FROM OUR PASTOR

Dear Friends,

This past month our Sunday School teachers and helpers met.

As we were talking, I was struck by a vision of what I think God is

calling us to be in this challenging time. Someone mentioned about

all the challenges facing schools, teacher, parents as this new school

year begins to unfold. We realized how weary everyone is, and how

in this pandemic, we still have a long way to go.

An image popped into my head and out of my mouth came the

words, “Everyone needs an oasis right now. That is what I think the

church is called to be. Let’s think about how we can be an oasis for

everyone who is weary.”

I thought that this is an idea all of us should think about. How

can we as a church better be an “oasis” in these desert days? How

can we bring refreshment, hope, peace, comfort and all the other

things our world needs?

You might be thinking I have the answers. But I don’t. I think

the answers are within all of you. How can we be an oasis, not just

for ourselves, but for others who desperately need it? When you pray

and think about it, what does God place in your heart? How can we

be an oasis in a parched world?

So please, pray about it. Think about it. And then share your

thoughts with me, with our church council, and with our other leaders

in our community of faith. Let’s work together to be an oasis in a time

when the world desperately needs it.

God’s peace,

Pastor Serena
