccustomed to our drain that they overproduce vitality in anticipation of having itdrained away Thus we must always ta!e care in how often we feed from ourpartners- and try to guard against obsessing them with the pleasure that we give tothe exclusion of all else

    !!II. "#$tle %inks

6ach time you feed from someone- you forge a subtle lin! with them This lin! is li!ean astral tentacle or a silver cord )t connects your subtle body to their subtle body6very time you feed from this person after forging the initial lin!- you ma!e this lin!stronger and deeper The lin! can also be strengthened simply through casualcontact with the person- so whenever you come together socially the lin! isreinforced bit by bit

This lin! serves as a constant connection to the person Through it- you can sensewhere they are- what their emotional state is- and if they are in any physical dangeror distress The deeper and stronger the lin!- the easier it is to travel down it in orderto sense the person on the other end

Through a strong lin!- you will be able to pic! up stray thoughts in addition toemotions ;ou will also be able to implant suggestions and emotions By tugginggently on the lin! with the person- you can ma!e them thin! of you and draw them toyou

5ith concentration- an especially strong lin! will enable you to extend yourawareness completely enough so your are able to perceive through the otherperson9s senses

    !!III. Feeding Thro#gh %inks

/nce a lin! is forged with someone- you may use the lin! to feed from them at adistance The deeper and stronger the lin!- the more eFciently you can draw energy

  • 5/22/2018 The Vampire Codex

    20/38

through it 5ith most such connections- you do not even have to concentrate to drawforth from the person To a certain extent- you are in constant contact with thatperson- and while the energy you gain from them passively is only minimal- a numberof such connections with various people will help sustain you in times of need as wellas prolong the time you can go between more active feedings

)f you choose to actively drain through a lin!- there are two good ways of doing so

irst- you can simply concentrate on pulling some of that person9s energy to youthrough the lin! Center yourself ocus on your connection to that person- thenvisuali7e the person clearly Visuali7e yourself reaching out and touching them tofeed then breathe in- drawing in energy as well as breath

;ou may also extend yourself down through the lin!- initiating a deeper contact withtheir energy body as you do so This is a more direct way of feeding from those youhave subtle connections to- and it is also much more obvious to the person on theother end &s before- concentrate upon the person and get a clear image of them inyour head Then focus on extending your subtle senses to that person- much as youwould if you chose to see through their eyes or perceive their emotional state

5hen you are successfully focused on them- it will seem you are in two places atonce .art of you will be sitting or standing wherever your body is- and you will retainsome awareness of these surroundings .art of you will be focused entirely upon theother person and will feel as if it occupies the same space that they do- or issomehow enveloped around them /nce this has occurred- you may initiate a drain-pulling their energy in through your breath as you had done before

The target of such a drain is li!ely to become aware of it at least on a semiAconsciouslevel They may suddenly #nd themselves thin!ing of you for no reason they canexplain They may smell your perfume or catch sight of you out of the corner of theireye )f they are asleep- they may see you enter their dreams This is a lot li!econscious dreamAwal!ing The techni2ue behind it is largely the same *ensitivetargets may actually perceive your presence- seeing you- ghostAli!e- hoveringsomewhere nearby

/f all the things we can do- this has historically frightened people the most )t servesas the basis for all the myths and legends of demonic and vampiric nightlyvisitations &s such- it is the most revealing of our nature and it will 2uic!ly exposeyou to those it happens to or this reason- this s!ill should be exercised cautiouslyand with great discretion

    !!IV. (anip#lating %inks

,in!s can also be used to control the people on the other end ust as you can receiveemotions and scraps of thoughts through a strong lin!- so too can you send thesethings down the lin! to your target Thus you can in3uence your target9s emotionalstate and even implant suggestions for certain attitudes- beliefs- and behaviors in hisunconscious mind

  • 5/22/2018 The Vampire Codex

    21/38

;ou can also use the lin! to focus an attac! upon your target )nstead of sendingbenign thoughts and emotions down the lin!- you may send negatively chargedenergy- such as impressions of pain- despair- or depression ;ou may also use yourability to feed through a lin! as an attac!- mercilessly draining energy until yourtarget9s reserves are seriously depleted

