Most cars come with a variety of trim levels, each offering different features and specifications. The 2017 Honda Ridgeline comes with seven. So, how will you determine which best suits your lifestyle and needs?

In this trim guide, you’ll learn about the different features found in each level of the Ridgeline. To get started, let’s look at the base trim.

2017 Honda Ridgeline RTThe first of the 2017 Honda Ridgeline trims is the RT. Here, you’ll find all the features and specifications that serve as the truck’s hardy foundation. Some features may later be swapped out for an enhanced version. But, unless otherwise stated, everything found in the RT can be found in the remaining trim levels.

Performance Standard to the Honda Ridgeline is a 3.5L V6 engine capable of generating up to 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. A Drive-By-Wire Electronic Throttle Control system underscores this power, while features like Eco Assist™ and the direct injection fuel system bolster efficiently. Despite its raw muscle, the 2-wheel drive (2WD) Ridgeline can maintain 26 MPG highway and 19 MPG city.1

The 2WD system includes Intelligent Traction Management, so no matter the weather, your truck will stay on course. A 6-speed automatic transmission has also been added for quick gear shifting.

When 2WD is equipped, the Ridgeline can tow up to 3,500 pounds.

Safety

The Ridgeline is built for tremendous durability with the Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure. This structure includes dynamic crumple zones that can both absorb and deflect collision impacts. An advanced airbag system has also been installed with rollover sensors and Smart Vent Technology.

A few protective technologies have been added for increased safety. Daytime running lights and a multi-angle rearview camera with guidelines both increase visibility and awareness. Meanwhile, Vehicle Stability Assist™ with Traction Control underscores the 2WD.

Exterior

The Ridgeline truck bed is an impressive 64 inches long and 60 inches wide from wall to wall. It includes a dual-action tailgate and eight heavy-duty tie-down cleats. An In-Bed Trunk® with 7.3 cubic feet of space has been added so you can transport even more cargo. For nighttime adventures, lights have been added to your truck bed for extra illumination.

If you’re going to tow, you’ll need to do so safely. For that reason, the Ridgeline includes a sturdy integrated trailer hitch. Side mirrors are also powered to enhance your sight.

Lastly, a big truck will need big tires. The RT comes with 18-inch silver-painted alloy wheels.

Interior

For your convenience, the Ridgeline is equipped with an easy push-button start. Seating includes comfortable head restraints at all positions, while the rear seat also has a 60/40 split lift-up with under-seat storage.Temperature control is made easy with automatic climate control and added rear seat heater ducts.

Technology

A 200-watt 7-speaker audio system with subwoofer has been installed in the Ridgeline for a robust aural experience. Stream music using the auxiliary jack or USB port. You can also stream music with Bluetooth®2 (or make hands-free phone calls). All these features can be easily accessed using the 5-inch color LCD touchscreen.

Moving Forward

Now that we’ve covered the basics of the 2017 Honda Ridgeline, we’ll focus only on what changes in the remaining trim levels.

2017 Honda Ridgeline RTSWhile safety remains the same in the Ridgeline RTS, several differences can be found in the other categories.

PerformanceIn addition to push-button start, the RTS includes a remote engine start.

ExteriorTo complement remote engine start, Smart Entry has been added. If you have the remote transmitter within 32 inches of your car, you can unlock the trunk and doors without ever using it.

Other changes include the addition of powerful fog lights and all-new 18-inch machine-finished alloy wheels.

InteriorTo increase interior comfort, the RTS comes with tri-zone automatic climate with humidity control. This feature allows for greater variation in temperatures.

The HomeLink® remote system has also been added to grant you wireless garage door and gate control.

For extra storage, the driver’s and front passenger’s seats now include seatback pockets.

TechnologyIn the RTS, your instrumentation cluster now has an exterior temperature indicator.

2017 Honda Ridgeline SportThe only changes to the Ridgeline Sport can be found in the exterior category. Here, the wheels have been swapped for 18-inch gray-painted alloy. Crystal Black Pearl paint and a black exterior trim make for a sleek appealing complement, as does the Sport badging.

2017 Honda Ridgeline RTLIn the RTL, performance, safety, and technology remain the same as previous trims. However, the following changes have been added:

Exterior

The RTL comes with 18-inch exclusive machine-finished alloy wheels, as well as a noise-reducing acoustic windshield.

