the northern region of the Eastern Alberta Trade Corridor.

ABOUT THE TOWN OF ST. PAUL

St. Paul is centrally located in the heart of the Alberta HUB region. Alberta HUB is a partnership of communities, post-secondary educational institutions and business/industry in Northeastern Alberta meant to enhance the quality of life and economic interests of this region. With a growing population of approximately 6,000, St. Paul is a major trading center for 35,000 people. St. Paul's economic base is the rich agricultural land that surrounds the town, supplemented by the oil and gas industry. The town is located on Highway 29 and is surrounded by a large number of lakes and campgrounds which is an advantage for retailers and other businesses.

OUR TOP INDUSTRIESOil and Gas

St. Paul’s economic base includes upstream oil/gas service companies. St. Paul borders the West side of the Cold Lake Oil Sands area between Highway 41, a main corridor to the oil and gas fields in the Northeast, and Highway 36, the heavy load corridor for major oil development.  Reasonable land costs, developed infrastructure, an educated labour force and direct access to markets in the oil/gas industry make St. Paul an excellent choice for investment.

Agriculture

Agriculture is another main industry in St. Paul. St. Paul attracts over $100 million in Gross farm Receipts (2010). The region around St. Paul has over 1,000 farms producing coarse grains such as wheat, oats, barley and canola. Pea field acreages have also been on the increase. In addition, St. Paul is home to numerous agriculture suppliers which inlcudes major farm equipment dealers and suppliers serving grains and livestock producers. Numerous investment opportunites exist for Agriculture related businesses.

Health Care

St. Paul boasts the St. Paul-St. Therese Healthcare Centre, a combined acute care and continuing care facility with a special care unit, labour and delivery rooms and palliative care beds. Other health services available in St. Paul include home care, emergency care, rehabilitation, dental and eye care, and alternative therapies. The health care industry continues to thrive in St. Paul with the Wellness center that offers various medical related services.

Transportation

St Paul is a central logistics HUB. Located on Hwy. 29 which connects to Hwy. 36 to the West and Hwy. 41 to the East, two major corridors connecting to U.S. markets and to the Alberta Oil Sands areas. Hwy. 881(North/South corridor) connects St. Paul to Hwy. 16 (Yellowhead) to the south and North to major oil developments. St. Paul Airport has all-weather facilities and a 1,067 metre runway. Rail access is availble approx. 90 kms south.