;ou can also picture the lin! as a tendril of yourself that enters them somewhere attheir core 6xtending the visuali7ation- you can reach out and yan! on this tendril- asif trying to uproot it The connection is often too deep for anything to actually tear orsever it- so the force you visuali7e is transferred to them They will feel something inthe center of their being pulling and tearing down to their core The severity of thissensation and the damage it does depends upon the force with which it is done aswell as how deep the connection goes

;ou may also tug upon a lin! in order to draw a person to you Visuali7e the personclearly and send them images of you .ull them toward you and at the same time-send the distinct impression that they should contact you soon )f they are too far tocome directly to you- they are li!ely to email or call )f they are able to come directlyto you- they probably will within the course of a few days

    !!V. Ca#tionary *otes

5hen you forge a connection with someone- always !eep in mind that the lin! goesboth ways & target- if aware of their lin! to you- can trace it in much the same wayyou can trace it to them

)f the person you have forged a connection with is awa!ened- they can do many of

the same things through the lin! that you can )f they become aware of theconnection- they can use it to contact you- send emotions or thoughts to you- or evento attac! you

The lin! can thus be used to #nd you and to harm you- so it is best to manipulatesuch connections with caution and discretion so that those on the other end eitherremain ignorant to their existence or have no cause to resent your connection tothem

/nce forged- however- a lin! can never be completely severed They can be worndown to a bare #lament- but even these threads can be used with e'ort /nce youhave a connection to someone- it will always be there or this reason if no other-always choose who you will feed deeply from with great caution- for you will always

carry a part of them with you- and it can be used to bring you harm

    !!VI. The Caste "ystem

  • 5/22/2018 The Vampire Codex

    22/38

&ll of us exist upon a threshold This is what ma!es us what we are- and what allowsus the command over energy and the subtle reality that comprises the bul! of ourpowers 5e wal! in two worlds at once- and although the bodies we have are butmortal- the spirit within is vast and eternal

6ach of us di'ers in the 2uality and 2uantity of energy we re2uire to sustain us The

depth of our need is in3uenced by the strength of the connection between our bodiesand our souls Those of us who are more connected to our bodies need to ta!e in lessenergy from those around us unless we are engaged in very draining spiritual wor!

Those who are balanced more on the spirit side of the threshold tend to enoy greaterpowers and sensitivities- but their need for vital spirit is also increased

5here on the threshold one falls a'ects not only the 2uantity and 2uality of energyre2uired- but also what s!ills may be learned- what talents will be inborn- and howones nature will manifest itself )t is crucial to understand these matters and howthey a'ect the individual- especially in a .otential or in one who is verging uponawa!ening

The caste system is an attempt to simplify the various threshold states The castes

are guidelines for understanding ourselves- our basic natures- and the role we play inour community &lthough loosely based upon an ancient social system- the castes arenot intended to become a hierarchy or social structure in this day and age That timehas long gone by )nstead- use the castes as what they are intended to be@ guidelinesfor personal understanding which will hopefully explain some of the mysteries of whyone person processes energy one way- and someone else has a very di'erentexperience and approach

Keep in mind that the caste system is very limited There are but three archetypeso'ered here- and not everyone will #t neatly into any of them )t is far more li!elythat each person will #nd within themselves 2ualities of two or more 5e have beenthrough many lifetimes- and our souls have grown and changed 5e have learnedmuch- and most of us have come a long way from what we once were iscovering

the caste that describes you the best may hold the !ey for understanding your basicnature and how to proceed in awa!ening to it- but use the caste solely as a tool onot try to become something you are not- and do not allow yourself to chafe beneathan archetype that does not suit you )n the end- you are you- with all yourcomplexities and contradictions- and no simple word will ever be found to encompassall of these

    !!VII. Priests

Those of our number who are most disconnected from the physical side of thethreshold have the greatest range of sensitivity and power at their disposal- but theysu'er the greatest wea!nesses They are few in number and many have not survivedthe passing millennia as their disconnectedness from the 3esh can often lead them toreside purely in spirit The demands of the balance they struggle to maintain while inthe 3esh are extreme- and over the years- it has ta!en its toll These individuals areour priests- and they often command the greatest respect for the level of awarenessthey can attain