Interior

In addition to the leather seating found in the RTL, a stylish leather-wrapped steering wheel has been included.

Drivers will have a 10-way adjustable seat with power lumbar support, while front passengers will have a 4-way power adjustable seat. Both are heated.

2017 Honda Ridgeline RTL-TPerformance stays the same in the RTL-T, but every other category sees new additions.

Safety

For added intuition, Honda LaneWatch™ has been installed in the RTL-T. Every time you turn on your blinker, your blind spots will appear on the central display. This way you’ll always know if it’s safe to move over.

The multi-angle rearview camera has also been updated with dynamic guidelines, and the daytime running lights have been upgraded to LEDs.

Exterior

Your remote entry in the RTL-T is now programmable for extra convenience, and Walk Away Auto Lock has been added to Smart Entry.

Interior

To prevent hazardous nighttime glares, an auto-dimming rearview mirror is equipped.

Technology

Several new technology features are added to the RTL-T. First, the audio system has been upgraded to a 225-watt 7-speaker system with subwoofer. And the touchscreen is now a customizable 8-inch audio display with high-resolution WVGA.

To increase playback capabilities, two more USB ports have been added. SiriusXM® Satellite Radio, Pandora®, and HD Radio™ have also been included.

Phone integration increases greatly with the additions of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Both allow you to conveniently access your apps from the touchscreen. SMS text message reading has also been included.

You’ll never have to worry about getting lost in your Ridgeline RTL-T with the Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System™ with Voice Recognition, Honda HD Digital Traffic, and Song by Voice. To complement these features, a compass and turn-by-turn directions have been added to the instrument cluster.

2017 Honda Ridgeline RTL-EAs the most advanced Honda Ridgeline trim yet, the RTL-E includes a wide variety of new features in every category.

Performance

The drivetrain in the RTL-E has been changed to an Intelligent Variable Torque Management All-Wheel Drive (AWD) with Snow/Sand/Mud Traction Management. This drivetrain can vastly improve stability control on slick roads or loose terrain. However, it does reduce mileage slightly to 25 MPG highway and 18 MPG city.3 Towing capacity, on the other hand, increases to 5,000 pounds.

A heavy-duty transmission cooler has also been added to protect your engine.

Safety

Several helpful driver-assisting technologies have been installed in this trim level. The Lane Keeping Assist System and Road Departure Mitigation System can both help to keep your vehicle from drifting outside lanes. Meanwhile, the Collision Mitigating Braking System™ can apply automatic brake force if an accident is unavoidable.

To bolster the function of your Honda LaneWatch™, you can now also benefit from the Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Monitor. This feature can more adeptly monitor vehicles in rear blind spots. Adaptive Cruise Control and auto high-beam lights have also been equipped.

Exterior

New to the Ridgeline RTL-E exterior are auto on/off LED headlights, which can greatly expand your field of vision on a dark night. A one-touch power moonroof with tilt function and power sliding rear window have also been installed. Using this, you can peek back into your truck bed, where you’ll find 150- and 400-watt outlets.

Parking sensors have also been added to this trim level to make for safer and more convenient parking.

Interior

Lighting is enhanced in the RTL-E with the courtesy door lights and blue ambient LED lights. Front beverage holders will also be lightly illuminated.

When settled into the front seat, drivers will now have the benefit of two-position memory, which can easily recall seating preferences. A heated steering wheel will then keep your hands warm in chillier weather.

If you need to converse with backseat passengers, do so using the conversation mirror with sunglasses holder.

Technology

In this trim, you can really crank up your music with the 540-watt premium 8-speaker audio system with subwoofer. If you’re working in the back of the truck, you can still hear your music by using the truck-bed audio system.

The instrument cluster has also been updated to include an AWD indicator and corner/backup sensor indicators.

2017 Honda Ridgeline Black EditionThe only differences between the Ridgeline RTL-E and Black Edition are in the exterior and interior categories.

Exterior

Black Edition exterior trim adds a glossy look to the outside of your truck, as do the 18-inch exclusive black painted alloy wheels.

Interior

The interior is now entirely leather, and blue ambient lights have been replaced with red LEDs.
