The capital of Croatia is Zagreb and our missionaries Jura and Aleksandra Lazar live an hour north in Varaždin. The necktie is an Croatian invention. A tie is called cravat in Croatian. The first ties were worn by Croatian soldiers in the 17th century during the Thirty Years' War in Europe. One of the most famous Croatians is the inventor Nikola Tesla (1856-1943). He made many inventions for producing and transmitting electric power and owned more than 270 patents. The blue in Croatia’s flag is for freedom, the white is for peace, and the red is for revolution. The shield in the center represents different places and parts of history of Croatia. Above you can see the size of Croatia compared to the size of Oklahoma in the United States. Croatia is truly beautiful and many people like to take vacations there, especially Europeans. Look at the beauty God created there! Croatians speak Croatian! They sell a lot of equipment, machinery, fabric, chemicals, food, and fuel to other countries, but very little of it comes to the United States.