  • 5/22/2018 The Vampire Codex

    23/38

The priest9s physical body is inextricably lin!ed to his psychical wellAbeing )f hispower begins to wane and he approaches need- his health will su'er- for he can nolonger compensate for the lost energy center in his subtle body :eed- especiallydeep need- can be physically debilitating for one of this caste- and if left to go toolong without feeding- they can be reduced to invalids- hollow shells of what theycould be

.riests are very sensitive to the changing cycles Much of their power wanes duringthe day- then waxes full with the approach of night They su'er the most under directlight and must ta!e pains to avoid sunstro!e Their systems are sensitive to mostcomplex foods- especially when in deep need /f all our !ind- their physical bodiesare the most concretely a'ected by their spiritual state Thus- they are the mostli!ely of our number to be recogni7ed for what they are for their nature manifestsitself in very physical ways

The priest re2uires a greater 2uantity and a #ner 2uality of energy than any other ofour number He- more so than any other- is constantly pulling energy into himself

This occurs on an unconscious- instinctive level- and though it can be consciouslydampened- it cannot be shut o' completely However- even this constant draw will

not sustain the priest unless coupled with conscious feeding

.riests are the only of our number that must feed deeply on a regular basis Thisentails feeding from the energy at the very core of another rather than simplys!imming energy from their surface This is a draw which encompasses all of theenergy centers at once- and can leave the partner burned (su'ering extreme e'ectsof energy loss" the next day

Because they stand upon the threshold between matter and spirit- the priests haveaccess to the greatest range of powers inherent in our !ind However- priests run theris! of being mentally or emotionally unstable because of the strain such power putson their systems They must develop strong egos and indomitable wills in order tobear up under the burden of their power- but this may lead them to become

domineering- arrogant- and obsessed with control

Moderation as well as control are the two rules a priest must live by 5ith great powercomes great responsibility- and those of the priestly caste who do not understand orrespect this doctrine will end up bringing harm to both themselves and others &priest must feed carefully- always drawing away before feeling completely satis#edHe must never give in to the urge to pull all of his partner into himself- to devour forthe sa!e of devouring .riests hold the power of life and death- sanity and madnessover their partners- and they must recogni7e this power and use it responsibly

The priest9s way must ever be the way of balance He must sacri#ce satiation for thesafety of the partner He must accept physical wea!ness and pain in exchange for the

ability to manipulate the subtle energies of all around him He must accept the pull ofhis constant need in exchange for the ability to feed upon his partners in so profounda manner that he will come to grasp and understand their very essence

    !!VIII. Co#nselors

  • 5/22/2018 The Vampire Codex

    24/38

The counselors- of all our !ind- retain the strongest connection to life Though theyhave access to most of the powers inherent in our !ind- they su'er only mildly fromour traditional drawbac!s They are less sensitive to light and the natural cycles asare the priests- and their 3esh only rarely seems abnormally cold They are also lessli!ely to be recogni7ed for what they are Their subtle natures may in3uence theirphysical bodies- but such manifestations are often far subtler than those of a priest

Counselors do not have to feed unless regularly fed upon- though they often growaccustomed to feeding upon others for the pleasure it gives )f they are ill or overAextending themselves on a subtle level- counselors will also deplete their energyenough to ma!e feeding a necessity 6ven so- they su'er only mild symptoms ofwithdrawal when forced to go without energy for an extended period of time Ceasingto feed altogether is rarely debilitating to them /nce they overcome the mental andphysical addiction- they can lead a relatively ordinary life- if that is their choice

& counselor can go his entire life without awa!ening to his true nature There may behints of it and he may have access to a few subtle powers- but unless he is fed upon-he is unli!ely to ever need to feed in an overt fashion )f an unawa!ened counselorfeeds at all- it is only super#cially- usually through intimate contact with friends and

lovers They can get all they need through touching or even through general nonAcontact draws 6ven once they have been fed upon- counselors rarely- if ever-experience deep need- tending to s!im energy from the surface of their partners

