The Travellers’ Club was created by young men responding to the homeof Kenyan born writer Khadambi Asalache.

The young men’s poetry explores notions of: rights of passage; being welcome; personal journeys and the centralityof ‘letting go’ to creativity.

The home of Khadambi Asalache is a National Trust property

acquired in 2010. An intimate house on a busy London street, ithas been saved for the nation due to its extraordinary interior.Every surface in the house has been beautifully decorated (byKhadambi) with hand carved wooden fretwork, paintings andcollections of objects – a twenty year journey of creativity thatbegan as a solution to a damp problem in the cellar!

This book has been produced as part of Stories of the World,

one of the major projects at the heart of the London 2012Cultural Olympiad. The Cultural Olympiad began in 2008,and uses the power of the Olympic and Paralympic Games toinspire creativity across all forms of culture, especially amongstyoung people.
