About Urbanite Jewelry urbanite jewelry is an independently designed & crafted jewelry company based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada run by Krista Leben.

At urbanite, each of our pieces is inspired by and named after a different world city. We want you to experience the culture, archi-tecture and feeling of each city when you wear our jewelry. We strongly believe that simplicity is the ultimate form of sophistica-tion, and each of our pieces reflects this idea. Our jewelry has a fresh, clean style and is versatile and easy-to-wear every day.

Customers are not only drawn to the fresh, clean style of our jew-elry, but often also love picking up a piece for sentimental value; they love having a piece that represents their childhood home or their favorite vacation spot. Each piece comes packaged on a Po-laroid from the city they are named after.

Our jewelry is currently carried in stores across Canada and has

been featured on media spots & publications such as CBC News, /

A\ Morning Ottawa, CTV News, CTV Morning, WHERE Magazine,

and in the Ottawa Citizen.

Materials & Process Each urbanite piece begins by studying the architecture and

surroundings of a city. Whether it’s exploring the city by foot or

studying old magazines, travel guides and mementos from the

city, we gain a sense of the city’s look and feel and then begin

sketching ideas for the piece.

Once the design has been completed, we source materials and

pendants that fit the concept. Materials are often sourced from

the actual city that the piece is named after. We then bring the

materials back to our studio and create physical prototype of

the piece, tweaking it until it’s just perfect.

Once photographed, the piece gets a city description and we

create a special Polaroid for the piece to be packaged on fea-

turing an image we have shot in the piece’s city. The result is a

modern, versatile piece of jewelry distilled with the essence of

a city within its curves and lines.