Counselors are often very sensual people- as their need for energy is answeredthrough close personal contact with others The sensual nature of their spirit is oftenre3ected in their physical form- so that counselors tend to be attractive in body- litheand #neAboned Male or female- there is a compelling- seductive 2uality about themthat transcends gender Many #nd themselves attracted to vocations ofentertainment- and are gifted in music- the arts- and dance

Counselors #nd it extremely pleasurable to be fed upon Their systems adapt readilyto the demands of feeding- producing energy to match the needs of their partner

/nce a counselor has adapted to a regular routine of being fed from- he will growuncomfortable when that routine is bro!en .hysical discomfort- mental distraction-irritability- and hyper!ineticism may result from an overAabundance of energy if sucha counselor is not fed from regularly

Counselors- li!e priests- tend to be mentally or emotionally unstable- especially whentheir energy is out of balance They also tend toward obsessiveness- especially whenit comes to feeding- sensation- and pleasure

    !!I!. +arriors

The warrior caste in some ways may seem less powerful than even the counselors-but one of their bene#ts is that their true strengths are hidden Their powers tend tomanifest themselves in a very physical nature- allowing them to consciously augmenttheir natural strength- stamina- and speed )n body- they tend to be broadAshoulderedand rugged- with a natural propensity for various martial arts They can also

consciously enhance their healing so they recover almost completely from the mostgrievous of wounds

5arriors are typically less sensitive to the subtle reality than either priests orcounselors- although they can achieve sensitivity with e'ort Mainly- this desensiti7edstate is brought about by a thic!

/ur greatest power- that which sustains us and de#nes us as what we are- is ourability to manipulate energy By extending our energy beyond ourselves- we are ableto manipulate the energies of others even over great distances

irst we must become aware of our own energies 5e must !now our subtle body- itsstrengths and limitations 5e must have a clear picture of our subtle being in our

5e must remember that thought is energy- and what we imagine and consciouslyvisuali7e will have an e'ect upon the world around us 5e manipulate our ownenergy bodies through visuali7ation- directing our energies according to our will

The main foci for the manipulation of energy are our mouths and our hands Themouth and the hands are our tools The way we manipulate these tools is throughbreath- visuali7ation- and will /ur breath combines our physical and subtle bodies ina uni#ed stream of life D air

5ith the touch of our hands- with the !iss of our lips- or with the concentrated intentto touch over a distance- all coupled with breath- we can pull energy out of others orbreathe it into them in a healing stream

)n order to more eFciently ta!e energy out of another or to put it in- we must extendbeyond breath 4sing the stream of the breath as a focus- visuali7e a tendril of thesubtle body moving toward and inserting itself into the target /nce a connection is

made- the sense of it is unmista!able o not let doubt or worry distract you- butretain your focus on the visuali7ation and the breath

)t is best to thin! of this tendril not as something which moves through ordinaryspace or ordinary physicality )t is powered by the breath and the breath focuses anddirects it- yet it cannot be found physically in the stream of the breath )t is anextension of our wills and our imaginations- and thus exists on a level of pure energy

Thin! of the world as a doubleAexposure The clearest part of the photograph is thephysical- material world This is what the maority of humanity mista!es for the sumtotal of reality But there is a translucent ghostAimage that is layered on top of andthroughout the other )n truth- they are inextricably woven together )t is this 2uasiAreality through which our subtle bodies move- and it is the other obects and forces in

this 2uasiAreality that our subtle bodies interact with and in3uence

Thin! of yourself as existing in both of these realities at once Be aware of thematerial universe around you but at the same time be aware of the shadow realitythat is woven throughout it Know that you can a'ect and be a'ected by both

)n the subtle reality- the physical boundaries of things and people are not necessarily#xed By moving parts or all of your subtle body in this aspect of reality- you can passover great distances as if they were nothing- for in truth- here all points exist as one

point ;ou can move inside a living body- perceiving the organs and internal functionsas if they were laid open before you- down to a microscopic level

)n the subtle reality- you can see past the ordinary boundaries of things with a sensethat is more impression coupled with insight &ctual physical sight is only an analogyhere- a metaphor for perceiving on a deeper level However- as you are more

accustomed to physical sight- you are most li!ely to interpret your impressions of thisaspect of reality in terms of images and vision

