Beach Days
“God is here, right now, at our side. We can see him in this mist, in the ground we’re walking on, even in my shoes. His angels keep watch while we sleep and help us in our work. In order to find God, you have only to look around.”
- author Paulo Coelho
Where do you find God? Where is it easiest for you to feel the presence of the Di-vine?
Perhaps in church, in an open field, or in the presence of grandchildren. Maybe while painting, in midst of gardening, or while fishing on a lake. Maybe in a favorite chair while praying or reading scripture. Or perhaps while driving and singing along to the radio.
My spot is the ocean.
Don’t get me wrong, I find God in many places, in all places; but it is at the beach with the sight and sound of the waves that God ‘sticks out’ in a special way. It is at the ocean that I find it easiest to talk to God—to spend quality time with my Lord and Savior.
My goal this summer is to spend a little time at the beach every week. For me, it’s a spiritual discipline.
What about you? Where could you spend some extra time with God this summer? How can you work God into your schedule?
Finding God doesn’t have to be difficult; it’s meant to be a fulfilling and rewarding relationship, like spending time with an old friend. So what do you love to do? And can you find God there? If the answer to that last question is ‘yes’, then consider doing more of it, with an emphasis on bringing God to mind more often in the midst of whatever ‘it’ is. Chances are, Jesus enjoys doing much of the same things we do, anyway...So why not talk to him as we wade in waves and feel the sand between our toes? I do.
Happy Summer,
Pastor Amanda

PRAYER FOR JULY
O Lord our God, grant that we may have fellowship with you every day. May
our hearts be ready to fulfill your commandments and to do what you want in all
things. Hear our prayer. Hear and answer when we pray for the nations, for the
whole world, and let your holy will be done. Remember all who are in distress,
and lead them on the right way. May we go with joyful hearts wherever you lead
us. Your name will be our help, your glory will come, and the world will be full of
your love, your power, and your splendor. Amen. (From Plough.com)

WELCOME
The United Methodist Church at Mount Tabor is a community of faith-filled friends who seek to grow closer to God through the ministry of Jesus Christ and by the guidance of the
Holy Spirit. We celebrate the history of Mount Tabor, and look with hope toward the future. Everyone is welcome here; everyone is cherished here; for everyone is a child of God. All are welcome to participate with us in our journey of faith, regardless of back-
ground, theological stance, or personal characteristics. We rejoice in God creating us to be a diverse family; and we strive to follow the Spirit’s leading as one, while maintaining and upholding our individuality. Because of the current official stance of The United Methodist
Church, we feel it is important to state a welcome to those of all sexual orientations and gender identities—You are welcome here.
God loves you just the way you are; and so do we.