;ou cannot only perceive things in the subtle reality- but you can in3uence them aswell ;ou can ta!e things out of a living body and you can put things in- provided theobects and forces you are manipulating have their origin in the subtle reality throughwhich you move These things will not be

    28/38

The same concept can be applied to pushing yourself beyond the limits of physicalin#rmity or disease Many of us are sic!ly- because the connection between thephysical and the spiritual bodies is disointed or incomplete ;et we can overcomewhatever our physical limitations may be with a concentrated e'ort of will &s withaugmentation- focus is essential- and compensating for extended periods of time willdeplete you so that you will have to feed heavily more often ;et with practice and

diligence- one can compensate for the most debilitating conditions without hardly athought- so that even those with serious heart conditions can achieve a level ofphysical activity and endurance that would astonish physicians

    !!!II. "#$tle Pereption

*ight of the subtle which lies within and throughout all physical things comes withpractice and concentration Most of us can- to one degree or another- perceive theenergy we manipulate- the life which courses through those around us This is not somuch something that is seen with the eyes as it is something which gives theimpression of sight )t is a perception- an intuition- easily ignored or discounted )tmay manifest to you as light or color as that is the easiest way your mind caninterpret it 5henever you attempt to see on this level- remember not to ta!e theidea of sight too literally and instead trust your instincts and impressions

&nother sensual impression we gain is the sense of others9 physical and emotionalstates This involves our ability to pic! up on their energy and latent thoughts

Though this can be done simply by focusing our attention brie3y on the person in2uestion- the strongest sensations are gained through physical contact )t is bygauging our impressions to our target9s energy that we can determine whether he issic! or well- drugged- diseased- or intoxicated 5e can further perceive his generalemotional state- energy level- and level of power (if any"

&gain- these impressions can be very vague and it will ta!e time and practice to evenreali7e that you can sense these things- let alone learn how to di'erentiate sic! fromwell- energi7ed from drained- and the diverse states in between ,earn through trialand error- as everyone9s impressions tend to di'er- and trust your instincts at alltimes

    !!!III. (anifesting

5e all possess a certain presence which hangs about us at all times 5hether wewish this or not- it will still be present to a limited degree- even when an e'ort ismade to damp the e'ect down

/ur presence tends to be dar! and intimidating- and it inspires fear and uncertaintyin most who are exposed to it *ome- however- #nd our presence dar!ly fascinating-and for these it manifests as an irresistible and almost sexual attraction

  • 5/22/2018 The Vampire Codex

    29/38

Manifesting is the art of ta!ing this presence and manipulating it to our advantage

Manifesting re2uires much the same techni2ue as augmentation- however in the caseof manifestation- the energy gathered is not directed within ourselves- to our physicalbodies )nstead- it is extended outward so that it spreads around us li!e a cloa!

Center yourself- gather your energies- then expand them out around yourselfVisuali7e a nimbus of energy surrounding you- and focus on a particular image oremotion which you desire to proect with this energy

& great deal of manifesting relies upon the people around you ;ou are extendingyour energy to in3uence their minds on a semiAconscious level Because you arespea!ing directly to their unconscious minds- their individual perceptions of yourintent will ultimately in3uence what they perceive and how they react to you

The most basic form of manifesting is manifesting the vampire This draws upon thearchetype that has developed around our !ind over the years and can have a verypotent psychological a'ect on those around you 8ather to your core all that ma!esyou what you are@ all the dar!ness- the alienation- the predatory need Then shootthis concentrated energy throughout your being- extending it a few feet in front ofyou so that all those around you will be a'ected by this proection By experimenting-you can extend this inimical aura around yourself for many feet- and what withsatisfaction at it clears your way through a pressing crowd

4sing essentially the same techni2ue- you can proect fear- respect- intimidation-attraction- awe- and virtually anything else into the minds of those around you Mostwill react to this proection on an unconscious level- moving toward you or hastily outof your way as you desire Manifesting will especially draw the attention of those whoare awa!ened or even semiAawa!e

This e'ect may also be used to obscure yourself from others The techni2ue is the

same- but instead of proecting fear or attraction- you should simply in3uence thosearound you to ignore you .roect obscurity and the sense that you are unremar!ableand blend into your surroundings 5hen done properly- this will allow you to loseyourself in a crowd or even help you to hide unnoticed in an empty room

    !!!IV. *at#re of the A#ra

5e all share a distinctive aura which others may perceive and use to identify us /urvampiric signature is most obviously expressed in the auras of priests and leastobvious in the auras of concubines 5e may also perceive this aura as well as theauras of others This perception occurs on the subtle level and enables us to gaininformation about those around us

6ssentially- the aura is the subtle body where it extends beyond the limits of thephysical body &s we constantly tread upon the threshold of spirit and matter- oursubtle bodies are much larger than those of ordinary fol!- and they extend far aroundus- depending upon our selfAmastery- energy level- and level of power

  • 5/22/2018 The Vampire Codex

    30/38

The aura can be perceived in several relatively thin layers of almostAlight whichextend ust beyond the s!in )f you loo! for actual- physical light extending aroundthe body li!e a halo- you will miss the subtle nuances of the actual aura

The aura can be perceived as light or color- though it is really neither of these things)n truth- light and color are merely the best metaphors was can devise in order to

describe and interpret something which layers over physical reality from the subtleli!e a doubleAexposure

The aura may appear textured- most often li!e a li2uid AA oily- rippling- misty )t is notstatic but 3uid and is constantly though subtly changing )t can be perceived throughtouch as warmth or as a subtle tension or pressure that is almost there beneath your#ngers

)ts essence is subtle and thus our experience of it is subtle .erception of the aura isultimately something which must be intuited- perceived by insight more than with ourordinary senses

    !!!V. Perei-ing the A#ra

The best place to #rst loo! for a glimpse of the aura is on the hand around the#ngers ,oo! closely at the area ust above the 3esh & very small layer- perhaps onlymillimeters thic!- should be perceptible )t will di'er in texture and 2uality from theair around it- and after a time- colors may suggest themselves to you &t all times youshould trust your instincts and impressions and allow them to guide you to yourconclusions o not doubt your perceptions until after you have explored them fully/nce you are #nished- you can step bac! and analy7e your experience all you wish

&fter you have focused on the #rst layer- another layer- li!e a misty ring above the#rst- may become perceptible This is the outer shell of the aura )t varies in thic!nessfrom person to person The layer of the aura can actually vary from day to day orhour to hour on any given person according to mood- energy level- and so forth )ngeneral- this layer is colorless but may appear lighter or dar!er in varying shades ofgrey 5hen particularly thic! and opa2ue- this usually suggests shields

The inner layer of the aura can vary in brightness and color according to health-emotional state- and energy level There is no standard interpretation chart for any ofthese 2ualities- as perception is strongly in3uenced by the subective expectations ofthe individual

5e #lter all of our perceptions- to one degree or another- through our individualsymbol system Thus- intuition has proven to be the only set rule for aurainterpretation 5hat are your emotional reactions and instinctual responses to aparticular color or 2uality in the auraJ )f you see a particular color- analy7e what thatcolor means to you The aura- li!e so many other psychic impressions- spea!s to youin the language of symbol &s your symbol system is uni2uely your own- you mustcome to understand the meaning of your individual symbols if you are to accuratelyinterpret your perceptions of the aura

    !!!VI. &nergy (anip#lation

)t is part of our essential nature to manipulate energy- and we are not limited to onlyta!ing energy away from others into ourselves Because we can sense energy- graspit- in3uence it- and channel it- we may also give energy to others Most often- we dothis to help and to heal- though li!e all things- this s!ill can also be used to hurt andharm

or most energy manipulations- our best focus is our hands 5e can easily gatherenergy into our hands and manipulate it )f the energy comes from within ourselves-we need but to draw the energy into our center- then channel the energy down toeither or both hands

)f you are successful in focusing energy into your hands- they will begin to grow warm

and tingle The capillaries will expand- causing a splotchy pin!ening of the s!in as- ona subtler level- the energy channels also expand to increase circulation on bothlevels

& thrumming sensation may encompass your arms all the way up to the elbows andin some cases may even be perceptible to those around you )f someone touchesyour hands at this point- he will not only notice the increased heat (a byAproduct ofthe coalescing energy" but he will also feel an electrical vibration coursing throughyour 3esh

/nce you have gathered such a charge to your hands- you may direct the energytoward a speci#c goal To do this- you must visuali7e what you wish to do-accompanying the visuali7ation with actual physical contact and motions to help

    maintain focus

    !!!VII. The &nergy Ball

/nce you have learned how to focus and direct energy through your body- the mostbasic form of external energy manipulation is the energy ball Cup your hands slightlyuntil you feel a buildAup of energy gather in your palm )t will have a barelyperceptible heft to it- and if you press your #ngers around it- you will feel a subtle

tension before it begins to give

This energy is malleable- li!e a very viscous 3uid- and may be handled and shaped asyou would clay

Bring your hands together- palms still cupped and slightly parted- and form theenergy into a ball eel its weight and the tension it creates between your #ngersMold it and shape it with your hands )n this state- it can be thrown at a target orpassed from person to person )n general- anyone struc! with such a neutral ball ofenergy will feel something- though they may be hard pressed to de#ne what

  • 5/22/2018 The Vampire Codex

    32/38

)f you loo! at this collected energy as you would the aura- you will #nd that it isperceptible as something misty or oily in the space between your hands

;ou may charge this energy with a speci#c emotion or sensation *imply concentrateon the energy in your hands and concentrate on that emotion or sensation Iecall itso completely that you actually experience it while focusing on the energy ball irect

the sensation to the energy in your hands The energy will then become infused withthe emotion or sensation which you generated

:ow- when you throw this energy ball at someone- they will experience the sensationor emotion as you did They may ignore it or they may act upon what they suddenlyfeel *ometimes- if the sensation is strong enough- they may ump and instinctivelyloo! over at you

    !!!VIII. A#gmented ealing

6nergy gathered into your hands- if allowed to remain neutral and uncharged by anyextraneous emotions- can be used to heal yourself or another

Cup the energy in your hand and hold this around the a'ected area Channel theenergy through your hands to the wound &s you send the energy through yourhands- extends your awareness to include all that the energy comes into contactwith ocus on gradually smaller and smaller levels until you sense the source of theproblem

;our perception of the problem and how you see! to deal with it will depend uponyour !nowledge of anatomy and your techni2ue of visuali7ation )n general- you can

speed the healing of any wound by vitali7ing the area with energy and stimulatingboth circulation and cell growth

)f there are bro!en bones- visuali7e the ends of the bone !nitting bac! together )fthere are tears in muscles or tendons- will the #bers to re!nit themselves Visuali7ethe blood gathering to carry away the 3uids which cause swelling or any clottedmatter left over from bruises or other ruptures Visuali7e cell growth and mitosisoccurring on an increased level

lood the area with as much energy as you can spare- then gradually cease the 3owKeep your hands over the area- holding the heat you9ve generated in place for a bitlonger- then pull away

    !!!I!. Ad-aned ealing Tehni/#es

*ometimes a wound or illness may not have a physical cause )n such a case- layyour hands upon the area where the problem is focused and extend your awareness

be drained into nonAexistence by those of our !ind The energy may not besomething which we can process or ma!e use of- but it is energy nonetheless andtherefore not proof against our manipulations

    !%III. Creating Filters

5e are constantly pulling energy into ourselves This function is unconscious andoften undiscerning 5hen you are among a group of people- you will draw upon theambient energy that is generated by that group /ccasionally- there is a 2uality tothe energy of a group that you may not wish to ta!e into yourself This is especiallytrue if many of the individuals in the group are tainted in some way- as with illness-intoxication- or drugAuse

Iather than shielding yourself and thus bloc!ing yourself o' from all the energy in

the room- you may set up a #lter ,ess rigid and opa2ue than a true shield- a #lterallows you to sort through all that you ta!e in and bloc! certain elements of thatenergy out & #lter may target certain emotions which you do not wish to vicariouslyexperience or they may #lter out the taint of alcohol- drugs- or disease so you do notdraw these things into yourself during a general crowd feed

Target the speci#c energy that you do not wish to ta!e in Visuali7e a #lter- li!e aporous shield- that will allow everything to pass through except this particular energy)f you are actively drawing from the crowd around you- simply be selective in whatyou pull into yourself through nets or tendrils )solate the unwanted energy fromeverything else and discard it before you actively pull the rest through &ll thisre2uires is an awareness of yourself and your surroundings on the subtle level

& #lter can also be used to ta!e only a speci#c sort of energy in *imply isolate thatelement among the ambient energy- focus on it- then draw upon it to the exclusion ofall else &s the subtle and the physical are intricately interwoven- this can wor! onchemicals present in your target9s system Though physical contact facilitates thistechni2ue- it can be done with e'ort from a distance )n this way- you can focus onthe drugs in someone9s system and pull them away- thus robbing them of their high

Treat the drugs as you would any intrusion on the subtle level- grabbing onto themwith your subtle body but not pulling them into yourself

)f you grab onto the drugs or alcohol present in another9s system in this way and pullthem into yourself- you will experience the e'ects of the drugs vicariously*ometimes this is desirable *imply focus on someone who is suitably intoxicated-focus on the element present in their systems that is responsible for the intoxication-

and draw it into yourself /nce again- this is most eFciently done with person toperson physical contact- but can be e'ected in a group or longAdistance draw

Because you have the ability to manipulate energy on such a level- you can alsoconsciously burn the resulting intoxication out of your system whenever you choose*imply extend your awareness within yourself- focus on the intoxicant- gather it upand cast it away This wor!s to a certain degree even it you have physically imbibedthe intoxicant

    !%IV. "pirit#al Cleansings

6nergy is our greatest resource )t sustains us- it ma!es us strong )t is both ourweapon and our tool )t is our nature to tread the very threshold between spirit andmatter or this reason- we have a greater sensitivity to the subtle than any otherphysical being However- our sensitivities are both a power and a bane ust as wecan easily a'ect the energies of the subtle reality- so too are we easily a'ected bythem

5e are very sensitive to the energy of the places we live iscarded energy andemotions 3a!e o' of people much li!e dust- and over time they inevitably build up ina place & buildAup of negative emotions can begin to a'ect us by altering our healthand our mood This is true to a certain extent of every living being- but for us thesensitivity level is excruciatingly high 5e should ta!e care in our living spaces toencourage a good 3ow of energy through the rooms- and to ma!e certain that thepsychic space of our houses is cleaned out once in a while

To e'ect such a cleaning- simply go through the house from room to room- reachingout on the subtle level with your energy and scraping things down Visuali7eextensions of your energy body literally scraping down the walls and gathering thecrud out of the corners Ta!e care to gather this detritus together and hold it AA do notdraw it into your self 5hen you have gone through the entire house- wor! toward thefront or bac! door and throw the stu' out *ha!e it o' your hands- scraping it o' if itseems to cling aggressively /utside- energy 3ows more freely than indoors- and thisnegative buildup will be carried away and dissipate naturally once expelled

/ften we will unconsciously react to the subtle nature of a place- responding to the

impressions we get from it without even really thin!ing about it )n order to promotethe healthiest atmosphere for ourselves- we must ta!e care that our living space isarranged in such a way that we respond to it positively on the subtle level as well ason the physical Techni2ues li!e eng *hui are crucial to our !ind as even the slightestupset in the energy of a place can a'ect us )n the most ideal case- the space inwhich we live should be attuned to us- charged much li!e the sacred space in atemple or 5iccan circle Many of us build our sacred space around us naturally andwithout thin!ing about it- so that the di'erence between our space and that of otherscan be distinctly felt when we visit others and when we travel

    !%V. Otherside Beings

The subtle reality is immense Because our concepts of distance and physicalboundaries do not exist there- any single space may be populated by hundreds ofsubtle beings- resonances- and impressions 6ven the most desolate- empty spacehere in the physical world is crawling with things on the subtle level *ome canperceive and interact with us- but most are largely too out of phase to noticeanything but their own small sliver of the realm

  • 5/22/2018 The Vampire Codex

    36/38

Most ordinary people are li!e the out of phase beings They are too intent on theirone small aspect of reality to respond to anything else ;et because of our sensitivenatures- we cannot help but perceive and respond to at least some of these otherthings- and because we exist more completely in both the physical and t
